THE RETURN of THE WHATLEYS MAY 21-30. Our trip is done, now time for the TR :(

Amanda had Matt over tonight, as per their usual Wednesday night routine. She orders a movie from Netflix and they have movie night. I don't know why she orders from Netflix because she has on demand and she could just order one from there :rolleyes1. Anyway, as most of you know Niko hates Matt, why I don't know. Amanda and Matt have been dating almost 2 years and Niko acts like it is the first time he has seen Matt every time he comes over :rolleyes1. Well, Matt comes in the living room and Niko goes crazy :sad2:. Matt asks Dale and I if he could ask us something, we said sure. WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.......................He asks "Is it OK for me to ask Amanda to marry me? :scared1::eek: Boy we didn't see that one coming yet. Of course we tell him yes, but we also talk to him and let him know that they need to wait until they are both finished with school and have jobs. So I guess they will be shopping for a ring now. Maybe a Disney wedding? I just think they are toooooooo young to be thinking about getting married.

Hey, the GG breakfast sounds GREAT dude....congrats on the new future son in law??? MAYBE?? LOL Disney wedding would be AWESOME!!!! WOW!!! I remember when Chris went to my dad....my dad being the smarty britches that he is asked for a dowry!!!! LOL And had the "talk" and such....take care of my baby girl, etc. Now Chris and my dad are the best of friends!!! Maybe Niko sensed Matt's nervousness!!! Who knows. Anyways, off to work!! Happy Thursday!

I forgot to say congrats on the new camera!! How exciting!! It is a DSLR right? I have a Nikon D60 and really like it. I hope to take much better pics this time.

Wow, on the Matt and Amamnda. Poor Niko is never going to recover LOL. Hopefully it will be a loooooooooong engagement.

I think the Tony's looks good, the only problem is that we have BBB and CRT on Wed am. I could do Sat but thats Leanne's last day. Hmmm, we will work something out.

Woah! What an exciting movie night!

I need to go back and look at our plans and see I can work Tony's in somehow. I had to do a lot of shifting around to get both the Luau and Hoop Dee Doo worked into our plans. I also have to remember Star Wars Weekends which is not something I am looking forward to but Hunter has his heart set on it.

Congrats on the future wedding! A Disney Wedding would certainly be exciting to say the least :woohoo:
Too funny about Niko. when I was younger we had a dog that did not like my brother.?? He lived in the house with us of course, so that was weird. Dogs are funny little things!

And wow, that breakfast sounds awesome!

:wave2: Hi Dana! I saw your sig line on another post and had to link over...A fellow Alabamaian who cheers for the official state university ;) and a DISer who will be at Disney around the same time as us!

I managed to read most of your 29 pages and counting PTR and I don't blame you for changing resorts. Sounds like a good plan to me. Stay somewhere less expensive, and you get a new SLR camera and to go back to Disney?!?! :thumbsup2

We'll be at Disney May 22-28. Probably staying at Beach Club, or a split stay between BC and the Contemporary. Those AP rates are too good to pass up.

Looking forward to reading more as we plan our trips! :)

WOW Dana! What excitement you've had the last couple of weeks! How exciting. My Mom and Dad's vow renewal is the Disney Fairy Tale Escape Wedding package. I'll be sure to give it a thorough review on the DIS when we get back. I love Niko; he is such a character. :goodvibes I can fit the Tony's thing in on Saturday also if that works for the rest of the group. Might me a fairwell before we head home...we're leaving out at probably 6:30 that evening. :goodvibes

Congrats! to Amanda and Matt!!! and you and Dale adding to the family!!!
that is so sweet that he asked for your permission...Danny did not do that; I just came home with a ring and it started from there
:wave2:Connie

Congrats to Amanda and Matt!! What an exciting night! How fun would a Disney wedding be?!

We looked into the GG Tony's breakfast last Fall, but by the time I called (right around the 90 day mark), it was already full! So I would definitely book it ASAP!! :)

Thanks Christie, I am hoping they stick to the plan to wait 2 years because I don't want them to rush into anything. She put the skids on a Disney wedding because she doesn't want to cause a problem for the people they are inviting by making them have to make a trip to Orlando and get rooms and so forth. The thing about the dowry would be YOU would be the one who had to have the dowry to give to Chris' family...........lol.

Thanks Mary. I can't wait to get my hands on the camera and start taking pictures. Yes it is a DSLR and I hope I can figure it out......:rotfl:.

Tony's is just one idea. We can do the cruise if ya'll would like, or we could all meet up at a park, have a CS meal and just hang out for a while, I am game for anything as long as we all get to meet up.

Yeah Lisa it was an exciting movie night :scared1:.

We don't have to do Tony's. Like I posted to Mary, we could all meet up in a park and have a CS and just play it that way. Then no one has to really change up any plans and the day wouldn't matter at all. I just want us all to get together and meet up :thumbsup2.

Congrats on the future wedding! A Disney Wedding would certainly be exciting to say the least :woohoo:

And wow, that breakfast sounds awesome!

Thanks Pam. That is too funny about your family dog :rotfl2:. Dogs are funny little things, they pick and choose who they want to be around.

