I have only one red square in Training Peaks, which means I missed only one of the workouts my coach gave me this month. Plus, I managed to run sub-9 min miles in a 10k race after spending the week before the event sailing, eating, and drinking, and stopping for a beer just after the halfway point. I'd say that's a pretty good month. :)

Please add me to that list of DDD participants. No goal other than finishing. :)

I got in 81.78 miles this month and a total time of 12hrs 44min for an average of 9:20.5/mile. Not quite as many miles as I was hoping for, but I do feel decently stronger with my running.

ATTPQOTD: I don't know of any goals I have not posted before. BQ is my main focus right now.

ATTQOTD: My goals for the month were 140 miles and go to the track more.

Aug Totals:
Miles : 163.6
duration : 23:44:17
pace : 8:42

Over-achieved on mileage, which I am ok with, since I ended up running most of the planned runs, and went an extra mile or two some of the days. The track we attempt to use was locked several times on the nights we wanted to use, so ended up running on the neighborhood trails to get my speed-work, and was able to hit my pace on the planned speed workouts

August Monthly Mileage

Completed/Scheduled (%)
Running Miles - 275.44/284.5 (97%)
Running Time - 39:09:04/40:35:09 (96%)
Avg Pace - 8:32/mile

Overall happy with the effort. I missed one run (Grrr!) which was the first one I've missed this training cycle. Otherwise, pretty much everything went to plan. Only have less than 5 weeks until the marathon so this month will be even less (263.8 scheduled) as the taper starts mid-month. Fingers crossed!

ATTQOTD:
August total mileage: 193.67
Total time: 28:52:10
Pace: 8:57

I didn't have an August goal except to continue with Hansons. Doing terrible on strength training and missed 1 easy run while on vacation (blurrgh, couldn't hear my alarm clock!)

Anyways good luck to all the runners this weekend especially you crazy Dumbo kids! The highs are 78-82, yikes. I remember doing the 5k a few years ago with DH and was so surprised how warm it was, I was sweating standing around in line.

This is the first time I've reported monthly mileage -- I only just got back into running in July, so I didn't have a goal per se (other than to stick to my 3x/wk plan).

Running Miles: 48.59

I can't seem to figure out if there is a way to calculate time or pace (I'm using MapMyRun right now -- but I really want a Garmin), but my average pace has dropped from ~12-13min/mile to ~11min/mile, which I'm really happy about!

QOTD: Its the end of the month and time to post your monthly mileage. Earlier this month I asked what was your goals for the month. How did your actual compare to your goal?
Monthly mileage: 210
Average HR: 137
P90X: 12 hours

My goal was to maintain my base at 45 miles/week and to run a 16 miler. I exceeded both, averaging 47.4 miles/7 day week while also running a 16 miler and a 20 miler in August.

September has me officially starting my Dopey training program on 9/18, so I will be easing off a bit the next few weeks leading up to that. I want to be really energized when I kick off the Dopey training.

Yay, another runner catching the tri-bug! I can't recommend triathlon enough to runners...the BEST cross-training you can get. Biking and swimming are just so much easier on the body than running 5 or 6 days a week. Can you borrow a bike from someone to do a Sprint? A lot of the races around here also offer a "Try-a-Tri", which is half the Sprint distance...my first race was a try a tri on a borrowed road bike. I enjoyed it enough to get my own bike and continue on...I found a deal at the big box sports store and got a road bike for $400 which I still own today. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. We all have to start somewhere!
I haven't seen any try-a-tri events and while I have a few family members who cycle they're all either far shorter or far taller than me so I can't really borrow their bikes. I am going to join a local women's tri club though since they have a lot of good running and swimming events that I can participate in while looking for a road bike. They also apparently have a trading post on facebook so I might be able to find a used one on there.

For all the running shoe-aholics like myself, in this article about preventing running injuries, they cite a study that showed having multiple pairs of shoes lowered injury risk. I believe the words "the more shoes the better" were used :)

http://www.runnersworld.com/injury-prevention-recovery/5-tips-to-help-you-sidestep-injuries
They seem to imply I should have different models of shoes though which I found usually leads to pain on my part. I guess I just haven't found any that work for me beyond my Glycerins yet. Still, I'm always about having more shoes.

