The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Yeah!!! a mini TR with TL and Kona...both of which are in my plans for October...how lucky am I?? Well on second thought not so lucky because I didn't get to go...:rotfl:

Okay, CP, I am soooooo happy to have been of service!!!! I have never been on a list of people to BLAME for booking a trip to Disney. I think this is the most flattered I have ever been, ever:blush: . I was reading your first few links from page 1 (and want to get through them all but it may take a month!!) and me and you, we sound VERY much alike. Except the mom and the DH's love of soccer. My mom wasn't obsessed with WDW, but she DID start my obsession with it. My DH sounds like yours except he likes NASCAR and football.

You could be my twin and our DD10's sound VERY much alike also, except for the soccer thing too!!! AG, Disney, etc... DD8 also loves Disney and AG too. I have 2 partners in crime.

Oh, and I have a Dodge Grand Caravan too, but not the new hyped up, "kids eating ice cream at the table " sort-although my kids THINK we should get that one. Mine is a 2001 silver sport edition.:drive: We have brought it to WDW twice (2008, 2005)as the first time-someone named Pinkie Mae ran into me the WEEK before our 2003 trip.

I wanna go back In September but don't think my checkbook will say yes!! It is saying, "you have the DCL trip to pay for NEXT DECEMBER:rolleyes: " and i say, "but we can go for about $1100!! if free dining is offered!!" and it says, "hold out for the DCL trip, Lori, hold out. It is okay, you will make it 20 months w/out doing Disney." Bummer. Why does the checkbook have to win? :sad2:

Owell, I guess i should just feel blessed to have gone the times we have:love: .

Glad i could be of service to you!! Have fun!!

Lori

Really, your pics and TR were so great, I just had to go! :goodvibes

That's too funny about all the things we and our girls have in common!

I know what you mean about the checkbook! We want to do a DCL cruise in November of 2009 which may mean no summer trip in 2009 :(. I may have to do some Fuzzy Disney Math to fit them both in!

How did I miss that you have a bonus trip?? where have I been??? I'm so excited for you. Have a great time!

It was a fast trip -- we decided to go Thursday and left on Monday!

I think I missed seeing you off so I hope u all have a magical time.

Thank you! We did have a magical time!

Ok, so I think I led you wrong. I told you not to worry about the weather.
Whoops! :scared:
It's been absolutely POURING all morning! In fact, they are holding the bells this morning since the weather is so horrid. (:woohoo: more planning for me!)
I can only hope you're dry in Disney, and the Disney magic also applies to the weather!

Actually, we were very lucky with weather -- sunny and in the 80's the whole time except for some of the P&PP! :thumbsup2

Can I be the first??!!!

 Welcome Home!!!

We know you didn't want to come back, only two more months to go!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes We didn't want to leave -- that's for sure! Thank goodness we are only a couple of months out because I would have a BAD case of Disney Blues otherwise -- we left sunny and in the 80's to come home to rainy, windy, and in the 50's! Brrrrr!

You can be first, but I totally want to be second! Welcome back!!!

:flower3:

Thanks -- going was definitely worth it!

:surfweb: Can't wait!

:yay: WELCOME HOME! Can't wait to hear about the trip! :goodvibes

Welcome home!!! I can't wait to see pictures and here all about your trip,

I crashed on the couch at 8:00 and just now woke up! I am planning on getting pictures developed today and starting my TR tonight! :goodvibes

Yeah!!! a mini TR with TL and Kona...both of which are in my plans for October...how lucky am I?? Well on second thought not so lucky because I didn't get to go...:rotfl:

:rotfl2: Both were great!

Did you have a Lapu Lapu at Kona?

I wish! Alas, at 10:30 in the morning, I contented myself with Kona coffee. Yum!

That would be one tasty a breakfast ;)

If I had that with my tonga toast, I'd be one happer park goer :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: That's for sure!

Happy to hear you trip went well.

Welcome Back!!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I can't wait to hear about P&P!!! So glad you had a good time.

It was fabulous! Wish we lived closer to WDW! That seven-hour drive home was brutal!

You're getting so close!! :)

I totally agree about Walmart and Target. You go there and pick things up because they're so cheap, but when you check out you realize that lots of cheap things add up!

I am so excited for your upcoming trip. I could really use an escape to Disney right now ;)

*Edited*

Oops! Can you tell how out of the loop I am?! You've already been and come back! :rotfl: Can't wait to hear all about it.

Welcome home...sort of......never fun to be home from WDW

Did Typhoon Lagoon work out? I hope I didn't steer you wrong in any way.