I am just looking forward to a big meet I wish you could be there too.

Welcome Michelle :welcome: and thank you for coming over to my PTR.

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!! I am still so happy about the National Championship. There is going to be quite a big group of us at Disney. I just hope they are ready for us :lmao:.

Your stay is going to be great too :thumbsup2. Wow BC and CR ya'll are gong to have fun. I looked at doing a split stay between CBR and the Poly, but DH just didn't want to pick up in the middle of the trip and move resorts. I am excited about my camera, I am going to the UPS site in a few and see if they have added a new scan :surfweb:.

I'm glad you are here to help with our plans, the more the merrier and more ideas :thumbsup2.

It has been a very crazy week and it seems to be getting more crazy as the week goes on. I can't wait to hear about your parents renewal so I can plan mine :rolleyes1. Amanda said she didn't want to put prospective guests out by having the wedding so far from home.
The breakfast would be fun, but it isn't the only thing we could do. I want it to be something we can all join in on and not feel rushed or anything. A meeting at a park for a CS meal would be fine, or even meeting up at DDT or a resort. It looks like Mary, Becky, you and I will all be at 'Ohana the same day and close to the same time.

Congrats! to Amanda and Matt!!! and you and Dale adding to the family!!!
that is so sweet that he asked for your permission...Danny did not do that; I just came home with a ring and it started from there
:wave2:Connie

Thanks Connie, my first proposal when like your's and Danny's. My second one was ME doing the proposing........:lmao:
I thought it was really nice that he came and asked up too. Amanda said today he has a ring, but he won't tell her anything about it, or when he is going to give it to her or how he is going to go about it.

I will tell her Julia. I think a Disney wedding would be a dream come true, for me anyway :rotfl:.

WOW that did fill up fast so we may be out of luck now. I just want a big ole get together, you know the kind we have here in the South, where Uncle Bobby wears his knee socks with his shorts and dress shoes :lmao: and Aunt Magnolia constantly complains about how hot it is and "why did we have this thing outside? Doesn't anybody have a church fellowship hall we could have used?" "The large gathering of people we love and only get to see once every year or so at family reunions Southern thing".........:lmao:.

WARNING: IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP THIS POST

The color of my post is the color I am feeling right now. Wednesday was not a good day at all. It has been a really bad week and yesterday only got worse. Dale woke me up at 6:30 saying Niko was sick. I got up and when I got into the living room Niko was laying in the corner of the living room. I went to him and he was lethargic and wouldn't move. I picked him up and he was like a limp rag. Dale said he was fine when he first got up at 5:00 but about 6:00 or so he started throwing up. After I picked Niko up he whimpered like he was hurting. I didn't know what in the world it could have been so I asked Dale if maybe he was bitten by something when they went out and Dale said if he had been Niko didn't cry out or anything. About this time Niko passes gas and I swear to you it was the most horrid smell known to man. It didn't click with me yet what was going on and Dale was almost in panic mode. I got out our vets card and the office didn't open until 7:30 and the emergency clinic opened at 7:00 so I told Dale I would call our vet at 7:30. Dale left and went to work and things went from bad to worse and when I say worse I mean worse. Niko began having diarrhea along with the vomiting. I was cleaning up behind him as fast as I could, but I couldn't keep up with him. I got Tyler out of bed and told him I needed some help and let him know I was going to take Niko to the vet. Then I noticed something terrifying, it wasn't stool coming out of Niko it was blood and blood clots. I got the vets office on the phone and told them what was going on and they said the vet would be in at 8:30 to just go ahead and bring him in. I got dressed, wrapped Niko in a towel and rushed to the vets office. Thank goodness it is only 2 miles from my house. I drove there holding Niko like a baby in my left arm. Those of you that know about Niko know that he barks and growls at every moving thing around. We got in the office and Niko didn't make a sound. We were put in a room and the Tech came in and we weighed him and then she took Niko's temp and he didn't even bother to look at her. The doctor came in right behind her and looked at him and she pretty much knew right away what it was. I also told her that he was red on his stomach and ears, she said that looked like an allergic reaction to something :confused3. She then proceeds with her exam and asks "Is his stomach tender?" at which time she palpates his abdomen and

WARNING HERE IS THE WORST PART

massive, or it looked massive to me, amounts of blood and clots shot out of him and then the odor. Then it hit me that horrible smell is the smell of a GI bleed.
She asks me if Niko had gotten into the garbage or anything lately and I told her no and then came the MILLION DOLLAR question. Has he been eating table scraps????????????? And I told her yes, Dale is notorious about feeding Niko from his plate and Monday night he gave Niko hamburger helper. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER feed your dog foods that are high in fat content, you know all those things dogs love so well, bacon, sausage, hamburger meat, PIZZA. Turns out Niko has pancreatitis caused by eating food high in fat content. The vet then drew some blood, from a neck vein, and Niko did nothing noda. She then gave him a shot to help with the nausea. They ran the blood work and his amylase and lipase were so high they wouldn't even register on the machine, meaning of course his pancreas is inflamed. Before she came back to give me the results and treatment options Niko wagged his tail, and blood was running down his tail, when he wagged it blood went EVERYWHERE on the walls, the floor, the chairs, the doctor's stool, everywhere. It looked like a slaughter had taken place in that room. So she says Niko has to stay at there for 48 hours on IV fluids and IV antibiotics, he can't have anything oral so his gut can rest. They give me the itemized bill and it is going to cost $665.38 for his treatment. Dallas has been crying all day and he called the vets office before they closed to check on Niko.

