Today I worked out my training plan for the Turkey Trot 5 miler. I'm going to do a hybrid of Hal Higon's 8k novice and intermediate plans. I'm doing the long run miles of the intermediate and the cross training, but staying with three running days which is the novice plan.
My goals for October are:
- Run the three scheduled a week (things happen, but goal is to get the runs in even if the scheduled day needs to change)
- Tuesday Pilates classes - focus on breathing. I get sloppy towards the end.
- Cross train as scheduled
- One rest day a week
It's a stretch of a training schedule for me, but really want to keep the momentum going to try and avoid cold weather excuses.
There was a quote that I saw today that I thought I'd share as I think with our training goals it might resonate:
"Best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time." -Abraham Lincoln