What was my goal for August? I think it was something about sticking to a training plan and losing weight. I lost 4.995% of my body weight this month but most of that was probably vacation weight since I lost most of it in the first week when I started eating healthy again. I did stick to my training plan for the most part I only cut the distance down twice, once because of weather and once because I was running late for work. I also shifted a Monday run to a Tuesday twice because I couldn't wake up on time after the weekend but I stuck to it pretty well which is all I can ask for.

Monthly Totals:
Miles: 57.02 (PR! +1.89 over my previous)
Time: 12:54:08
Avg. Pace: 13:35 (Just below 6 month avg.)

ATTQOTD: I can't believe I'm going to write this but here goes, my super secret and probably fantasy goal is to place in a race. I'm always in the back and a couple months ago at a race after watching the runners in the front pass by me on their way to the finish I told myself one day I will be in front.

I have the not-so-secret desire to slide into third place in my age one of these days, but I fear its mostly contingent on enough fast people staying home. More often than not during our really small local 5k races we get 2-3 very fast women in my age and then a large gap in pace and then a block of like ~28-35 min ladies and then a large gap and then walkers. So every time I pray that the stars align and only 2 fast women show up and I somehow can "win" out of the group of the other women runners....if that makes any sense. So far the best I have mustered is a sixth place after letting two people I thought were younger (oops) pass me right at the end. Could have been 4th...not that it would have counted. But that's just my neighborhood small runs. At all the mid-sized & big races I'm nowhere close to sniffing anything resembling the top. And now I've rambled.

QOTD: Its the end of the month and time to post your monthly mileage. Earlier this month I asked what was your goals for the month. How did your actual compare to your goal?
.

AUG miles: 57.2 miles PR! Goal was 60.
Sept goal: 70 miles. My coach has upped my paces so this month is gonna be a big challenge but I'm up for it.
Avg pace ???...that would require me looking at my stats so note to self to do that today

@LSUlakes This race is up in the air at this point if I run it or not. I'll be in St. Louis for a family event and it's on our departure day. I may have been overeager when signing up. The stars will have to align for it to work out logistically. If I do run, my goal is going to be to run full out and not hold back as a fitness test of sorts and also to help on the whole departure situation. It's gonna be 91 degrees that day though, blech. If I don't run...well I gave $20 to a nice charity :)

QOTD: Its the end of the month and time to post your monthly mileage. Earlier this month I asked what was your goals for the month. How did your actual compare to your goal?

My August running goal was being able to run the marathon during my Ironman...check! Only had to stop to walk 3 times, I'll call that a win.

August Mileage
Swim - 21,140m (13.1 miles) in 6:16:54, 1:47/100m
Bike - 334 miles in 16:57:36, 19.7mph
Run - 110 miles in 14:50:05, 8:06/mile

Total Time - 38:04:35

August Mileage. I hit another record high. I think I'm scheduled to do just a little more than this in September, but that should be my peak for a while.

Running Miles - 247.22
Running Time - 39:20:25
Avg Pace - 9:33/mile

Congrats on the new high!

ATTQOTD:

I jumped the gun and posted my August mileage earlier this morning, because I was actually finished with the month yesterday. My August goal was to continue to run 6 days/week according to my Hanson schedule. Looking back at each day, I did better this month than I did in the prior months where I had at least 1 compromised workout per month. I'm hopeful September is a little less humid than August and I can continue to hit my plan. My October 9 marathon is feeling a whole lot closer now than it did at the beginning of summer.

I completed 100.3% of my scheduled mileage at 98.7% of the scheduled total time.

@LSUlakes
Please add me down for the November 6 "bg Half Marathon". It's in Bowling Green, KY. I ran it last year, went out too fast... the first half of the race is pretty hilly. After the race I said I'd never run it again because I wasn't happy with my results. Within a week I was emailed a $16 off coupon, making this a $44 entry fee. They give very good swag, plus it takes place where my daughter attends college. So... I signed up to run it this year (basically a year in advance).

It's 4 weeks after my Chicago marathon. I have no time goal for this half. My only goal is to not go out quickly, so I can finish the race in a better mood this year.

Since we all need to start out September mileage this week...
