I'm hoping that if the rumors are true about doing away with marina parking then perhaps they will be incorporating a new, larger lot adjacent to the new MBYBBQ... the walk from the Settlement Depot is way too long IMO. About 1000' IIRC.

Personally with the abuses from golf carting around the Fort in the past few years, I wouldn't seeing less of them. We love biking and golf carts are a true danger to all. If we don't bike we take Disney transp. You're camping and you're on vacation...what's the rush! Enjoy your surroundings more, ride a bike or walk more.

Too many dangerous bikers and walkers. I find bikers and walkers just get in the way. I can't count the times I have almost been killed by a rogue biker or walker.

While everyone seems to be concerned about golf cart parking, how about bike parking. We always ride our bikes and do not have or rent a golf cart and I hold nothing against responsible golf cart opperators. My complaint is that the bikes have to be parked in the sand at the marina. Sand doesn't mix well with chains on a bike. Can't we just make everyone happy.

I don't think we need another DVC, but there isn't anything I can do about that. However, I am glad that something is being done to the rotting River Country location. It is long overdue.

What I don't understand is the animosity between Disney Guests. We see it quite frequently when we are talking to people. Often times we get the comment, "You're staying at the campgrounds. I would never camp." I guess people are just ignorant to the amenities of the campgrounds. On the bright side, that does make it better for us. I for one, would never stay anywhere else, it is much more relaxing. That's just my opinion.

We need to stop touting the positive aspects of the campground and camping. It's hard enough to get reservations. When all the DVC people discover they have wasted their money buying a vacation club membership, they are going to flood the market with said memberships and try to get into the Fort.

Golf cart's are no more dangerous (when driven correctly) then a bus, motor home, truck and trailer or a mini van and a pop up. But all of these drive around the Fort and bikers always want to ride around you when backing up your trailer at least golf carts stop and wait.

Would this be a "turbo charger" friendly track. I've seen some souped up lawnmowers that could make an easy transition.

I'm thinking first prize could be a ride down main street in your hot rod.

Some of us would love to walk or bike but NEED a golf cart to get around and enjoy "looping". My late mother in law, who had to rely on a walker to get around, was able to join us at the Fort a couple of years ago and had one one of the most fun times of her life riding around the loops seeing the 4th of July decorations and the variety of RVs and camping equipment. It is a fact that it made some of her last days on this earth more memorable. Should we eliminate golf carts or the rule violators who are the real danger? To borrow from the National Rifle Association: "Golf Carts don't kill! PEOPLE KILL!" Like my late MIL used to say don't throw out the baby with the bath water. There are some among us who would miss so much of what makes the Fort the Fort if we didn't have these efficient, environmentally friendly mobility devices for us to use. Wasn't it Charlton Heston who said, "you can have my golf cart when you pry my cold dead hands from the steering wheel!"

I'm not going to get in on the DVC vs. Campers debate, but I thought I'd throw out there that this stake is different than normal construction stakes.

This looks like its going to be used as a temporary benchmark, you can see it has a ground elevation written on it (GRD EL 98.4) and a reference number, but I wonder about the B-304?? That makes me think it has something to do with soil borings, but not sure why they would need them right there based on what TCD has found out. The other thing that doesn't make sense is why they would put the temporary benchmark in the trees like that, unless it was already there (maybe an old one close to the ground). TCD did this stake have a little stake at the bottom of it with a nail in the top? If so it would defintly be a temporary benchmark for when construction starts.

Sorry just thought I would point out some things that I was curious about.

I just wanted to mention that this past weekeind I asked one of the DVC folks at a booth in HS about all these rumors. He said they are never told ahead of time about what is being done. He said when they want to know what's going on, they check the DIS.

By the way thanks TCD for an excellent job getting the facts and sharing it all with us. In fact I was greatly relieved to see all your photos and info on your TR too. I had taken many of the same pics, but have little time to post. Glad you're on the job!
