Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Morning again!

#1 - SWIFFER DUSTERS - Greatest invention ever in regards to dusting!

#2 - CLOTH DIAPERS FOR DUSTING - My mom used cloth diapers with pledge and now I do too. They are soft, so they won’t scratch. They are thick, so when so spray pledge on them it doesn’t soak through. They really are great.

#3 - DRINK CART FOR SODAS & WATER - I don’t have tons of cabinet space since my kitchen shares space with my dining room, so taking up cabinet space with soda & water is not an option. I bought the below drink cart to organize drinks and it’s worked out great. I bought it at IKEA.

Swiffer products are very handy dear Slo. I also love your drink cart. My Dad and I use a milk crate for extra bottles of Aquafina. A cart would work a ton better. God willing, when I am home and back to normal we will look into one, thanks.

Slider bags and zippered pencil cases both provide great storage and help with organization too.

Small plastic boxes with latch handles are great for a variety of supplies from Christmas cards to card games.

Happy Saturday hugs to all.

The drink cart is awesome, @slo; is it this one? We don't have an IKEA so I'd have to figure out how to order/have it shipped, but it looks pretty decent, and affordable. Right now, we have boxes and racks of drinks just sitting on the floor in the front room!

Cleaning/organizing...
I'm not big on either of these, which my house attests to if you take a look around! However, I'll play...

I like the 2 or 3 packs of basket-bins at Dollar Tree. I'm not really sure what they are called, but I put them in the larger drawers in the kitchen so things stay semi-organized instead of in a big mish-mash (aka, the junk drawer?). Sometimes I have more of these organizers than I have stuff to put in them, but usually they manage to fill up. I need to de-clutter... (and I just made myself sad, as a fellow DISer was Clutter, who became an IRL friend who died at her desk at home, 4 years ago, just before she was to retire here in Maine... )

The Butler, which is a dust pan and brush/broom, each on a long handle so I don't have to bend over to sweep up stuff. I know, lazy, but easier on my back.

I like Bona for our hardwood floors. I also like the whole system- no heavy mop to push around or wring, just mop and rinse out the pad each time. I feel like this is "cleaner" than traditional floor mops.

Baskets 🧺- I like organizing with baskets but they all have to be the same I think the closet looks better when everything’s in the same type of container

Tupperware I’m old school I love Tupperware when they came out with that modular mates organization system I bought tons of it and I still haven’t and I still use it and I still think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread 🤣🤣 and if I see some at the antique mall or garage sale I pick it up to add to my collection because I used it in the pantry I use it in my closet I use it everywhere

Shelf units - I love these things like a wall of those in the garage organize and stack your things on I don’t use baskets I use bins

Cleaning Products - I have a wide arsenal of things that I use but one of the best products dawn dish soap another one is peroxide between the two of them you can clean just about anything the third one white vinegar and the final one Pine-Sol bugs hate it

So come summer November 1st I will be selling upscale garage sale items....at a vendor market and a farmers market... though there are no local truck/farmers who bring produce from their toil and planting... instead they buy wholesale and then bring to the 2 market......SO ..........

I organize my wares using colorful boxes like these gather from Kroger produce section.... they give my offerings a fun vibe, they fit in the crew cab of the truck and easy to pack at the end of the day...... plus assorted wood crates for February citrus 🍋 🍋 🍋 season

Evening all!

I'm that person who's usually super organised and love it when I find something that solves a storage or organisation issue I've been having.

1. Storage boxes - i love a good storage box, from under bed storage that houses a variety of things to boxes in my kitchen cupboards to store various dried foods, baking ingredients etc.

2. Storage trays - i was struggling to organise my bathroom cabinet and my makeup box, and found some super useful trays that help separate everything to make them easy to reach and use without everything falling on top of each other - skincare tubes were the worst!

3. Drawer organisers - i have a few of these in my drawers to help separate my socks and underwear items and they're so handy to avoid having to rummage through everywhere.

I’m a big fan of ziploc bags of all sizes, especially when we go to WDW.

I love my rolling file carts with hanging folders. It’s much easier to get access without hurting my back.