That's okay -- the trip before the trip is a bit hard to keep track of!

It was fun -- I am going to try and start posting about it tonight.

Thanks! No, it's not fun to be back, but my new mantra is, "8 and a half weeks. 8 and a half weeks." Thank goodness June is right around the corner.

Did Typhoon Lagoon work out? I hope I didn't steer you wrong in any way.

Your advice was spot-on! :thumbsup2 Our day there was perfect!

I think I am finally ready to tackle my TR in the middle of my PTR. Confusing, isn’t it?

I got my pictures developed today, so while I am a bit daunted by this whole thing (I am so worried that I am going to forget something amusing or important) I am going to start.

Monday: March 31, Morning and Early Afternoon

After staying up until 12:30 DISing and barely able to contain my excitement, I crawled into bed. My alarm was set for 5:00 since I was hoping to have us all out of the house and on the road by seven.

4:14 am: Charles shakes me awake, “If we leave by six maybe we can get through Atlanta traffic faster.” Need I say it? This is the man who professes to only go to Disney…Once again, I suspect differently. I am not feeling the Disney Spirit at 4:14, but since there is coffee made and waiting, I get up.

5:00 am: Taking a cue from StageMomx3’s sons, I wake Chelsea up by bouncing on her bed, “It’s a Disney Day! It’s a Disney Day!” :woohoo: Chelsea, in turn, wakes up Connor the same way.

6:15 am: We pull out of the driveway. WE ARE ON OUR WAY!!! :cheer2:

6:35 am: Come to a grinding halt 17 miles down the road. We have hit rush hour. Disney Spirit decides not to wait and flies on ahead. :sad2:

7:30 am: I think it was about then – who really knows??? Anyway, we are through Atlanta and finally manage to send the speedometer past 60. Disney Spirit rejoins us on the southside of the ATL. :tinker:

7:30 – 11:30ish: The long trek through Georgia…Thank goodness for the DVD player and Nintendo DSs – we barely hear a peep from the kids – just the crunching of the occasional Ritz Bit. Also, thank goodness for Sirius Satellite radio where Charles and I relive our youth singing to 80’s music, Hair Nation (yes, Charles was that kind of boy), and 90’s Alternative (NIN, Beastie Boys, and Nirvana)!

11:30: Florida! We’re in Florida! From here it is an easy drive! We celebrate by not only singing, but also dancing in the car! Do you know that Fall Out Boy has a new version of Beat It??? I was very excited about that! Chelsea cringes in the backseat from embarrassment.

1:30: The turnpike! La, la, la!

2:15: Western Way! I love this new access road – it eliminates having to tackle I-4 and you can see Space Mountain and the Contemporary on the left. As we drive onto Disney property, my favorite sign in the whole world welcomes us to Walt Disney World. Wild cheering from all erupts. I tear up and get mascara in my eye. It burns! It burns! Driving was slightly hazardous for a moment. :scared1: Charles just laughs at me.

2:30ish: Turn into Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! :cheer2:

NEXT: Would we get a room in the Cabanas section or would we be far, far, far away from everything?

See, I knew I would forget something as soon as I started...

When we left Atlanta it was in the 40s, windy, and cloudy. We were dressed in jeans and sweatshirts, and definitely looking forward to warmer weather 490 miles to the south. 81 was listed as the high in Orlando. Which also begs the question: Why does weather.com not list Walt Disney World as a separate entity??? After all, it is 47 square miles! Surely it deserves its own listing!

On the speedometer of the van it tells the outside temperature. I kid you not, Charles was asking every hour what the temperature was. It went something like this:

Charles: And now?
Me: 51

An hour later:

Charles: And now?
Me: 55

An hour later:

Charles: And now?
Me: 57

This went on all the way down 75. We were getting kind of worried as we neared the Florida border since it was still hovering in the 50s.

Have no fear though, after another three hours, we had reached our goal temperature of 81 and Charles stopped asking somewhere on the turnpike! :thumbsup2

I ask you: Who was the biggest kid in the car on Monday??? ;)

Great update :thumbsup2

I am so jealous you live so close.

:lmao: So funny that Chelsea cringed in embarassment. I remember doing that at her age when my parents played music from when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

It's becoming quite dangerous! ;)

My parents were a constant embarassment to me during my pre-teen/teen years! I guess she should get used to it. :rotfl2:

What cracked us up the most was the fact that she thought it was a new song since Fall Out Boy is a current band. When we explained how it had been around since the 80's (by Michael Jackson, no less) and then proceeded to sing it word for word, she died. I know she was thankful for tinted windows at that point. :rotfl:
