ATTQOTD: Here are my clothing guidelines:QOTD: With the extreme cold weather parts of the country are experiencing today and this week, this seemed like a good opportunity to discuss running in the cold weather. What do you wear for cold runs and do you make any changes to your gear? What about hydration... how do you prevent your water from freezing during a run?

ATTQOTD: While it is cold here (a high of 47, so cold for us) I've never had to wear long pants of any sort ever to run. Also water freezing while running has not been a issue for me either. My only changes when it is cold is maybe a long sleeve running shirt, gloves, and maybe a beanie. I usually regret having all of those after a few miles though so I normally don't wear them.
OMG I did not know this was a thing! Thank you! I just keep reordering my same Injinji lightweight socks and never looked any further! Now I can stop doubling up a pair of other socks over them!nuwool Injinji toe socks

This is the kind of crazy thinking we runners are famous for. I love it!!how often do you get the chance to say you ran in those extreme colds? So who knows, maybe I will run.
They definitely help in the cold weather. I was skeptical at first, but I'm super glad I got a couple pairs for this winter. They are thicker (even then my normal midweight) but not where you feel like you have a giant sock on at all, which is nice.OMG I did not know this was a thing! Thank you! Thanks Billy!! I actually ran my first half at Celebration too, back in January 2017. Last time I ran it at a 1:52, I’d say I’ve made some progress!! Thanks again for all your help and guidance :-DWanted to give a S/O to our DIS runner @canglim52 who doesn't post much on the Running Thread but does in my journal. He ran the Celebration HM this past weekend and finished in 5th/1333 finishers with a new PR of 1:24:33. I can attest he's come a long way from Oct 2016 when he was gearing up for his first 10k. His fitness then was around a 50 min 10k or a 1:50 HM. It was fun to go back and look at his 5k repeats of 400-1200 meters at 7:43 pace where he was absolutely struggling. And now, a HM in 6:25 min/mile pace. Well done man and keep up the hard work! You've earned every bit of it.
