The Running Thread - 2016

QOTD: With the last few comments discussing food items and me realizing my WDW trip is now 45 days out I am going to switch things up a little from the normal running theme and go with a Disney food question. What is your favorite snack at Disney?

As others have stated, it's hard to pick just one. I've gone with a couple of my favorites:

The Palmier at les Halles
Epcot 9-13-15 (87) (600x400).jpg

The German Chocolate Chewbacca Cupcake at Hollywood Studios (not sure if this is still around or if it was a limited time thing last year)

I guess I like to snack sweet at Disney.

ETA: Images aren't mine. Found on other blogs with a simple search.

Thanks! I've worn that song out over the past few years, but still gets me going every time.

So I had no idea what this song was, after a quick YouTube search I can tell you I now know what the song, but had no idea the name of the song. To be honest, I think I have only heard parts of the song I believe from the Sam Adams brewery commercials I've seen. It's now on my list of songs to DL and add to my tailgating playlist.

This was a terrible question to ask today... I am so hungry!!!!! With dole whip being thrown around so much, I guess I need to finally try one on this trip. Where is the best place to get one? Can I get it with booze in it?

I seriously just ate a vending machine "cinnamon roll" because of this thread. I was weak.

As far as boozey dole whips:
Animal Kingdom, Tamu Tamu refreshments, you can order with dark rum or coconut rum (This is a rumming thread right?)
You can also get the same thing during food & wine fest in Epcot...I think? At least you could last time I went.
And finally, you could go to the Polynesian Resort and get a dole whip at the little place called "the Lanai" outside and "DIY" one with any booze from the bar/your room.

Edited to add, non-booze version is in adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. Sort of across from where Jungle Cruise is and near the Flying carpets. I'm sorry I forgot to add the non-booze place to go.

Mmmm.... food. I love so many Disney foods but I have to say... Mickey Waffles!

It was a hard choice. I love ice cream (Disney or otherwise) but I don't have an ice cream place that stands out most. I also like the mediocre biscuits (mostly because I can shove a ton on my mouth) but the Mickey Waffles are one of the things I look forward to eating most in Disney.

I think I'll have to go with the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel. It's made of yumminess. So far I've only had it at Disneyland but according to DFB it's available at WDW in the American Adventure pavilion at EPCOT.

During Food and Wine Festival you can get one with rum at the Refreshment Port in Epcot. The same Refreshment Port that has the cronuts. Just had a boozy one this past week.

ATTQOTD: Aforementioned cronut, dole whip and carrot cake cookie are all a tie for me. :) And at the F&W Italy booth they had an awesome frozen slushy lemon boozy drink that was fabulous! I was told they have them all year at the walk up place in Italy so will definitely be looking for one after the marathon in January!

I hate to read about those of you having to miss a race due to injury. I hope you recover soon!

Is whichever one I'm about to eat next an appropriate answer? I was trying to think of things that hadn't been mentioned before. I really like the fresh made Carmel popcorn at Karmel Kuche.

Favorite snack at WDW? Jeez that's a hard question. I love me some dole whip but I also love so many other things like Mickey pretzels and no way Jose and bread from France. I can't just pick one.
No Way Jose's are so good.

Oh, these food photos look so good! I think my favorite, though it's hard to choose, it the pressed ice cream sandwich from Les Artisan Des Glaces.
IS that the brioche one or the macaron one?

@LSUlakes Oh that cinnamon roll looks amazing!!!!!!!

My favorite Disneyland treat used to be the lemon cupcake from Hungry Bear Cafe. Sadly, they no longer offer it :( Its the one treat I would get every single trip. I haven't found a replacement yet. Mickey Beignets and a mint julep are always yummy on a warm day. And I do love a good ice cream scoop in a waffle cone with sprinkles!cupcake.jpg

Try the Lemon Loaf Cake at Starbucks. If you like lemon cake, is is awesome!

I have to agree with the Gaston's Tavern cinnamon roll. If we extend it to desserts as well as snacks, it's hard to go wrong with Le Cellier's maple creme brulee and Raglan Road's Ger's bread pudding.

I find myself falling back into lurker status lately...

At WDW it would be the custom made Marshmallow Wand from Goofy Candy Company

I was just coming on to write that! I can't find a picture of my favorite, marshmallow dipped in milk chocolate rolled in Butterfinger, but I did find one that DS designed

@LSUlakes can you please add a race for me

10/08/16 MommaoffherRocker- Jacksonville Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon (NG/N/A)

That is not a smell I have ever had to deal with on a run, but I know exactly what you are talking about! My husband has brewed a few small batches of beer in our kitchen before and that smell pervades the entire house. I always threaten to make him brew outside the next time, but then forget until it's too late.

I live a few miles from an Anheuser-Busch brewery. If you are downwind, it is terrible. Luckily, I can't smell it from where I run.

@RunDisneyDad looks like I will go ahead and put you down for a little race on April 17, 2017!!! Congrats again on getting in. If you have any questions I have run the event and so has @CheapRunnerMike . The 2017 race schedule isn't posted yet, but I do I have log going for when I switch it up at years end.

ATTQOTD: Without a doubt, my favorite snack item at WDW is the cinnamon roll at Gaston's Tavern!
gastons-tavern-00.jpg

I may eat a half dozen of these things on my upcoming trip!

ATTQOTD- Can you ask a harder question?!?!

Hmm, based on this latest trip I would have to say the Framboise from Les Halles. That cinnamon roll ranks pretty high though. What does the fruit and Nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow count as? Because I had that thing twice this past trip.

OMG...ack, I can't pick just one!

All pics from Disney Food Blog...first thing I thought of was a Cronut from Epcot...I googled around for this picture and they put ICE CREAM on it?! What even. :cloud9:
Cronut-a-la-mode-compared-to-regular-cronut.jpg

And the Red Velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls in DHS...
red-velvet-cupcake-back.jpg

And birthday cake ice cream from the Plaza in MK (which they DID NOT have when I was in WDW in August...so sad) - with or without cookies...
Birthday-Cake-Ice-Cream-Sammy-2.jpg

Clearly I have a sweet tooth. :teeth:

The Nutella Waffle with fruit from Sleepy Hollow in MK has been on my "to eat" list for awhile now but I never find a good time to get it...it almost seems too big to be a snack, more like a small meal? :confused3

You guys are killing me. I can see you and I have the same taste in Disney snacks. I have not tried the ice cream sandwich. I will have to give that one a shot!

Why are they ruining that restaurant! I am still bitter that they took my fried green tomato sandwich away. I talked to my mom about it for years and I finally get her to Disneyland...and it's gone.

Try the Lemon Loaf Cake at Starbucks. If you like lemon cake, is is awesome!

That stuff is amazing. I shouldn't have looked to see if they have it at Starbucks near my house. They do.

ATTQOTD: for me it is all about the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar. It is not a real trip to Disney until I have had one (or three) of those babies!
