Amanda went to a Mardi Gras ball last night with Matt. At midnight this is what happened........

Yes, he got down on one knee, in the middle of a ball and proposed...... I posted a video of his proposal on my facebook page

I hate that I couldn't be there. I had to work this weekend so I couldn't go .


I think it was rude of the rider to walk into their circle and just look at them and not say anythng. And I think I saw one with his mask off.......hmmmmmmmmm........they have to pay a hefty fine if they are caught without their masks. They don't want anyone to know who they are when they get sloppy drunk.............

Dana I am just stopping by to say hello-- congrats on Amanda and Matts engagement how exciting I am sure you are thrilled How has everything else been going? I see that your area is getting some snow also-- we got 2 feet on feb 6th then 8 inches 3 days later-- and now tonight into tomorrow 4-8 more-- i have had enough of this snow!! but i have been getting a lot of planning done for my disney trip in sept I am going to have to catch myself up on your PTR!! hope everything is going great for you

Thanks. I sure hope they wait the two years they are planning. I loved the snow. Dallas had so much fun. I can imagine you are tired of all the snow ya'll have been getting. I pretty much have my trip planned now we just have to wait it out . Things are going pretty good. I'm glad to be back to work .

Yesterday I decided that Dallas and I needed to run some errands today and get some stuff done. I got up and was thinking about what to do today. I decided I was going to take Dallas to his first Mardi Gras parade. I know it is sad that we live in a Mardi Gras city and have never taken him to a parade . So we were up and out of the house by 10:00. The parade was scheduled to start at 12:00 so I found a parking lot, paid my $10.00 and we stood right in front of the parking lot.

So we park, get out and the COLD wind hits like a brick in the face. What happens then???? It hits me that I have drank 2 diet Cokes in the span of 2 hours so now I have GOT to make a pit stop. Well, for those who have never been to Mardi Gras, the only place to go to the bathroom is a port-a-potty. I hate those things, but when you gotta go you gotta go. I looked around and the parking lot was full of them so I headed to one and it was padlocked . I asked the parking attendant and she said they were all locked. Dallas and I then set off on a quest for an open p-a-p. We walked down Government street and on the way I took some pictures.

Isn't it sad that the parking lot is where this once historical building was located?

We find a p-a-p and on the way back to our parade spot we couldn't help but stop and get something to eat. We both got a funnel cake.......yummmmmmmm and we shared a large strawberry lemonade. The cost for 2 funnel cakes and a lemonade? $21.00 . And I thought Disney was the only place that charged an arm and a leg for stuff like that.

We make our way back to our spot and sit down to eat our sweet treat and wait for the parade.

We had another hour or so before the parade started so we just sat and talked and waited, trying to stay warm.

The sun was really bright so we sat in it to stay warm

Lisa, if you look close you will see we took a Green Friend with us . Everyone will also notice that Dallas is covered in powered sugar .

I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted because my batteries were going dead on my camera. I didn't take my new camera, just my little Fuji and I haven't used it in a while so the batteries were not charged.

We had a great time and came home with the bag FULL of beads, stuffed animals, moon pies and various other throws. I'm not sure if I have to work tomorrow or not(waiting to see if my co-worker goes into labor) and if I am off we may go back down for tomorrow's day long festivities.

On the way home we stopped at Hobby Lobby and got some tee shirts and the transfer paper so I can make Dallas and me some shirts.

I forgot to add my new purchase to my Mardi Gras post. Thanks to all my Dis friends I have caught the Vera Bradley bug. Yep the VBB . I went to ebay and found a VB card holder for our trip and this is it

I like the blue colors better, but I was able to get this for $5.95 with free shipping. I am bidding on
VERA BRADLEY CARD HOLDER SYMPHONY IN HUE. If I win it I will give it to Amanda.

What a fun day Dana! I'm a huge funnel cake fan too. We always stop at the cart by the Epcot American exhibit and get one. YUM!

I think the wearing of the powdered sugar declares to others "YES I HAVE EATEN A FUNNEL CAKE AND IT WAS SO GOOD I WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW IT"...... If we go back tomorrow I may have to splurge and got another one, but this time we will just get one and share it. We threw more than half of ours in the garbage today.

LOVE the Mardi Gras pics! I have always wanted to go, but kinda scared to. I didn't realize that towns other than NO had parades and such.

Love the card holder in Rasberry Fizz---that's the same pattern I gave my girls' for their Valentines gifts.

Did you see on Lisa's PTR where she used her card holder to store her KTTW/room keys/APs ?? Elizabeth has a card holder that she got when she went to a VB birthday party at the VB store at the Summitt. I'm going to find that thing and borrow Lisa's idea!

BTW, this is not a VB bug----it is the beginning of a beautiful relationship!
