I am so sorry for those of you that are getting bad news right now.

My best friend for the past 45 years has just been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I am just reeling from it - but I know that it is even worse for her husband and 3 children.

I desperately want to go see her (several hundred miles away), but she does not want visitors and I respect her wishes.

My oldest DD called this afternoon to let us know that Grandpa had passed away

It's only been 11 days since we found out he was sick and 5 days since they gave him 8 weeks, I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this went so fast. If I had known we would have went last weekend to see him, but that 8 week timeframe made me think going over the Thanksgiving break would give us more time with him. Instead we have no time now

My brother, oldest DD, his sister and my Mom were with him, RIP Grandpa
His 3 kids never got a chance to see him either, they were coming when we did over Thanksgiving.

I am so very sorry for your family, I lost parents at holidays and it is extremly difficult. With great intentions the family said that Dad was having Easter dinner in the best place ever.....I hurt and saw an empty chair.

It takes time, prayers, and support to get through the days to come. If any drama, have a designated person to interceed diplomaticly as it all can be dealt with later....not now.

keep the good memories, have pictures of the good times, and memories.

OMG, I'm so sorry dear, how very heartbreaking . My heart and prayers truly go out to all your family . Sending prayers all the bitterness and family disunity can be put aside and every one come together in peace to honor your dear stepdad - children's grandfather, like he deserves. May your family be granted faith, strength and courage during this difficult journey. Your stepdad probably suffered more than we know, praise God he is now at peace.

I'm so sorry. I'm sorry he died, I'm sorry you didn't have time to grieve with him, or even to have time to accept it. It makes it even harder, I think, when something like this happens so close to the holidays, because it's right there, on that holiday, every year.
I wish peace for your family, and hope the drama plays out in a good way.

Oh my, I am so sorry By the time we found out my Dad had cancer he lasted about two months, and they were awful. I don't want to sound like a cliche, but maybe he went on his own terms, which was quickly. It is much harder for those left behind, but he didn't suffer as long.

Again, my heart goes out to you and your family, it's especially hard at this time of year.
