That's why we aren't actually going into LA proper :rotfl:

Good decision.:thumbsup2

And hopefully the spring break crowds are gone since we are there a full 2 weeks after easter.

I am hoping so too!

VERY nice about the new glasses, they are not cheap.

My broken glasses were over 300 dollars and that was 8 years ago....Armani..

I remember when I married my ex, some of his relatives having a heart attack because there would be African American's at the wedding/reception. They were from the south (rural) and were "scared".

It broke my heart to hear it. Everything about it.

It's still out there, but thankfully, less and less so. It had been over 10 years since my last racial incident. It happened a lot in the early 90's in Central Cal.

Aww, thanks Jordan for sharing your retreat pics with us!!

Oopsie on the glasses!! So glad I don't have to wear them anymore or contacts!!

Ugh to the racist folks!!!!! I don't do good at all with anybody being racist. If I am around and I hear it...I cant help myself. I go all southern-crazy-woman on them and just let them know that they are ignorant!
I remember one time we had the KKK show up for a Christmas parade and they were demanding to have their own personal float in the parade. Well, the City where I live turned them down. So..they show up at different post during the Christmas parade. I walked right past one of them and totally stomped his foot, called him a coward and asked him, "Oh, your so tough! Why not show your face!!!! IDIOT!!" Oh wow...I wish you could have seen the look on the faces of everyone around!! But, I couldn't stand it!!!
Needless to say, our parade is now invitation only!

Can you believe this. I LOVE glasses! I think I look better with them than without them...vain, I know it.....

I know there's a KKK chapter in Anaheim somewhere, but because So Cal is so diverse ethnically, they are deep underground.

LOL that you stomped on his foot. I personally thank you. That takes courage to do what you do and also a little bit of crazy southern woman:thumbsup2

I was all atwitter to tell you that my mom lived in Ventura back in the 1960's until I read about the ugliness encountered there on your retreat. Not so eager to share now.

Racism and traffic -- definitely two of my biggest pet peeves!!! :headache:

Glad you had a good weekend otherwise. :goodvibes

I know a few people from that area that are sooooo nice. so no worries!

I really, really don't like traffic. Really. Don't know many people who actually like traffic.

It was an amazing weekend.

The racist comments are disturbing. I hate it that things like that still happen.

Good job on the glasses fix! When I was a kid and I broke my glasses (which happened all too frequently!), I would "secretly" super glue them because I never wanted to tell my parents that I had broken them. My mom has since told me that it was very obvious that I had super glued my glasses, but she wanted to see how long it would take for me to fess up!

It's great to hear about such a wonderful weekend. You do a very important job!

Wendy - such a sweet picture of Ashlyn and Jordan's brother. Your children are beautiful.

Because California is SO diverse, it's so weird that there's still racism and prejudice out there. Although, did you know Asians are all leery of each other?

The glasses story is funny.:rotfl2::rotfl2:. I wonder if your mom would secretly be laughing.... I used to break mine all the time too. I went through 6 pairs in 18 months....parents NOT happy.

So...no baby yet?

My glasses were awful!!!! They were like a clear pink color..:lmao: Then I moved on to contacts. They didn't bother me, but after my laser surgery my eyes were singing to me like, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" :rotfl2:

Thank goodness we dont' see them hardly anymore. Of course, that incident was in 1993.

lol!! I can't help it! I can't stand to see anyone being nasty or ugly to anyone else and I just have to say something!! I am very blunt and outspoken (which can be a bad thing).

Let me tell you this story of how outspoken I am...me, my mom, my sister, and Hollie were at the mall one day. Hollie was about 8 months old. WE got in the elevator and this teenage boy and his girlfriend got in with us. They were probably 15 and 14. Anyways, Hollie is waving and smiling at them and the girl is looking at Hollie like she is a germ or bug that is about to latch on her. She actually gave Hollie a dirty look!!! I immediately looked at my mom (who I can embarrass really easily) and said, "You know what bugs me?? People who are so rude that when a small baby looks at them and smiles, they look at the baby like its gonna eat them or that the baby is a germ. That bugs me!" Then I looked at this girl and said, "When my baby smiles and waves at you...you smile and wave back if you want to keep your limbs attached....got it???? Don't even look at my baby without so much as a huge smile on your face" OH MY GOSH....my mom was about to pass out!! My sister starts laughing and the guy is like uh oh.... But, I was still kind of hormonal and just could not understand why people are the way they are!! :lmao:

I am telling you..crazy southern lady!! ;)

So sorry about the racist comments. Can't believe in 2010, its still exists. :sad2:

Not funny, but, your glasses....:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Jordan. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Love the photos. I can't believe you had to deal with racism. Unbelievable that it's so bad in the town that the hotel has to warn you. Are you going to tell us why they prayed for you for 2 hours?

Not funny, but, your glasses....:rotfl::rotfl:

In many areas of Los Angeles, it's the African Americans vs. the Hispanics. Hard to watch on the news...how can we help. We're on our knees for sure...:littleangel:

When people saw the glasses, people were laughing because.....well...it was me.
