The Remy Thread-Chefs de France (schedule in 1st post)

I can't answer but one suggestion call to double check times. We booked a dinner months ago based on the Remy schedule we were given but when I called recently the times were all different so we switched to lunch. I think the first time he comes out may be 1230. I made a 1pm based on a 140 Remy scheduled time.

O.k. so, I have a weird question. In September, I made ADRs for Les Chefs for 12:30pm so we could see Remy. We are very excited to see him because my kids just love that movie. So my question is, when he comes to your table, what does he do? I mean, does he talk, does he squeak, do we talk to him and if so what kind of things do you talk to him about. Any sort of info for those that have seen him before would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want him to come to our table and then we have nothing to say to him....I kind of like to be prepared. TIA

Remy just moves his head and squeaked, while his 'handler' asks him questions and helps him interact with the kids. Our boys said hi to Remy, and talked with him about making soup, and what they should order. They asked if he made the soup today, and he nodded and squeaked. The handler listed menu items, asking whether the boys would order them, and Remy squeaked and nodded "yes" to the mac and cheese. I was taking pictures (our table was in a good spot for that - circular, so I got all three boys, the handler and Remy in the photo) and it was all pretty quick. Our youngest wanted for Remy to come back, but understood that Remy needed to go back to the kitchen to make more soup!

I'm glad you had such a nice experience with Remy!!

I am hoping he is still there for our July trip. We're going to Chefs for lunch on the last full day of our trip (it's on a Thursday) and we have a 12PM ADR. My boys would be thrilled if they could see him...but I haven't even mentioned it to them because I don't want to risk disappointing them. DH and I decided that if he is there, it will be a great surprise for them and if he is not, they won't know anyway and we will all just enjoy a nice lunch.

Thank you!! This is what we were thinking, too. We would definitely return, even without Remy - it was such a great lunch. Have a great trip!

It will be our first time eating at Chefs de France. We were planning to go there anyway, for the food and the experience, but the possibility of Remy being there just makes it even better! We're really looking forward to lunch there! DH LOVES escargots and I know he will try some in there...I like them too but he definitely MUST have them!!!!

What did you eat there? The quiche lorraine looks fantastic, but the flatbreads also look great from the app menu and I could definitely make a lunch out of one of those!

It was very, very difficult to decide! Some of my choices were based on what my oldest (a "disney adult") wanted to share. So I ordered a very yummy salad and shared the mac and cheese with him. My oldest and my husband ordered cups of the onion soup, and they loved it! And then we had two kids' meals for our youngest and middle sons. But the quiche looked great, and so did the ham and cheese, the cheese plate, and the flatbreads. I don't think I would order the mac and cheese again - I'd try one of these others. That's why we need to go back!

We loved the mac and cheese. We also had the ham and cheese sandwich, it was very good too.

That's the right attitude!!! I say that no matter what I try, if we really fall in love with this place, we will keep going back on future trips! I sometimes get obsessed with food on vacation, so you'll have to excuse me! :rotfl:

Knowing myself I will end up trying the quiche.

i was watching one of the video's on disneyworld.com that said Remy is at the restaurant 4 times a day -

does anyone know what the times are that he's there.

When I went in Sept. he was there about 10 minutes after opening and went to each table. I heard he was only temporary so not sure if he is still there. He also suggest the Ratatouille :)

Inside Les Chefs de France.
Monday-Saturday at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 & 5:20pm

These times are listed on
http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/index.htm

which lists times for the upcoming week only - they could change at any time - but these are typically the times Remy has shown up since he started appearing. Remy and his handler will enter at the above times and then take about 25-30 minutes to work their way around the restaurant.

yay! i have a 5:30 dinner reservation there for a tuesday in may so i think we'll get to see remy!

I made a lunch ADR for 12:30pm for our September trip just so we can see Remy, but of course we also wanted to try out the food too :goodvibes. Both of my DDs love that movie and they are going to be so ecstatic once they find out that they can actually talk to the little guy. I can't wait, just hoping they don't do away with him before we are there.

If seeing Remy is important, I might suggest moving your reservation to 12:10 or so. Remember that you will often not be seated right at your reservation time, and if you're seated at 12:40 or so at a table that Remy has already passed, you'll miss him.

As far as I can tell, he only makes one pass through the restaurant at each time - it isn't like the character meals, where you're guaranteed a visit from the characters.

If you stick with 12:30, be sure to mention Remy when you check in, and ask to be seated at a table that Remy hasn't already visited. This could still be dicey, because the reception staff is probably not tracking his progress through the restaurant.

Thanks for the tip, I think I will take your advice and get an earlier ADR, we are going there mainly for the food, but we would love to see Remy too :goodvibes

I am not sure I would count on that for the time reservation you have. Most likely you will not be seated exactly at 5:30 - you might have to wait a bit. And then Remy may have already passed the section where you will be seated. You might just see him at a distance. You are not permitted to approach while he is visiting other tables. See the above post - I'd suggest you move your reservation earlier if Remy is important to you.

I echo the sentiments of the previous posters. When we were there in October, Remy started his rounds pretty much on time and goes through the restaurant stopping at each seated table, but if you are in the process of being seated or not yet seated, he doesn't come back to your table. If seeing (and interacting with) Remy is really important, I'd try to move your reservation to 5:00 or even 4:45 so that you are going to be seated by the time he comes around. We tried to get reservations about 30 minutes before his normal time, so that we wouldn't miss him.

I wouldn't count on seeing him.We had a 5pm adr in December and didn't get seated in time to see him, we saw him leaving the dining room as we entered:sad1: ..He wasn't our reason for going, but our 5 yr old saw him leaving and got upset.

Thanks for the tips!! :thumbsup2 We have a 12:30 adr and our main reason for eating here is to try to see Remy!! I'm going to see if I can change it.

You may want to try around 1:30-2 if you can wait for a late lunch. We have had ADRs for 2:00pm twice, and were visited by Remy about midway through our entrees each time. It's definitely worth checking out, and the food was great too!
