All of the following statements come from the Texas GOP official Party Platform. Keep in mind this is the shrubs home state and what you see here may be what you are voting for come Nov. 2.

We oppose the Endangered Species Act.

The Party supports repeal of all Motor Voter laws; re–registering voters every four years

The Party opposes any governmental action to restrict, prohibit, or remove public display of the Decalogue or other religious symbols.

The Party supports the immediate adoption of American English as the official language of Texas and of the United States of America. While encouraging fluency in additional languages by all citizens, no governmental entity shall require any agency, contractor, business, or individual to publish public documents in a language other than English.

The Party views any form of desecration of the American flag as an outward act of disregard for our nation and its people and advocates penalties for such acts.

The Republican Party of Texas affirms that the United States of America is a Christian nation.

The Party believes that capital punishment should be swift and unencumbered.

The Party recognizes that addictive drug, alcohol, and pornography use is dangerous and affects all sectors of society.

We call upon the Texas Legislature to rescind no–fault divorce laws.

The Party believes that the practice of sodomy tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders.

The Party opposes the legalization of sodomy.

The Party believes that pornography is repulsive, addictive and
contributes to deviant criminal behavior.

We urge the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

The Party supports amendment of the Americans with Disabilities Act to exclude from its definition those persons with infectious diseases, substance addiction, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, homosexual practices and mental stress.

We favor strengthening our common American identify and loyalty over the ideology of multiculturalism that emphasizes differences between racial and ethnic groups.

The Party supports the termination of bilingual education programs.

The Party believes it is in the best interest of the citizens of the United States that we immediately rescind our membership in, as well as all financial and military contributions to, the United Nations.

Do you really want to see the United States embracing this radical ideology?

I don't know a lot about the first two you listed or why they oppose them (you didn't list the reason), but other than that, I'm fine with the rest of it. ::yes:: W in '04!!!

Ah, the new spokesmen (per the republican party verbage) of a divided and weak America!

You two should be the pride and joy of the GOP!

Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders.

Ah yes, the ever popular "homosexuality is a sin"....

We call upon the Texas Legislature to rescind no–fault divorce laws.

Great idea! No more of getting a divorce just because you want to. The state will decide if you continue to be married or not!

When you look at all the groups of people they want to alienate, it's breathtaking.
Judgemental, narrow minded....the list is too long, but scary comes to mind immediately.

I'd say I agree with 9 of those statements.
I oppose the rest. But the 9 I agree with mean more to me than the ones I oppose.

:confused3

The Party believes that capital punishment should be swift and unencumbered.

That's the reason we are the only state with an Express lane on Death row...try 'em and fry 'em. :p

GO SHRUBBY!

Is this from their website, or do you have a link to a site where this is listed as their platform?

It's from their website. The whole party platform is in PDF format free to download!

I agree with EsmeraldaX, I may not agree with all of them, but the ones I do believe in are more important to me than the
others.

Like I stated, you must have something to hide. You must not want to post the link to the original articles because, as your other "cut and paste" efforts have shown, you fail to capture the true essence of an article.

It's OK. We understand that you don't want us to read the article for ourselves. Not to worry, it just invalidates any point you were futilely attempting to make.

guess people only have to provide a link when they want too?

Do you really want to see the United States embracing this radical ideology?

Sounds like Germany in 1933:eek:

If these are the ideals our country is headed for, I guess I'll be applying for Canadian citizenship someday...

I agree with a good portion of those items and the others are unlikely to be made into any sort of national policy.

Like Germany in 1933? Medieval times? :p Nothing like completely blowing things out of proportion to destroy your credibility ;)

We oppose the Endangered Species Act.

Ok with that.
The Party supports repeal of all Motor Voter laws; re–registering voters every four years
I disagree, but it really is pretty far down my list of priorities.
The Party opposes any governmental action to restrict, prohibit, or remove public display of the Decalogue or other religious symbols.
disagree again, and I'm a Christian. We are either secular or all inclusive. But it won't keep me awake at night.
The Party supports the immediate adoption of American English as the official language of Texas and of the United States of America. While encouraging fluency in additional languages by all citizens, no governmental entity shall require any agency, contractor, business, or individual to publish public documents in a language other than English.
I'm behind this 100%
The Party views any form of desecration of the American flag as an outward act of disregard for our nation and its people and advocates penalties for such acts.
Disagree. But again, not that important. You can express your dissatisfaction with America in many other ways.
The Republican Party of Texas affirms that the United States of America is a Christian nation.
On the fence. Christianity is the majority religion. But if they mena to legislate the country as a Christian nation, that would be going too far.
The Party believes that capital punishment should be swift and unencumbered.
Disagree. I'm against the death penalty as much as I am proo-life.
The Party recognizes that addictive drug, alcohol, and pornography use is dangerous and affects all sectors of society.
I agree. But this is really a toothless statement. Where's the action here?
We call upon the Texas Legislature to rescind no–fault divorce laws.
If I knew what this meant, I'd have an opinion.
Lumping the two together is ugly. Sodomy can certainly exist without homosexuality, and vice versa. Condemning sodomy? Disagree. Condemneing homosexuality, I agree only on the principle that it is against the nature of the human form. Men's parts and women's parts are the only ones meant to go together. But I do NOT favor outlawing homosexuality and making it a crime. If people want to commit sin in their bedroom, that's up to them.
The Party opposes the legalization of sodomy.
Boy, stuck on the sodomy thing are we? Really, this is a non-matter. There are many places that sodomy is outlawed, widely practiced, and completely unenforced.
The Party believes that pornography is repulsive, addictive and
contributes to deviant criminal behavior.
Redundant. Harmful? In some cases, yes. Criminal? no. Repulsive? Depends on your POV.
We urge the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
ITA. The most important idea here
.
The Party supports amendment of the Americans with Disabilities Act to exclude from its definition those persons with infectious diseases, substance addiction, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, homosexual practices and mental stress.
I THINK I agree, but I'm not sure how far reaching the consequences would be. I don't want anyone to be legitimately harmed by this action.
We favor strengthening our common American identify and loyalty over the ideology of multiculturalism that emphasizes differences between racial and ethnic groups.
I agree. The fact that we are ALL Americans should be number one. Those that wish to remember and live within their own cultural norms are still welcome to do so.
The Party supports the termination of bilingual education programs.
I agree. The only bilingual education should be helping others learn English. Once they know English, they can take any education course offered anywhere in the country because THEY KNOW THE LANGUAGE.
The Party believes it is in the best interest of the citizens of the United States that we immediately rescind our membership in, as well as all financial and military contributions to, the United Nations.
I agree. The Un is like the United Socialist Nations now. They rarely seem to have American interests at heart and often pander to Europe and Asia before deiging to listen to us. And where else in the world can a country like Syria (terrorist haven that it is) head the SECURITY COUNCIL?! Sheer madness. And as taxpayers, we are helping FUND this bunch of crap!

Do you really want to see the United States embracing this radical ideology?

The positives outweigh the negatives IMO.

I agree it is out of proportion, but I also agree with the sentiment. A Christian theocracy, in the hands of a zealot, could be quite harmful. A theocracy can easily be twisted and mangled.

Heck, many of us moan about the extreme sects of Islam that dominate some Muslim countries. These theocracies can be quite brutal. Christians showed in the past that they, also, were not beyond brutality.
As a Christian myself, theocratic Christian rulers that would persecute are not "real" Christians.

We have to keep a careful balance between being morally lead and being theocratically domiinated. Also, America is supposed to be a country of inclusion. To be overly Christian would serve to EXCLUDE if taken too far.
