I'm a home baker. I'm better at baking than I am at cooking, and have considered going to culinary school for pastry, but decided not to. When I make something that has buttercream frosting on it, it's homemade. I will never use the junk in a can because homemade just tastes better.

This is a doctored box mix chocolate cake, with chocolate buttercream frosting, chocolate ganache, chocolate squiggly decorations, and fresh strawberries. I forget why I made this one, but I think it was just for the fun of it.

Yellow cupcakes with blue buttercream frosting. I'm trying to learn how to decorate cakes and was experimenting with my large star tip and ribbon tip, which is why some of them are kind of messy. I dyed the frosting blue because I was watching a Cubs game at the time

Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream. As you can see, I've gotten better with the star tip, which has become my favorite

Yellow cupcakes with purple buttercream and little bat and blood-spattered bone candies on top. I made these for work for Halloween.

Pumpkin pies I'd made for Thanksgiving. This was my first attempt at making pumpkin pie with fresh pumpkin that I'd pureed myself. Probably my last, since it tasted the same as the kind in a can. The crust is also from scratch. I still have some puree in the freezer that I'm going to use for a pie this weekend.

This is one of my favorite cakes to make. It's a marbled chocolate and peanut butter cake, with a chocolate and peanut butter ganache on top. LOVE. It tastes like a giant Reese cup.

Entrees

The lamb was just lovely. It was flaking on the plate and melt in your mouth tender.

The fish....no idea what that was like.

The vegetarian option. Don't be fooled...underneath all that spicy lentil was a wonderfully cooked aubergene or eggplant.
