The Reason We All Play This Game

A collective conscious check... I know why I play the game and will attempt to describe it here. But I wonder why many of us do... what do you get out of VMK?

Me - I like to play VMK because it is a place that is very Disney that I can visit everyday. Since it's opening, my visits to old photo albums and video recordings of past vacations has dropped off a bit (although not by much). I can have my Disney Magic and be there too... at least through a digital bitstream of neato Magic Kingdom looking virtual places, games, and such. And don't worry, oh Lurking Disney Marketeers, it DEFINITELY still makes me want to spend money at the real place.

I like to be silly and interact with every avatar shaped person on my screen that I can. Some warrant some silly caper of my devising just because of a clever signature. Some need help or pose as such, to which I am a hopeless trust of character. I will befriend them and walk them through the maze of Frontierland just to be asked afterwards if I am taken. Laugh it off... it's just a silly (and need I mention, free) game.

It is this outlet of silliness and relative safety that keeps me coming back to VMK. In the real Magic Kingdom, I can also be silly, laugh, and rejoice with my family or friends in the fun and funny adventures that arise there. VMK is like that to me, most of the time. I strive to keep it that way...

I like to get with my Dis friends and my non-Dis friends and be........ downright silly. It's fun. It's an outlet of creativity. It's a great escape from the trials and stresses of everyday life - in short, my every visit to VMK is a virtual little vacation. :)

So there you go. That's me. What about you?

Well, that seems to have taken a lot of thought. My reason for playing is simple: I get bored easily. LoL. I spend my days running three businesses, and it tends to get boring and tiresome, so this is my break from reality. I don't understand why so many people on here spaz out over a bunch of pixels. Yes, infero and the stitch hat and things are nice and great to have if you can get them, but what's the point in getting your back up if you can't? Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the game! :thumbsup2

I play VMK because it gives me my disney fix!
Something has to curve it! haha.
I also enjoy changing my outfits and decorating my rooms.

I play it because now its the only good thing to do, I can chat and I can kick pirate booty in pirates of the caribbean.

The reason has changed over the months, but now it is projects that I enjoy creating and completing and the friendships I have formed (not in that order, btw....). And the laughter, ah, so good.....

I play it just because. Thankfully taking pics in VMK is a lot cheaper than doing it in real life so at least I get my photography fix this way. :goodvibes

Ok, checking in here. I started playing because it was a great way to get a Disney Park fix when I could not get there. But it very quickly turned into meeting some really great friends and hanging out with them.

Then I got into helping the "newbies" just because it was fun.

As I have gotten "deeper" into the game, I find that having fun with friends and helping are a really good reason to stay. Also, to be honest, I have had some bad experiences and lost some valued friends. As Out says, "As The VMK Turns."

I simply cannot say how much I am addicted to this silly kids game. Who knew? :rotfl2:

Whenever I say at closing, "I glove you all!" I really mean it

When I first started playing I love decorating my rooms. Now I play to chat with all the wonderful ppl I have met in the game. I still try to decorate my rooms but would much rather chat LOL

This is my Disney Fix also............I grew up with Disney Studios nearby and Disneyland only an hour or so away, depending on traffic .

I was so used to just being able to go to DLR anytime I wanted , I took it for granted............Hi, my name is alyce and I am a Disneyholic......................did not realize how much I would miss it until I moved away .

Then came the internet to my house ! Woot ! Access to the Magical Place !
Sort of..........then this game .............did not take much to fall off the Disneyholic wagon...............I have been here ever since .

As I have gotten "deeper" into the game, I find that having fun with friends and helping are a really good reason to stay. Also, to be honest, I have had some bad experiences and lost some valued friends. As Out says, "As The VMK Turns."

Sea , this is so true, well said ...................We have become a virtural neighborhood so to speak..........yesterday morning I had morning tea with some girlfirends ! We chatted and then went off to do our daily chores/jobs .
This medium gives me the chance to interact with my grown child 3,000 miles away . Talk about her day , and because of our little characters , maybe feel like we are really sitting or standing right next to each other .

I have been privileged to meet ( and hug ) some of these wonderful VMK people in person.......they are all warm and giving ........everyone of them.........there are still a few I would like to give real life hugs to , but for the time being , VMK style hugs will have to do !

Yes VMK is commercially oriented, yes it is a kids game , yes this is an escape from daily life ...boredom , but for some really big reason ..............we don't care !

Here's to all you wonderful VMK / DIS people !

Thank you for the laughter , joy , friendship ,and even tears !

Fun is good! Friendship is good! And boy, put the two together....... we can continue to enjoy VMK and Dis as the Disney place it was meant to be. Where laughter is the goal, relationships bloom, and community grows and grows. :)

I know.... and it's sad. Bad experiences have happened because even with all the joy and laughter and hope and love we all share with each other, we also have to endure and share in the faults of ourselves, collectively, the human species.

As the VMK turns..... we become stronger through it all as a group of caring like-minded Disneyaholic friends who are determined to not let "drama" be the rule, but rather, an experience to learn from. Being hurt means we have to patch ourselves up............ and it shows us who our real friends are.

And through a kids game, I have made some friendships that I feel will last a lifetime! That is so cool...... like you said, who knew?!

:goodvibes

I'm often scrutinized for my reasons for loving the game so much... But for me, VMK gives us the chance to play Walt Disney himself. With alot of time, great friends, and putting imagineering into overtime, you can virtually build anything in VMK. From awesome lemonade stands, to mock emulations of Disney attractions, to building a Disney park completely, VMK can offer to us the option to live the life of our hero, and to feel just a small (virtual) fraction of this man's satisfaction. That for me is a priceless reason to play.

i play vmk for a couple of reasons :thumbsup2

it makes me remember goin to disney world :rotfl:

it is fun :woohoo:

just because :surfweb:

and it is addicting

that is why i play :cheer2:

To think I joined VMK just to get the glitter name on my sig. I mean it no joke. A lot of you are the reason I keep coming back, even if it is only for an hour or two at night. And laughs, don't get me started on laughs. Sea, need I mention my "other"! rofl rofl rofl. I think some people don't see the reason behind vmk. It isn't about being the richest in pixelated items, but the richest in friends. You all are the reason I keep on coming for more. That, and I am a glutton for punishment.

well, i started playing after picking up flyers in WDW in Sept. to check it out before allowing my kids to play. Who woulda thunk that I would be the most addicted! All four of my kids play . LOL ( i'm a good mom, i help them with quest and give them what they need. ) :rolleyes1 It is alot of fun and i have made so many good friends that i have never even met in person. I like to compete against myself and try to best my personal score in fireworks after getting the extra grand for a 240,000 score. What can i say, it's fun!!!!! :confused3

Wouldn't you think the /real/ reason behind it is to make Disney the richest in cash? XD We're able to hide that little detail though. I pretty much just keep coming back for the virtual friends. If they were to leave I'd probably end up leaving too. Because then there would be no other real reason for me to play.

I Play Because:

1)The #1 Reason I Play VMK Is...........I'M RICH ON VMK!

2)I Like Decorating Rooms

3)Chating With Friends

4)Trading

5)Making New Rooms

6)Making New Friends

7)I Get Bored Very Easily