When the new year started I was full of hope that it would be a much better year and here we are just two weeks in and so far it has been a very stressful year with a few good things mixed in, but a lot of bad things too.

PRAYING FOR GINNY

Oh my goodness, what a day!! I'm so sorry for poor Niko! I can only imagine how scary that was for both of you. I hope the IV fluids and antibiotics help him!

Dana- kee us posted. I hope Niko will be ok! I'm posting from my phone in wdw.

I'm so sorry about Niko!! I'm praying he will be ok!

That's very exciting about Amanda and Matt!! I got married when I was 19 (almost 20) but Brent was 25 (almost 26). I had 2 years of college behind me and Brent already had a very stable job as an engineer (I did finish my degree and even got my Masters as well). We'll be celebrating 11 years of marriage this year!! We met at church my senior year of high school--I never thought that I would meet my husband that soon but God had other plans! Just wanted to give you some encouragement about their ages!! :goodvibes

Dana! Dana! Dana!

Why can't any of us get a break? It seems like once we think we're at the top of the crap hill and ready to go down, something else happens. Know that we are thinking about you all and will keep Niko in our prayers.

Hugs,

Lisa

Poor Niko, that is so sad. Poor puppy. That had to be so scary. I hope he will be better soon!

What's going on with Ginny?

Oh, Dana, I am so sad for little Niko. I love our little dog so much ( a pug, named Millie), I know I would be worried sick if something like that happened to her.

I am hoping that Niko will be feeling better and wagging his tail again real soon! :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, what a day!! I'm so sorry for poor Niko! I can only imagine how scary that was for both of you. I hope the IV fluids and antibiotics help him!

I felt so bad for him. I have never seen him so sick. I have never seen any dog that sick. I can remember growing up and all we ever fed our outside dawg(yes he was a dawg, a Heinz 57....:rotfl:) was table scraps. I have been checking on him about every 4 hours during the day. The doctor told me on Thursday that he could probably come home Saturday. Today the tech I spoke with was less than friendly, and acted as if I was bothering her. She says "There is nothing new to report. He is the same as he was earlier today":scared1:. I asked if Niko would still be coming home on Saturday and her response to me was " I would seriously doubt it, I don't know what the doctor told you yesterday because I wasn't here, but I don't think he will be going home for at least another 48 hours. I will have the doctor call you tomorrow". :scared1:. So, first thing in the morning Dale and I will be at the vets office and I intend to let them know they need to have a sensitivity training class for their techs.

Dana- kee us posted. I hope Niko will be ok! I'm posting from my phone in wdw.

Thanks April. I am starting to really get worried about Niko. I haven't seen him since yesterday and when I left him he was soooooooooo sick. We're going to the vets office in the morning.
I am going to head over to your page. I haven't had a chance to even go on twitter today. I had to go to my Mom's and help out there for a while. I hope you are having a great time.

I'm so sorry about Niko!! I'm praying he will be ok!

Thank you Becky. I can't stand the idea that he may be hurting.

It is exciting about Amanda and Matt. He is a good Christian boy from a very good family. Matt is like Dallas and me. He is a later in life child. My mom was 39 when I was born, I was 35 when Dallas was born and Matt's mom was 37 when he was born and all of us have siblings 9 years older......:rotfl:. I know I come up with some strange things.
I was 21 when I got married the first time. I felt as if I was ready, but my ex was very immature. 11 years plus the time you and Brent dated and were engaged means ya'll have been together for a good amount of time. Amanda is a year ahead of Matt so he isn't scheduled to graduate until 2011. I think it will be fine, Amanda has her head on right. She is budgeting $10,000 for the whole thing, wedding, dress, food, honeymoon......etc. I told her to at least add another $5,000 and she might be getting close :lmao: One advantage to marrying Matt is that his mother owns a florist and catering business :thumbsup2

You know Lisa I was thinking the same thing. I just wonder :sad2:. I was shocked to hear some of the news we have been dealt the past week.
Thanks for keeping Niko in your prayers. I started crying in Walmart tonight. I try so hard not to let Dallas see me break down because I don't want him to worry. He has such a big heart as it is and if I cry it just tears him up. I know God doesn't give us more than we can stand, but I swear I think my back is just about to break.

Poor Niko, that is so sad. Poor puppy. That had to be so scary. I hope he will be better soon!

What's going on with Ginny?

Thank you Mary. I can't get the way Niko was looking at me out of my mind. Poor baby was hurting. I know how painful pancreatitis can be for humans and I just can't imagine how it must feel for a poor dog :sad1:.

Thank you Michelle. I hate getting so attached to an animal. I worry about how poor Dallas will react if Niko doesn't get better.

I can't wait until he is wagging his tail again either.
