While deferment seems like the wise choice, if it were not possible and it were me, I would go and see what I could do before being swept.Fun Friday QOTD: I just recalled that I am registered for the Louisiana Marathon on 1/19/2020 and theres no chance in me running it. For fun I wanted to know what the cut off time for the race is and come to find out it's a 16 min pace or 7 hours, just like Disney. So for the question, do you think it is possible to walk 26.2 miles below 16 min pace without training?
Not to actually answering: yes-ish.
reason for answer: before I started running at lunch, I could walk with coworkers. Depending on who I was with we would range 18-20 min/mile while chatting. over 2 miles. If I went in planning to walk the whole thing, AND assuming I would keep the 18m/m pace I would be 52.4 minutes behind the pace of being swept. So the question is, could I run some of the miles to make up that time?
Could I run 9ish miles at my slow pace of a 12 minute mile and walk the other 17 at a brisk walking pace? I probably could do it and finish. I would probably swear a lot and maybe cry during and after the experience.
