The Running Thread - 2016

@jhorstma..wow! That looks amazing. I wanted to know more about the course and if you took any more pics!!!
Lake Powell is on the Arizona/Utah border. It's the Colorado River upstream of the Grand Canyon, formed by the Glen Canyon Dam in the cute little town of Page, Arizona. It's 4 and half incredibly scenic hours from just about anything - we flew into Vegas and drove through the Virgin River Gorge and Zion National Park and past Grand Staircase - Escalante Monument to get there. It's hard keeping the car on the road because all you want to do is marvel at the scenery. The course winds through town before turning onto a 2 mile trail overlooking the lake (where I took the picture of my daughter) and then drops you steeply down to the bridge next to the dam (and high above the Colorado River gorge). After a bit of a climb you wind down a National Park road to the finish at a lakeside resort and marina. I'm attaching pics of the dam and bridge, the view of the gorge from the bridge, the view of the course looking from Page down to the lake and the finish at the marina (there is a road in there somewhere), and me and my lovely bride at mile 13 approaching the finish.

ATTQOTD: I post on occasion about a race. But very rarely do I post about regular runs. I really enjoy seeing other people post, as long as the post isnt offensive or condescending. I have one friend that goes through phases and sometimes she post about every run(or I assume it's every run), and it is very condescending to other people, that I don't like.

social media, I post Pretty pictures from my run on facebook & instagram or tell on facebook if something interesting happens. I'll post about races. I don't post data from runs unless like it's super stellar which doesn't happen. For wine & dine weekend I'll probably post on instagram & facebook.

ATTQOTD: I'm on social media but I don't really post anything. Don't figure its really that interestung to anyone. But it is actually a good way to connect with the running community and find out info on races and things like that. I do participate in run chat on twitter each week and enjoy that.

QOTD: What are your running plans for the weekend?

ATTQOTD: Today I need to run 3-5 miles and Saturday I am going for the odd number of 19 miles. Low tomorrow of 49 and a high of 77. Its going to be a great day for a run and tailgating!

Have a great weekend everyone and good luck again to those who have a race!

QOTD: What are your running plans for the weekend?

I have 11 to run on Saturday. It will be the last official "long run" of my current training plan, as my taper starts following next Thursday's tempo run. My big goal race, Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon, is two weeks from Sunday! I can't believe it's already here!

And pay attention to differences from model to model too. Every few models, Asics makes changes to the Kayano that don't agree with my feet, so I have to stock up on the ones I like before they disappear.
I had to switch from the Brooks Pure Flow 3 because I didn't like the feel of the new model. It made me so sad!

I'm on Brooks' email list and they actually sent me an email about the price drop - that's how I found out. Maybe try to get on their list? :)
Thank you!!!!

Sometimes a run just sucks and everything goes wrong. Today was that day!
1. My husband took my car today and that included my good earbuds.
2. Part of the track was closed which threw off my head and my hydration plan. It also meant that I finished with the sun in my face instead of on my back.
3. Trying to stay upright in the port a potty and discovered that all the toilet paper was still in the wrapper.
4. Ran into my husband's boss as he was leaving the ceremony and I was a hot, sweaty mess. Thank goodness for sunglasses because he didn't recognize me! But then I had to make sure my husband wasn't there too!
5. Went to open the gatorade bottle and discovered the seal was already broken. (Probably my kid!)
I took myself to Starbucks for coffee and a muffin!

ATTYQOTD:
ATTQOTD: I manage social media for a living, so yeah... I totally overshare. ;) I probably share 65-70% of my runs on Facebook - I usually have a pretty pic from the route or something interesting that happened, or just a funny quip about running in general to share. A large portion of my Friends run, too, so we often converse about runs via Facebook. My view is that I post things on my page that I'd share with people in face-to-face conversation. Folks are welcome to Unfollow or Unfriend me if they don't like seeing what I post. :)

Yep - this is me. And I also manage social media for a living. When you're on there 90% of the time anyway, it just becomes part of the routine.

ATTQOTD: This weekend I have a HUGE event for work, but it's at running-friendly park. I've got my running stuff packed up with me to take today so I can get my short run in after setup. Sunday is my first "long" run on the @DopeyBadger plan - 5 miles!

ATTQOTD: I ran 10 this morning, and tomorrow is the last 20 miler before the marathon next month. Woo hoo! I still haven't wrapped my head around not being done training after the marathon though. I keep getting excited only to remind myself that I still have 8 weeks until the 50k. The marathon isn't the end of the season it's just another training run this year.
