The problem with Steak

The Boathouse has good steak and also we really like the steak at Grand Floridian Cafe. In fact, it has outperformed Narcoossee's for us in recent years (which is why I was happy to see Narcoossee's going into refurb -- hopefully it can return to past quality).

I also got a shockingly good steak at Big River Grille. I wasn't a huge fan of the restaurant after previous visits, but we stopped in on New Year's Eve, ate outside with no wait, and I had the most surprisingly delicious ribeye.

I don't doubt your meal was good but they are not known for being great. No wait on NYE is saying something.

I wouldn't go back and I don't really complain about Disney food except for coddled eggs. Also it is really not in the same category as the many other restaurants the OP is considering. This alone could lead to unmet expectations.

For non-signature restaurants, Mama Melrose has a very good steak and so does Skipper Canteen.

Is that the biggies- yachts, Shula, steakhouse 71 really only have steak on their dinner menus. (Narcoossees is closed on our trip)
What other restaurants that are not the biggies have a really good steak but also something for the non steak lover

The problem with steak restaurants is that they mostly serve steak?

Maybe it depends on where you live but steakhouses around here tend to still have a variety from chicken to seafood to pasta, etc. Even high end ones will still have some options.

Seafood places around me tend to be a tad less on variety but often have salads (usually can add chicken, steak or shrimp) or a chicken entree or so (steak as well ironically depending on the restaurant).

Sullivan's (a chain) for example the one in my area has steak for $47-50 and yet also has apps, seafood and chicken. 801 Chophouse (a high end place with 2 locations here) with steak $60-150 (12oz filet mignon is $73) also has seafood, chicken, pork and even lamb. And so on.

I can understand the OP's question but maybe that's just because of how my area is like.

Same for me with Grand Floridian Cafe- I don't know why, but I kind of had low expectations for their steak, but it was one of the best steaks I had in recent memory. I totally thought it was a fluke or something! This was pre-Covid though, so I'm not sure if its still the case.

I wouldn't have even thought of that place for steak. We went there in 2017 and the mushroom pizza (which was sooo good IMO) isn't on the menu anymore so I sorta just put it off my mind but I'm looking again at the menu and that steak on the menu sounds good.

Pairs very nicely with the mac. We ate there several years ago as Mama Melrose was the only TS restaurant we hadn't tried at HS. We were pleasantly surprised and everything we had was quite good.
