I have yet to try Tonga Toast, but I think macadamia nut pancakes sound yummier!

Kathy

I'm with you!!"m doing the macadamia nuts too. Mushed banana sounds like something in my opinion, just, I dunno- gross- I see OhMari's faint warning up there- so I'm really going to try to behave myself. It's difficult.

Great update. A few thoughts:

~ Isn't winkers sweet? She is VERY easy. Easy to talk to that is.

~ The Tonga Toast looks like a big brick of powdered covered elimination! It looks gnarly to me. And it's filled with banana- even worse. :rotfl: ETA: Saw OhMari's warning.

~ Your June fest sounds like SO much fun. I wish I could go and could maybe swing it alone but with Gabby's bat mitzvah next year, I am sure it will take me that long to get out of debt paying for it. Those things cost as much as a wedding. :faint: Have fun. if I was able to go, I would vote land/sea. :thumbsup2

I have still yet to try the tonga toast. Cute pics of you and Miss Winkers!!!!

Too funny that you've taken photos of your underwear, well that's what I assume choonies are :rotfl:

I don't like bananas so Tonga Toast is off limits to me plus it's enormous :faint: But..... I did like the strawberry sauce that came with it :rotfl:

And that's where the adventure begins....I will let Winkers tell the story on her TR....let's just say the fare from Pop to Poly is about 15 dollars...our total was 31 dollars.:scared1: I paid 20. We still managed to get there with in our ADR time frame...I think.

You got the scenic route??? :rotfl:

Had to get a picture of Cherie and I:

That's a great picture!

We got sat rather quickly. Service was a bit slow, but we didn't care. Carolyn was our server and let us know she burnt her hand on coffee and showed us the burn marks on her hand. I hope none of the puss made it into my meal as extra flavor...:rolleyes1. Really there was no puss..that I saw.

:rotfl: Ewwwwwwwwwwww breakfast puss...

Another nice picture!!

The strawberry puree stuff looked nasty. It was too sweet for my taste. The Tonga Toast was okay. I am not a French Toast person. I love banana pancakes so I figured I'd like this too. It was too rich for me. I am glad I tried it. I wouldn't turn it down, but I'd probably get the Big Kahuna plate next time. I may be the only person alive that isn't in love with Tonga Toast, but more for you guys...:thumbsup2

I tried the Tonga Toast the first time we ate breakfast at Kona, and I "liked" it for a dessert... but not for breakfast. I do like regular not rolled in sugar and stuffed with bananas French toast though. ;) Dh ended up eating most of it. He doesn't like sweets at all, but he likes me wasting food less. :rolleyes1

It was like a housecoat. At least it looked comfortable.

Hmmm it reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer says "I don't want to look like and idiot, give me the Mumu!" :rotfl:

On sunday we had a chicken lunch fundraiser at church. I took home 12 extra dinners. I gave 4 to my fixed income parents. I thought of taking some to those who had signs saying "homeless. need help" So I drove along Beach Blvd and found a few folks with signs. However, both people said they didn't want food, only cash. I mean I guess they have their reasons, but I got discouraged and just came home. Sometimes it's not about the act of giving, but the obedience to go out and do it in the first place-no matter what the result. I have no judgement against those 2 individuals....well I did, but I am trying to love like He does.

Good for you for trying... unfortunately that is an all too familiar story I've heard.... even one kind hearted sole having food items thrown back at them in disgust... I don't get it. :confused3

hat cab ride is like taking a cab in NY...actually WDW's cabs are more expensive. Crazy isn't it!? I liekd Tonga Toast BUT the Macadamia Nut Pancakes were SOOO good and you can get Tonga Toast for a lower price at Capt Cooks.

Jordy, I have to say the land part would work for me, I don't do well on boats, and I would be concerned about the money going into it. With that in mind I would love to do a 8-9 day trip staying at the POP. If Amanda (Pipersmom) can swing it, she's talked about trying to come as well. :woohoo: I'm pretty sure she would only do the land portion. Wouldn't that be a hoot having a lot of peeps in the POP!
Besides it will be my year of turning 40! :yay: So it's will be a celebration for me as well. Let's see, that's You, Rosie, her friend Christina (hope I got that right) and I can't remember what other wonderful Diser said it was their birthday? :confused3 :woohoo: This will be a celebration to beat all other celebrations!! Would love to be a west coaster just to fly in with Leisa, Cynthia, and Cherie....I know I'm leaving someone off of here...Terry's wife! Sorry I forgot your name. :guilty: I know you live in Oregon, does that count for anything?!? :goodvibes That would be one heck of a flight, we would be banned for sure from the airline, after that flight. :rotfl:

I haven't got the foggiest clue what I'm doing in 2012 but I would try to make it for part of the land portion, even if I'm solo. Which means my Texas sista and family could come up to Dallas and fly with me where it's cheaper! I promise to behave. :littleangel:

That has happened to me before too (having food turned down not thrown at me). There was a guy in law school that hung out by the bars and rumor had it (he was super nice and cheerful and not crazy acting) that he made over $30K a year begging and actually had a decent apartment a couple towns over....

