The Save Money for Disney Thread (Tips Included)

anyone please pm me if you have any other great ideas for online polls and things of that nature that you can get paid for.

I'm working on a blog post on my website that will have all these things in there. I will link it when I am done. Until then, I'll be continuing to update this post with new stuff.

I paid 4.01 a gallon for gas today. I am completely dreading filling up my Uhaul for the trip. Big ole 26 foot gas guzzler on mountain interstates

SunTrust also uses AES for customer service. When I tried to get my redution for graduating, they acted like I was speaking a foreign language. Finally after 4 months of fighting them, I got my reduction.

This is the worst news ever because I talked to my loan representative at Suntrust regarding moving my loans to them. thanks for letting me know

thanks! it is actually a step down the ladder but it is what i want. i quit my job right before our trip last week. i was working too many hours and not seeing enough of my family. it was a hard decision to make but we are willing to make the sacrifices needed for me to be home more. i cut my income almost in half. hopefully this will work out or back up the ladder i go. LOL.

At the start of today,I had $1400,but ended up buying a PS3 for DH for Father's Day.Now -$450.He hasn't asked for one since Christmas,but it was a good deal.It might still go back.I don't know.Should I keep it?

I put away $200 out of DH paycheck.I also put all of my paycheck into our account.I live on my tips,which in Sept. will all go into our account.(I am a hairstylist)

I save all of my change.One time I was with DH and we went to Wendy's.We got change back and we were fighting over who got to keep the change.He said because we were in his Jeep that he got to keep it.He puts all his change in his ashtray for a pick me up Frosty from Wendy's.(We don't drink so that is his "fix")

We have already paid off our airfare.Glad we bought them in March.We bought 2 at full price,and 3 with frequent flyer miles.We used 25,000 miles for one ticket.Now the "cheap" flights are at 47,500 miles each.The airfare are up about $30 a ticket.Glad I am a planner.

Well if you think the price of gas is shocking where you live, try almost $5.00 a gallon and over, in California, and when you still are without a job, you have to think really hard, as to where you can even apply, much less afford to commute to. I am hoping that one day soon, that I finally have a real job, like most people my age! seriously.

I made so far this week an extra $175.00 for my disney piggy bank!! and will get another $75.00 tomorrow!! Yay for extra babysitting hours! I's like to add that this this years wdw trip is almost finally paid off, so any moneys i make is for fun there, driving there and to cover costs of rent because we dont get paid vacation.. lame!

Found more change, another 7.50 in the coffers, up to 243 bucks now. Sold alot on ebay but using that money for house stuff like paint. We also purchased a china hutch today. I'm glad my wife knows about this stuff because I would have never in a million years thought to purchase one

I save Washing Machine Change.

You know the kind that is left in pockets and ends up in the bottom of the washer! It goes straight into my Disney fund. Sometimes it just a few cents but sometimes there are a few bills.

No one gets any change back from the Washer or Dryer!! It is Disney Money!!

We just got back from Disneyland and actually brought back money with us- about $100. Then I received $100 check back from girl scouts for a field trip I scheduled which turns out that the troop has enough funds to pay for the trip so we got back our deposits. Cashed that and put it in the Disney jar along with the leftover $$.

Friend owes me $57 so when I get that this week I'll put that in the jar. We'll have $257 for our next trip and we just got back this past Monday!

We love our Disney jar. We usually end up with $500-$600 in bills. We have a separate change jar that we just cashed out and it had $120. Then I ebayed about $600 worth of stuff from around our house. We had a huge chunk to take on trip last week.

One thing I started doing last year was to actually save the money that I saved by using grocery store coupons. Each month we transfer the coupon money to an ING type 3% savings account to save for vacation. This is in addition to many of the things you have listed. We also do not hesitate to pick up the pennies found on the ground that others walk past. We also never waste items like the bags from the grocery store, food or even old towels etc. We use this type of thing for cleaning etc. I did purchase a book Don't throw it out. It gives many tips on using most anything and not wasting. A few other ways are opening the ING account and referring friends to open one. They get 25 and you receive 10! The Disney Visa has a similar offer. I can sand the codes if any one would like one. Also can refer for the ING if anyone would want that also.

Oh yes!! Along the lines of the previous poster who had money left over from Disneyland to put toward next time.....Make sure to put at least two dollars that actually walked around the park in your wallet toward your next round of savings - we did, we called them "Mama Dollar and Papa Dollar" (a la "It's a Wonderful Life) and told them to be fruitful and multiply. So far, they have been pretty frisky.

One thing that I haven't seen on the list is rebate money. There are so many items that you can get for free or very little after rebate. Even if it's an item that you cannot use yourself, you can sell it at a yard sale for a few dollars and actually make a little money on it. If it's something that you can use, then getting that money back is a bonus.

Some things that really work well for rebating are the monthly deals at Walgreen's and Rite Aid. If it's free after rebate and you've got a coupon, you can actually make a few bucks on it. And both programs allow you to enter your receipts online. No more saving receipts and mailing them at the end of the month. It's not a lot of money but over time, it adds up.

Oh my gosh, definitely turn in your rebates. It helps alot, especially when you have no money. I had a $100 rebate check arrive this week to go towards the new house...I had sent in for it 20 weeks ago LOL

I'm packing boxes so I cannot consolidate feedback yet but I am working on it. Rest assured you are not forgotten!

I just deposited 185.00 into my credit union saving acct. I figured this acct would be safe. Its actually for my car payment I got a loan from credit union so i had to have a saving acct with them. I deposit car payment and every 25th of the month they dedect from acct. I plan on sending extra monety for my wdw fund when i send in my car payment.

I also have another 11.00 and about 5 bucks in coins. I use a cup to hold my wdw money. I won 50 bucks in a scatcher and the rest is spare change and dollars that equalled 185.00 It feels great! I hope to put half od my stimulus check into the acct too- 300.00 . My B-day is next month so hopefully i get some cash
