There are two kinds of people in the world, the night owls and the early risers. Whenever a traveling company has some of each kind in it, a studio just will not do. I like to get up at 6 AM and read a paper, get coffee and take a walk. My wife likes to sleep in. On the other hand, she enjoys staying up more often than I do.

It is the ability to get the one , two, or three bedroom units cheaper than we could rent them that makes us happy DVC owners.

If you are comparing the cost of DVC ownership with regular hotel rooms, and you are happy to stay in a regular hotel room, I would say don't buy DVC or any other timeshare.

Anyone agree or disagree? :wizard:

Our situation is the same. Dh likes to get up very, very early; I like to sleep in. I like to stay up late, Dh starts nodding off very early. A one bedroom works perfect for us, although I admit we sometimes have to rough it :lmao: in a studio because of points.

in 2005 we stayed at the WL with our ds4 and dd2. I have to read at night in that little bathroom area so the kids wouldn't wake up. I started looking into DVC and love our small contract that gets us a one bedroom ever other year.

Same thing here: I'm an earlier riser (as are my boys) and DH is not!! Gotta love DVC for so many reasons and having that/those separate room(s) is the best! :thumbsup2

Well, for some of us....we may be just the opposite. Per chance the opportunity to go to bed at the sametime, without sharing the same room with the kiddos.;)

I think this is why I was able to talk dh into buying DVC. :lmao:

Another reason to throw into the mix--the typical hotel room is designed for a family of 4 (well, 5, in some of the Disney deluxes, but have you tried that??? I have!). We're 6. Yeah, we can and do book two hotel rooms, but it's clumsy, particularly when you don't have adjoining rooms.

For plenty of storage and easy accomodation of various bed/rise/nap times, you can't beat a 2BR. We love the space--we're not constantly tripping over each other.

Several things FINALLY convinced my DH.

1) My two-trips-a-year habit.:rolleyes1

2) Eating breakfast OUT has NEVER worked. The reason? I'm an early bird (we won't say HOW early)...he stays up late. The kids were always somewhere in between. We have eaten breakfast in the room for over 10 years. The kids are now grown...that leaves an early riser and a late nighter.

3) We're a family of five. We started going to Disney in '97...at CR! Welll....uhhh...that gets expensive! And now we're in the habit.:rolleyes:

4) We just stayed in a 1BR in August at BWV.

Need I say more?:rotfl:

Yeah, I forgot about the ease of breakfast! And we'd been several times on the premium plan (gift from my MIL--I'm too cheap!). Even getting past the $$ savings, just the ease and convenience of letting the kids get themselves a bowl of cereal or a poptart. I made cinnamon rolls one morning, too--we'd consider pancakes as well. And I'm not much of a breakfast food person, so being able to bring back leftovers and eat them for breakfast was a huge plus for me.

We also found it very nice to make a quickie dinner, then head back into the parks. I definitely wouldn't want to be on the hook for several dinners in one trip, but a couple wasn't bad. We also made cookies one day, the kids could have fruit for snacks, etc. It made the occasional purchased treat all the more special.

I agree, and I like to have access to the kitchen to make my own breakfast, coffee, tea or whatever and go out to the porch all by myself when everyone else is asleep!

I like my kids, I really do. But, I actively resent having to pretend to be asleep at 8:45, so a hotel room/studio simply won't do.

Ownership in this household has nothing to do with what time we rise. My reasons:

1) Kitchen/ Kitchenettes;
2) Rooms - love 'em;
3) Resorts - enjoy just hanging out;
4) Price for all of the above.

5) Minor - but I still feel a connection... I grew up as a part of HRRVC... can't stand driving anymore, no place to park, or desire to own a camper. Love Disney... Logical step: Join DVC for a similar feel, albeit MUCH larger & rare we'll encounter the same folk twice... but that's why I have you guys :)

Yup us too:thumbsup2 We are all night owls at WDW due to the time difference so we all go to bed at the same time. Needless to say rope drop is misery.:lmao:

DH is an earlybird, the rest of us are nightowls, so we love DVC! We bought in, though, because we like space to move, washers and dryers, and two bathrooms(we are all women, except DH!) The 6 of us are staying in a GV at Christmas, and would never even consider inviting others, because the GV would seem too small!! :lmao:

Works for us too.
I amthe early riser, I like to get up, get my coffee and read, It is a problem in a single room.
We also love the Villas, the washer and dryer and having the kitchen.
We love it All.

My hubby snores! Love DVC because my daughter and I have a way to escape the insane noise. No escape when you stay in a hotel room.

Five Women!!!:eek:

I get to be the early riser and the night owl, wife loves to be able to go to bed early and sleep in with me playing with our daughter in the other room or going for a walk. DVC makes it a real vacation, no rush (unless you want to) and a great place to stay.

Dh saw the benefits of DVC ownership the very first time we stayed in a two-bedroom. ;)

I'd have to disagree totally, unless you're comparing the cost to Motel 6.
Over the years, staying in a WDW hotel will cost way more than DVC, even with the annual dues.

I'm puzzled by your assertion. DVC is, for us, a much less expensive way of staying at our favorite deluxe Disney resort. Yet you seem to be urging the more expensive route on folks like me. :confused:

How can you say that? I contend that people who buy DVC or any timeshare to always stay in studios are missing the whole point of the timeshare. A timeshare loses something if you are still all sleeping in the same room. If I wanted to do that on the cheap, I'd stay at All Stars or Pop.