No wonder I can't get started on my own TR it takes me hours just to catch up on yours let alone everyone elses!

what???? :scared1: oh, the horror!!!! blasphemy! how could you not love it????? actually, i totally get it. i think i'm the only person on the disboards who doesn't like ohana. i thought it was loud and chaotic and the meat was dry and gross. but that's just me. and like you said....more for everyone else! i love tonga toast so much though that i attempt to make it home...and it's not easy!

I not only LOVED the Tonga Toast, but I DID eat the whole thing in one sitting (including the sausage that came with it).

I have considered learning to make it at home, but for the time being, I am on a low carb diet and have removed bread and potatoes from my list of edibles. It's horrible.

ETA: I used to love going to Ohana but I have left it off our ADR list for this year. I think I'm outgrowing it.

For what it is worth if you do a short trip in Feb count me in!!!

This may be more feasible for us than going in June, as well. We could come for a few days and hang out in Feb and then have enough time to refill the bank account before we go again in October. Things to consider......

I have to go back and re-read the update when I get home because my crusty work computer filters out the pictures so I can't see the woman in the reverse snuggie. But I'm dying to laugh at her. And NOW I have to go over to Cherie's PTR and find the cab story! This is like an Easter Egg Hunt only there aren't little kids running around and there is no boiled egg smell...:thumbsup2

Heck yeah that counts...

I have been called worse... :lmao:

One of us is going to have to be in charge of making sure the pilot does try and jump for it...

I found Rosies TR ... then Winkers...then Blues and obviously then had to go to Jordy's!

Sooooooooooooo I spent all of Sunday in my PJ's on the laptop reading the 2008 Pre-TR and TR...and I had to read every page to get all the funny stories and comments.

Now, I'm scheduling from 5pm-10pm nightly and all day Sat and Sun to catch up on the 2009 trip! hmm, I think I have becoming addicted to Jordy.

I think you guys are a hoot! and have loved reading all the funnisms and seeing the great pics thus far..and I'm now thinking I can never write a Pre-Tr or TR cause it just won't be as good. Love you Guys!

By the way, nice to meet you as I have been lurking on your pages and hadn't said HI yet.!. :rolleyes1

Hello Jordan, For starters, did you wear the black and white plaid chonies in the upper right corner?
I have always wanted to try Kona, but we keep cancelling because it is too early. I always have the best of intentions to eat at 7 and make it to MK before rope drop, but we usually end up sleeping in!
It was so kind of you to try to give out the extra meals. We own a barbeque restaurant, and a few years ago our walkin cooler was damaged. We had cases of pork shoulder that we had to get rid of until we received a new cooler, the local shelters and food banks would not take them! They were still on ice and packaged too. Sometimes you can't win!:confused3

No wonder I can't get started on my own TR it takes me hours just to catch up on yours let alone everyone elses!

Lol. That's my problem. I've been working on my 2008 TR since...we'll 2008...and it's STILL not done. Heck, I have a scrapbook I need to get finished for my mom of our '08 trip...and what am I doing...DISing. :D

I'm all for chocolate covered peanuts, crackers, cookies, candy...but marshmallows? Ick.

OMG first I have to say that Wendy's kids just get cuter and cuter in every picture. And Dylan has awesome camera skills :thumbsup2

Thanks for the compliment... sometimes they waver between the "cute" stage and "grown up" stage so I'm waiting for their awkward, not so cute stage (goodness knows *I* had that - for way too long, I think)... but for the most part they're pretty entertaining. You'll see as Jordan't TR progresses.

And yes, Dylan is my budding photographer... he just LOVES the camera! He takes some interesting shots but entertaining nonetheless... maybe in the future he'll be our DIS poster and provide all the photos for our trips... :rolleyes1

How is your dad doing, Wendy?

your kids are so cute , I can't see them going through the awkward stage. Looking at my pictures, I hit that around 10 and never grew out of it.
