The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

Great pictures at POP, Pat. Do you know...we've never been there (except to drop someone off at the front door). And you got some great shots of the AK. I too wish that one area would be a boat ride of some sort again. I NEVER knew that bar was there; I will definitely have to remedy that in September. ;)

Take the advice I gave to Glenn, stop by and walk around. The food court is good and there is so much to see, so many little details. Worth the trip.

Oh yes that bar may be a little hidden but worth the search.

Ahhhhh Pop! And Animal Kingdom! Seems like we were in Room 4442 on our first trip. Or maybe I'm just thinking that was our room number. LOL I know it was in the 60's and it was a preferred room. That building is a great location!

I don't recognize any of the drinks on the pool bar menu. It must have changed since then. The Lost in Safari is a yummy drink!

I had a great room! I did not book preferred but that is what I got. :woohoo:

I was very close to the Playdoh can poolside to boot.

That Lost on Safari was good. But I can only have 1 in the heat. 2 and I do get lost. :rotfl2:

Lunch was great today. Sorry it took you so Long to get back to work.

Update on the knee- I will be scheduled for an MRI on the right one. What was funny is they gave me the same excercises I have been getting for 30 years - all the ones that hurt my knee more- I told them that but we shall see. The structure of my knee does not allow me to do those excercises.

Hopefully the MRI does not show a tear and then I can focus on taping and bracing since apparently there is nothing, still, they can do to actually fix it.

I cannot believe that in 30 years of technology they still have the same excercises and no one else has the same problem I do?

Didn't we sit in that bar a spell? DId I REALLY get a water??!!! REALLY??!!

Oh sure, there ya go again!! NOW you tell me there were THOSE!! :sad2::rotfl2: Next time, break my arm if I order water instead of one of those!

Cool! We weren't poolside so it couldn't have been the same room as we had on the first trip.

Lunch was very nice. :goodvibes I probably should have just walked back. LOL I'm just glad I got back in time to go to calendar call for the boss.

Ugh on the knee. Can't believe that's all they can come up with.

I think you got waters because you were Hoop de Dooing it later and did not want to pay for a drink when you had all you can drink later on and did not need to get a head start. :lmao:

Ah, how well I remember those tour groups!

They continued to play a large part as time went on.

I am cracking up over your water pictures that culminated with a Lost on Safari!!! :lmao:

It was so hot and I was so thirsty. The Lost on Safari hit the spot. On the walk over, everytime I saw water I thought about hopping over and getting a sip. :lmao:

Great location. I think that and the 50's may be my favorite. I get lost in the 70's and 80's/90's:lmao:

I did walk once up to Dean and Deluca. It was a nice day so it was nice to get out. Glad you got back in time. :goodvibes

To the internet. I found some other options and well right now I am up for anything new. Some advice is to actually work on the hip muscles. The excercises he gave me are supposed to help keep the knee cap pulling in ( medially) but I need to pull it to the outside ( laterally) to make it track straight. I will do the MRI to check for a tear and any other funkiness they can find. If i can get help taping it to be sure I do it right, that may be my answer until it strengthens up but even when I was swimming and in shape I still had the problem, so if that kind of training did not help then what will?

thanks for the bar sign, now i know what to look for
:thumbsup2

Happy to help. I never realized what a great place it is to just sit and chill.

if you want/need quiet keep walking all the way around towards the back.

There are some special sounds around the back of Tusker house and not many know you can venture that far back. Tables and chairs are also back there.

I think the sounds are dishes clanking and a landlady talking to the tenent.

Then I take back all previous comments about breaking my arm. :lmao:

Besides all prior Park Bevvie experiences have been mediocre up to now. Just sayin'... ;)

I have had a meh Lost on safari and a holy Cow Lost on Safari. I think if you look exasperated and chat up the barkeep you can get a stronger drink. ;)

I'll take a Mai Tai AND a Poolside Lemonade, please :thumbsup2

Your pictures of Pop look so fun! If I were ever going to stay at a value, that would be the one I would choose.

Yay for AK! Any Yay for a Lost on Safari! :yay: Prior to my last trip I never even realized that the Dawa Bar was an actual working bar! Many thanks go out to Happydog and Charleston Princess for alerting me to this little gem!

YUM :drinking1

I really like POP over the other values. The bus isn't shared at the moment with any other resort and the resort is centrally located.

