If you would like to revise your finish time goal, just let me know. Good luck to all the racers this weekend and I hope the weather will be pleasant and the wind be at your back. I do not normally do this, but since he has provided so much help to those of us in this thread, I would like to give a special acknowledgement to @DopeyBadger . From everyone on the forum, thanks for all that you do, and we are all cheering for you!
I also had another odd idea, which may not be for everyone, but here it goes. For races that have a way of tracking you as you cross certain mile markers, if you would like post how one could sign up for text alerts and bib#. It is by no means a requirement, just a little something extra. Or maybe a thread on the strava link could be started since I think everyone name IRL shows up on it...
You can obviously take me off the list.

My goal was going to be 1:45 for this race. I am going to the race because my friend Matt is running. I can check out the organization, pick up my bib and shirt since I paid, and get a feel for the race for next year. It is supposed to be really fast and it will be a POT race for me. I also need to be around the race atmosphere. It will bum me out not racing but I LOVE the energy.
Thanks for asking guys! Yea, I got my confirmation email earlier!!! It was definitely an emotional moment for me. That email was proceeded by a lot of miles, a lot of doubts, a lot of bonks, but every mile has been worth it. My favorite part was texting my wife "We're Shipping Off to Boston!"
Anyway, I have zero doubt you guys (and anyone else shooting for it) will get there too.
Congratulations. Awesome accomplishment. I am planning to spectate that race so I will see you run by, even if I don't know it, unless you stop and say HI of course.
NO JOKE. Day 1, I was trying to head upstairs to get in bed. My husband was standing at the bottom of the stairs watching me to make sure I was OK. By stair three, he basically said "This is getting tough to watch. Just crawl up the stairs."
Keels, don't feel bad. I was an absolute moron on the crutches. I kept asking myself how someone could do a whole marathon on crutches. And I was told to crawl up the stairs but being the "macho" guy I was there was no way. Well, I got to the third step and lost my balance and fell back landing on just my healthy leg. By the end of my time on the crutches I was crawling up and going down on my bum.
QOTD: I HATE cigarette smoke no matter what, but on a race course it is just plain rude and inconsiderate. Some of the smells from the sewage treatment plant and where they house the elephants at AK were not fun. Other than that I just remember running behind a guy during my first marathon. I kept trying to pass him but on walk breaks he would pass me. His BO was awful. I am so OCD about hygiene I brought a travel size deodorant in my roo pouch during the Disney marathon this year and put new stuff on around the 1/2 way point.

But, I have been around other people with BO in races.
Yesterday was 9 weeks post surgery. Things are still slow but improving. PT has started. I rode my bike, on the trainer, without my boot today. It hurt but the other muscles in my leg were burning even more because they haven't been used either. I am starting to feel a little bit more myself with each workout now. I still have a long way to go according to PT but maybe by December I will be running again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. One good thing, the PT told me that there should be no reason why I won't be able to have a long running life once I get started again. She is a runner so she gets it. Even if she was lying it made me feel better for a while at least.
Everybody with a race this weekend, crush it! I am supposed to be running this weekend so run a little harder for me if you could.
