The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

That's the one thing I keep thinking -- not out until 2:30 -- home by 3:00 -- back up by 6:00. :scared1:

But it is Indy 4!

I'll think about it later. ;)

I'm saving it to go see when we get back from WDW. I don't want to wait but maybe it will help my Disney Depression!!

BooHoo! I can't believe I missed Star Wars M&Ms!! Where did you find the Indiana Jones ones? (Yeah, Lynn, that's gonna help the diet.....)

That's a good idea to combat Disney Depression!!! I don't have that kind of patience though! :rotfl:

I found the Indiana Jones M&Ms at Ingles, one of our grocery stores, when I went to pick up orange juice the other day. I haven't seen them at Wal-mart (my usual hangout) yet, but I am hoping they get them soon!

Shucks! No Ingles here! I'm keeping my eyes open at Bilo!! (No, Lynn, you really shouldn't......):rotfl:

I am sure they'll be everywhere soon! :lovestruc

If you're ever at DL, I'm mere minutes away......:thumbsup2

How awesome would that be????

I started working on DH tonight -- about how it would be the coolest thing EVER if Chelsea could spend one birthday at DL. I haven't been since I was about five and would like to go again. I even priced packages last night with DL/DCA tickets and the Disneyland Hotel. My obsessive planning knows no limits!

What does airfare run you coast to coast?

Airfare high side would be 325-350. Sale price 205-225. Those days may be gone. Delta's hub is Atlanta so you may be in luck with ATL to LAX direct flights.....

I just checked Travelocity and Delta

Delta non stop is 392

other airlines 1 stop is 302.

That's not too bad until I multiply it by 4! :scared1:

Time to start saving change...:rotfl2:

I really want to take the kids out to CA -- I think they would have an absolute blast!

That's the nice thing about being near Atlanta -- we can get direct flights to just about everywhere.

Where are stops? Did you happen to notice?

See, now I really want to go -- maybe Chelsea would like to be in DL on July 17th, 2010 to celebrate her 13th and Disney's 55th (do they do anything in the off years to celebrate its opening)? That would give me two years to save...

I am writhing in embarassment over what could be the social gaffe of the season with a parent of one of Connor's friends. Really. It was that bad. I am blushing with mortification. I can't even go into details right now. I don't know why I am allowed to even interact with people sometimes.

I am going to try to forget by remembering where I was a week ago...

THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!!

When I last left you, we were hanging out by the pool and enjoying the warm Florida sunshine. Charles found he couldn't sleep so he came down to the pool after awhile. Since he was the gem who pushed us to go on this quick trip, I made him sit down with the Magic Kingdom and plot which rides were musts for him. His list:

Astro-orbiter
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyear
Big Thunder
Splash Mountain
The Barnstormer (:confused3 -- it doesn't matter how big or small, if it's a roller coaster, he wants to ride it)

Before we knew it, it was time to get ready to leave.

Here are the kids waiting for the bus at CSR:

Connor was finally wearing his other glasses that didn't sit crooked on his face.

Chelsea poses:

As we entered the Magic Kingdom a little after 4:00, the wind was blowing pretty hard (foreshadowing!!!). They had put down a red carpet through the tunnel! Wow! :lovestruc

It's the Castle!

We headed straight for the Times Board to see how things were looking. Barnstormer had the shortest wait (almost non-existent) so we headed there. Now, here is one of my deep, dark secrets. I HATE roller coasters. Really hate them! Barnstormer included. Connor held my hand through the line, and I could feel myself growing more and more anxious. I kept looking at all these 3 and 4-year olds in line and thought, "If they can do it, I can do it." I did it. I held on so tight to the metal of the car that I made my thumb bleed. One down, two to go (Splash doesn't bother me and I won't ride Astro).

I figured it was my turn next so we headed over towards the Haunted Mansion. No wait! This is one of my favorite rides and I love the enhancements!

Here are the kids in front of the hearse:

Here are the kids in front of the hearse after Connor said, "Chelsea, look like we really need to be picked up by the hearse!"