Cleaners: white vinegar (also good at discouraging bugs), baking soda, Clorox wipes, and Swiffers.

I hate cleaning and cooking as much as I hate winter.
1. Bar keepers friend to clean the hard water and soap scum off my tub and shower.
2. Shark vacuum, which actually really does suck the dirt out of my carpet.
3. My dishwasher, because I 'd rather load and unload it than wash and dry dishes by hand.

NY Pizza ❤️❤️❤️❤️ & NY Italian restaurants ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ as for the rest - forget about it 🤣🤣🤣ymmv
Seriously I do enjoy eating in NY - sleeps in another whole story because I can’t stand listening to those garbage trucks all night long drives me insane - I often had to go to New York for work so I have visited Manhattan several times but it was for work not for vacation so I was very limited on my sightseeing abilities but I enjoy the food tremendously I love New York Pizza always have - and I also enjoy that just about any time of the day or night there’s someplace open that you can grab something
And those New York cabs are a lot of fun 😳😱

My favorite cookie boring as it might be or chocolate chip cookies
Molasses cookies
Pecan cookies
I’m not very picky when it comes to cookies I eat just about any kind of cookie

Good Sunday Morning

@leebee - I measured my cart and the one in the link you posted are a match. These carts really are great. Look on Amazon to see if they have them too,

New York…..

#1 - ELLIS ISLAND - 12 million immigrants went through there (my great grandparents did). This is a MUST for me to visit one day.

#2 - STATUE OF LIBERTY - This is another MUST for me to see one day.

Cookies…

#3 - MY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE - It’s the best and the secret ingredient is vanilla pudding. I only make these at Christmas, so everyone really looks forward to them.

Thanks for checking/confirming, @slo !

NY things...

I LOVE Manhattan- and the closer to Times Square, the better! Every time we go there, I look around and wonder: What could I do for a job that would earn enough to pay the rent! We've vacationed in Manhattan several times, as well as three different, 2 week trips when DD was doing training programs with the Rockettes. The food, the bars, the museums, the dance, the theaters, the shops, the Park- what's not to love? I am a city mouse, and for me, it doesn't get any better than Manhattan!

Finger Lakes region- I went to college in Ithaca, and then DH did his PhD at Syracuse, so I lived in the area for 7+ years. It's a beautiful area, the people are friendly, and the weather... could be worse, I guess (looking at YOU, Buffalo!). It was a wonderful place to live, with gorges, state parks, wineries, college sports (Go, Orange, GO!!) and let's not forget the New York State Fair to fill your free time and keep you busy. We tried and tried to find a job for DH in the area, as it would have been a wonderful place to raise kids.

Cookies- WITHOUT chocolate chips! In my favorite cc recipe, I leave out the chips and substitute nuts... divine! Other huge favorites are shortbread, pecan sandies, and speculoos cookies from Trader Joe's.

Being a native New Yorker it will be very hard to limit my choices to 3!
Growing up on L.I.: being 20 minutes away from the beach and 45-60 minutes away from “the city” (what we called Manhattan) Museums; Radio City Music Hall Easter and Christmas shows; on Sundays, when all the stores were closed once upon a time, looking at all the Christmas displays in the windows, Central Park and Washington Square Park when I was a teen, …. Better stop there. Oh, and love the sports teams, plus I am forever grateful to the 1964-65 NYS World’s Fair; a direct connection to my love of WDW, especially Epcot.

Went to school in Buffalo and learned what cold really was

Lived in the Hudson Valley for 6 years, much of the time in an 18th century stone house with a view of Mohonk mountain. It was beautiful even though I went through some tough times there.

My DD went to school in Ithaca also and we loved visiting her there. (Except one trip in February when I learned all over again what cold was!)

I chaperoned my DD’s middle school trip to NYC and was a tourist (now living in VA) for the first time. This trip included the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Science Museum (technically in NJ, great museum!) and a trip to the top of one of the World Trade Center towers.

That sounds so yummy dear Slo. I would love to enjoy one of your cookies made with vanilla pudding which I enjoy daily anyway! I never heard of that. Thank you also for conforming about the cart. I texted it's picture and IKEA information to my Dad.

Sunday hugs to all :)