I know I never realized they had Yummy drinks like the Lost on Safari.I may have thought Dawa bar was was just the "name" of the area. Did not know I could take the name literally.:woohoo:

Caught up now and still giggling about your squished HM ride. :rotfl: I can just picture that!!!! Henry is sitting next to me watching a movie and kept asking "What's so funny Mommy?" while I was reading that.

I'm enjoying all your updates, those Pop pictures are great! We ended up going over to Pop one day during our trip and MeMom is SO right, with all that bright, cheery happiness at the Hippy Dippy pool covered up, Pop looked so much less glittery and fun...it was sad!

And even though we have been home for 1 week, I'm already aching to go back. I want a solo trip!

What were we thinking?? Well better yet, What was I thinking? I knew that ride could not hold all 3 of us and I hada plan, I would ride solo and the girls could ride together. When the CM said al in 1 car, we obeyed. :sad2:

Going down backwards was interesting. :lmao:

Memom is right those walls or mesh coverings take away from the groovy site of POP when you exit out those doors.

I was so lucky to be able to do what I did when I did and it really reduced my stress level. I was talking with jillyb and I said and believe it was cheaper and more fun than therapy.

Glad to see you are catching up. Hope Henry is feeling better and I need to pop over to your PTR to see if anything is new.

I figure I can share this here but if you have absolutely no interest in hearing about my knees please feel free to check back later or just scroll on by.

I have been slowly training for the Oct 5K in Disney and learned it would be at AK instead of MK. HMMMmmm that changes things a bit becuse while I do want to run, I also want to be at MK for the 40 anniversary on the same day.

I have posted before that my knees are not happy about this new training regimen and have not held back in the least on letting me know.

The right one I will call Lotso- seems so soft and cuddly but can be downright mean, and sometimes is that pink color, is the bad boy. Not really put together right, I have that documented, Lotso has been giving me problems since I started swimming at about age 10. LONG TIME. I know how to make it happy- very limited activity on it - but that is not making me happy - or keeping me thin.

The left one is just Jealous. When the right one acts up like a spoiled child, the left one needs to carry the load and well it gets jealous.

After a semi productive visit to the doctor about the twins, I left a little discouraged but pointed in the right direction. I was on my own to please Lotso since the only advice was to keep doing exercises that made Lotso really cranky. To the internet, since I knew I had successfully taped the bad boy ( not to the front of a truck) once before but needed to know I could do it right again and it would actually relieve the problem.

I find a demo on a sports injury sight and lo and behold I was right in my thinking. It was that easy. I had the tape already so I did what I could and then set out on the neighborhood loop to try it out.

It worked. Lotso was no more angry at me than Jealous was and while on mile 3 I promised that Jealous too could get the special taping if it would just stop being a pill until I got back home.

Well, 3 strides from my driveway and I was walking people, I did the unthinkable. Our street is raised slightly and it drops off into the curb area. Not what I would call traditional curbs like i grew up with in New York but rather the ones you find in Florida, It is more of a gully than a right angle step up.

3 strides from the driveway I roll my left ankle from the street part to the curb part. I hear it crack LOUD. I practically hop the remaining steps and make it back into the house. I can bear weight but I am waiting. I shower and now I sit with ice. Both knees and the ankle. I am watching the bruising start.
The first thing I thought was " Great, I just broke an ankle."

I think it is really fine, I can walk but it tender to rotate inside. My joints are so loose that I never break anything I just sprain things. That is why my knee is so messed up, no stabilization. That, I am sure, has saved me from many broken bones. :worship:

Now Jealous has the ankle on its team. I am out numbered. :sad2: How much tape do I have? :lmao:

:crutches: So here I am. Hopefully not, but luck is not on my side today.
The Good news ... Lotso is fine and happy. :) Jealous and the ankle not so much. :lmao:

Now back to your regularly scheduled TR. :upsidedow

OH no!!! That's awful! Especially when you have a goal in sight and want to do this thing that just in and of itself is somewhat painful- All my "pain" is in my leg muscles which have turned frighfullly cottage cheesy since returning home.

UGH, Pat, I'm so sorry! keep up the ice and the tape- you'll be fine by Oct. And hey, FYI, think tentatively about Oct. 2012. ;)
