Celebrating the start of Winter with a Melbourne DisMeet
Winter is the coldest season of the year in temperate climates, between autumn and spring. The name comes from an old Germanic word that means time of water and refers to the rain and snow of winter in middle and high latitudes.
It is caused by the axis of the Earth in the respective hemisphere being oriented away from the Sun. Different cultures define different dates as the start of winter, and some use a definition based on weather, but when it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and vice versa. In many regions, winter is associated with snow and freezing temperatures.
In Australia, the official start of winter is 1 June. What better way to celebrate than with a DisMeet?
Who's in?
(And apologies to Fairy Floss - I believe that the timing of this meet may not suit. We can have a special DisMeet when you get back, with your photos!!)
I always learn so much from your posts PIO