Connor, being my Connor, said to me as we were walking away, "What did Master Gracey mean by making final arrangements"? I explained both the intended and literal meanings. Connor thought for a minute and said, "You know I might make final arrangements to go live at the Haunted Mansion when I am a ghost. That would be pretty fun." :sad2: and :rotfl2:! Chelsea, of course, rolled her eyes at her brother.

It was just 5:00 at this point. On to Big Thunder Mountain! Again, a roller coaster. The line was constantly moving which was a plus.

I have another confession. I have ridden this ride since it first opened. In fact, I think I rode it for the first time at Disneyland. I don't know what happens on this ride. I read all sorts of descriptions, but I have kept my eyes closed since the early 80's. I have no idea what this ride entails visually. I am just happy I live through it.

After Big Thunder, it started sprinkling. We headed for Splash Mountain. It had a 100-minute wait!!! :scared1: We decided to go to dinner instead. Pecos Bill's! Yee-haw!!!

NEXT: Let's Get This Party Started!!!

C'mon now. I SURE I've done something more embarrassing. As you told me about my exam, it's probably not as bad as you think.

She's so pretty! I've always wanted freckles.

And what a handsome little man.

I didn't notice, sorry.

They do ceremonies etc, but nothing spectacular.

Believe me DL's 55th will be big and DCA's complete remodel will be nearly done...

:lmao:

I'm sure it wasn't that bad. The other parent probably isn't even thinking about it. Don't worry :)

Love the pics of your kids, especially the one in front of the hearse. The Haunted Mansion is one of my favs too. My nephew loves it. He kepts saying "Let's go back to the Smooky House" He can't say spooky :rotfl:

I'm also with you with rollercoasters. I am not a fan. I thought I was the only one sweating before Barnstormer. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Hmm will there be food porn from Pecos Bill???

I can tell u really want to tell us. so spill it.

great update and pics.

u held on so tight and bled on Barnstormer. :rotfl2:

Before I spill the beans on this one, let me just say that my mother did raise me not to assume that people are invited to the same parties.

Okay, so here it is -- it really is mortifying because underlying it all I am afraid there is a little 8-year-old across town upset right now.

Connor has two little best friends. You know that Mastercard commercial with the three little boys that show up at school and dance a goofy little dance? Well, that's Connor and his friends -- complete with the silly dancing.

One (Friend #1) he has been friends with since practically birth when his mom and I started working together. The other (Friend #2) he has been friends with since he started school. They are all in the same class at school.

Anyway, Friend #2 is having his birthday party Saturday night. Friend #1's mom called tonight to cement some plans we had made for Saturday with the boys. So, here I am chatting away merrily on the phone and say, "You know Friend #2's party is Saturday night." The mom says, "Oh, I don't think Friend #1 got an invitation." Then, she asks her son if he got an invitation -- he says no!!! I still don't think anything about it because they are all so close and Friend #1 is a little scatter-brained.

We finish chatting and I get off the phone. I ask Connor about Friend #1 getting invited to the party. He tells me, "No, because Friend #2 is finding him annoying these days!" :scared1: Okay, totally did not know that Connor was the gel holding that trio together!

I feel really small right now. I just hope that when Friend #1's mom calls Friend #2's mom about the other plans for Saturday that suddenly an invite will materialize! Because I would feel really, really, really bad that I was the one that caused Friend #1 to realize he was left out. There is nothing worse than knowing you have been left out of something when you are a kid. :sad1:

So, that's why I am going to go make a drink. I have stewed about this all night. I should NEVER have said anything. I KNOW better. It just never occurred to me that would happen since those three are inseparable! I know Friend #1's mom will be okay and not blame me for opening my big mouth -- she is really level-headed, but what bothers me is poor Friend #1.

You didn't do anything wrong. There was no way of you knowing that someone was being excluded. I hope Friend #1 gets an invite. It's terrible to be left out. I'm glad Connor is staying neutral. Smart boy!
