I usually look at the weather about 10 days out. The weather app on my phone is my go to because it provides hour by hour temps.
@camaker I am running the Durham 13.1 on Saturday and it looks like it might be a very cold start! Not super excited about the cold but hoping that a mile in, the temp won't be an issue or at least less of one.
This would have sucked! Sadly, I could see myself getting lost, one reason I like a lot of people at races. Glad they found her!

QOTD: I don't worry about the weather before a race really. As long as I am not injured I will run the race regardless of weather so why bother stressing about it. The weather people are usually wrong so watching it that far out makes no sense. I only watch the weather for one reason, I have a secret crush on my local weather girl.![]()
That is some crazy stuff. I have only done one trail race of 5 miles. It started at 9PM though which made it interesting. The race had a lot of folks on it and the path was well marked. Glad she was found safe. I would be freaking out.
QOTD: Today maybe you could tells us first about a special holiday... Something great that happened, something special this year or a planned event. It doesn't have to be running related; family/friend stories are totally welcome.
ATTQOTD: A special holiday for us like many is Christmas for many of the obvious reasons. But one part that makes is special for us is when we head over to my dads house. We cook a big seafood gumbo, exchange gifts, and then as the sun sets we have a large bonfire and pop fireworks. It's one of those events that bring my back to my childhood and many great memories. Something that was great and special was being fortunate enough to make two WDW trips in 2016. ( I really need to get to work on that trip report) And to add in a running portion, to start off 2017 we are heading to Houston to visit some friends and me and a buddy are going to run the Houston Marathon. Although he is much faster than I am, we both seem to be heading to this thing unprepared. Looking forward to the challenge anyway. Also have been given a green light to look up a late spring early summer marathon trip or if that doesn't work out another trip to WDW. Speaking of WDW, I may already have a room paid for in April, but im not counting on it at this time.
Also, next week I could potentially have some exciting news to share with the running community on this board. Lots to look forward to and be thankful for!

Additionally we will be surprising the girls with a trip to WDW this Christmas. They think I am going alone to Marathon Weekend. But we have turned it into a small vacation. We will surprise them by wrapping the magic bands to be opened on Christmas morning. Very excited!
I guess my special holiday is Christmas because it my favorite. We don't do anything out of the ordinary. Everyone comes to our house, we have dinner, open gifts, etc. This year isn't going to be the easiest because it's the first Christmas without my grandma. She was like our family leader. She bought everyone gifts because she thought everyone should open something rather than just getting an envelope of money.QOTD: Today maybe you could tells us first about a special holiday...
