The Running Thread - 2016

ATTQOTD: I know we have a lot of beer lovers on this thread (I actually enjoy a good beer myself), but the worst smell to run in that I have come across is from the factory that makes the malt for the beer. When they bake the malt, there is that sickly sweet smell all over the area. When I lived in Munich and depending on the wind, this would sometimes drift to where I was running. It is horrible as it invades a large area and you cannot escape it.

03 - @Flossbolna - Nuremberg City Run 6k (40:00 / N/A)

I have to adjust my time. If I even run the race. My stupid foot is hurting again. Not sure how and why... I am giving it some rest while getting better again with my PT exercises. Hopefully it will be pain free by Monday. I basically only had a couple of runs since May now. So, if I run this race, it will be slow! So, let's say a goal of 45 minutes...

That is not a smell I have ever had to deal with on a run, but I know exactly what you are talking about! My husband has brewed a few small batches of beer in our kitchen before and that smell pervades the entire house. I always threaten to make him brew outside the next time, but then forget until it's too late.

I hate to read about those of you having to miss a race due to injury. I hope you recover soon!

@RunDisneyDad looks like I will go ahead and put you down for a little race on April 17, 2017!!! Congrats again on getting in. If you have any questions I have run the event and so has @CheapRunnerMike . The 2017 race schedule isn't posted yet, but I do I have log going for when I switch it up at years end.

QOTD: With the last few comments discussing food items and me realizing my WDW trip is now 45 days out I am going to switch things up a little from the normal running theme and go with a Disney food question. What is your favorite snack at Disney?

ATTQOTD: Without a doubt, my favorite snack item at WDW is the cinnamon roll at Gaston's Tavern!

I may eat a half dozen of these things on my upcoming trip!

Congratulations. Awesome accomplishment. I am planning to spectate that race so I will see you run by, even if I don't know it, unless you stop and say HI of course. :D

Thanks! I'm sure you'll have an inspirational sign and as race day gets closer you'll have to let me know where you'll be...seeing friends is always a huge motivator.

Haha...thanks a bunch, I appreciate the offer! I will absolutely hit you guys up with questions. Obviously we have a January race in Houston to get ready for as well! Looking forward to that too.

ATTQOTD- Can you ask a harder question?!?!

Hmm, based on this latest trip I would have to say the Framboise from Les Halles. That cinnamon roll ranks pretty high though. What does the fruit and Nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow count as? Because I had that thing twice this past trip.

OMG...ack, I can't pick just one!

All pics from Disney Food Blog...first thing I thought of was a Cronut from Epcot...I googled around for this picture and they put ICE CREAM on it?! What even. :cloud9:

And the Red Velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls in DHS...

And birthday cake ice cream from the Plaza in MK (which they DID NOT have when I was in WDW in August...so sad) - with or without cookies...

Clearly I have a sweet tooth. :teeth:

The Nutella Waffle with fruit from Sleepy Hollow in MK has been on my "to eat" list for awhile now but I never find a good time to get it...it almost seems too big to be a snack, more like a small meal? :confused3

QOTD:

For me it has to be the Fruit/Nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow. I'm calling it a snack, but I often treat it as a meal. There's so many though. Frozen banana is certainly a warm day go-to snack for me and my daughter. That cinnamon roll looks incredible, but I haven't had one of those yet. Most difficult question to date.

Favorite snack at WDW? Jeez that's a hard question. I love me some dole whip but I also love so many other things like Mickey pretzels and no way Jose and bread from France. I can't just pick one.

This was a terrible question to ask today... I am so hungry!!!!! With dole whip being thrown around so much, I guess I need to finally try one on this trip. Where is the best place to get one? Can I get it with booze in it?

I am looking forward to making that trip for many reasons. I will get to hang out with my running friend that lives in Katy, picking up some of the most delicious tortillas from HEB (Butter type), and if I can keep my training up, a PR effort marathon. Plus Texas/Houston has good beer. My friend and I plan on getting a hotel downtown so we don't have to drive in the morning of, do you think we are to late for that? I also have a deal with my friend that if I can run a 1:30:00 half before Houston he will pace me for a BQ. Obviously I have my work cut out for me, but it would be awesome heading to Houston with a potential for a BQ.
