The fact that you had to deal with racism...

I sometimes forget I'm Asian..then BAM....I get over it pretty quick.

The fact that you were able to fix your crazy broken glasses...

I did the best I could. They sit on my head funny. I definitely have to get new ones this week.

My glasses broke again this morning when I took them off....I'm gonna need new ones sooner than later...plus I look nerdy...

It looked like you had a pretty good weekend, with a couple of exceptions that were either forgotten (racial slurs) or remedied (broken glasses) pretty quickly.

How funny that you carry crazy glue with you. If I ever need to glue a hard hat to a steel girder and flail my feet wildly in the air, I'll know who to call.

The glue comes in handy single use tubes 4 to a pack. I highly recommend having it on hand...you just never know when you'll run into a steel girder....

I hate long traffic!! As long as we're moving I'm okay but when you get to a point of sitting still.....UGH!!!!


And WTH is up with the racist stuff??? FOR REAL!! The homless dude..... I seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry at that.

Well, you already know how I am with rude people. I may have gotten everyone in more trouble than it was worth.

Glad that the retreat itself was good and that you got some good praying going on!

There was a lot of sitting still. That's when we started taking pictures. It was on this same stretch of freeway 24 years ago when I rolled down my window and screamed, "I hate traffic!!!!" After spending 2.5 hours going 30 miles.

It was actually kind of funny. She's gonna buy me a new pair

I guess I'm not surprised, but as a person of color, it's a painful reminder of what's happened in the past.

It was a great weekend.

That's why we aren't actually going into LA proper

And hopefully the spring break crowds are gone since we are there a full 2 weeks after easter.

VERY nice about the new glasses, they are not cheap.

I remember when I married my ex, some of his relatives having a heart attack because there would be African American's at the wedding/reception. They were from the south (rural) and were "scared".

It broke my heart to hear it. Everything about it.

Well, I don't think he's in a postition to be judging anyone at all. I suspect some of that attitude is what got him where he is in the first place. *Sigh* None of it makes sense. I suppose that is why we should pray for these people.

If you are speaking of Wendy, my cousin, no. Although, we are so close that people would often joke that we were boyfriend/girlfriend in a Dueling Banjos kind of way.

I did see "the girl" that I am sort of interested in this weekend..No spark....

Exactly. Who knows what his circumstances were. He may have been damaged physically or emotionally by someone of Asian descent...so he may have reasons behind his hatred....

I'm more and more burdened by the homeless. we have so many near our church.

Oopsie on the glasses!! So glad I don't have to wear them anymore or contacts!!

Ugh to the racist folks!!!!! I don't do good at all with anybody being racist. If I am around and I hear it...I cant help myself. I go all southern-crazy-woman on them and just let them know that they are ignorant!
I remember one time we had the KKK show up for a Christmas parade and they were demanding to have their own personal float in the parade. Well, the City where I live turned them down. So..they show up at different post during the Christmas parade. I walked right past one of them and totally stomped his foot, called him a coward and asked him, "Oh, your so tough! Why not show your face!!!! IDIOT!!" Oh wow...I wish you could have seen the look on the faces of everyone around!! But, I couldn't stand it!!!
Needless to say, our parade is now invitation only!

I was all atwitter to tell you that my mom lived in Ventura back in the 1960's until I read about the ugliness encountered there on your retreat. Not so eager to share now.

Racism and traffic -- definitely two of my biggest pet peeves!!!
