The Prisoner of Azkaban RP

OOC: Guess who just realized that the McKinnons are actually referenced in the books? I feel clueless!

Perry (or anyone, really) I have pregunta número dos: how do you go about writing something from the perspective of a minor character from the books, since they've been developed, but not blatantly?

Perry (or anyone, really) I have pregunta número dos: how do you go about writing something from the perspective of a minor character from the books, since they've been developed, but not blatantly?

OOC: How did you think I knew so much about Marlene McKinnon to make Adriana? They mention her in 1 and 5.

Let's look at, say, Susan Bones for an example. You take what you know and you build the character adding in some things that make sense to you. We know Susan Bones is a Hufflepuff, and her best friend is Hannah Abbott also of Hufflepuff. Since Hannah marries Neville in canon, we can infer that Susan and Neville were also good friends. Susan's father was Edgar Bones, and her aunt is Amelia Bones head of the DMLE, and we know she lives with her aunt since Edgar, his wife, and any siblings Susan might have had were killed by Death Eaters, Susan was the only survivor. If I remember correctly Susan joins the DA.

With this and the other information from the books, we can establish Susan as a character. To me, she would seem like a open, friendly, helpful kind of character, one who understands trouble and loss and would be willing to sit and listen to others work out their problems.

OOC: In 1 they're mentioned when Hagrid is telling Harry about Voldemort, how he wiped out families like the Prewitts, the Boneses and the McKinnons

In 5 when they bring out the picture they talk about how many Order members died, including Marlene McKinnon

OOC: thanks for that, it really helps

OOC: And 7. Actually, I was thinking this morning, and it was bugging me because there is this phrase in it that I could have sworn was talking about them. Finally I broke and sure enough, it was.

"Wormy was here last weekend, I thought he seemed down, but that was probably the news about the McKinnons; I cried all evening when I heard. (DH180).

OOC: You're welcome, happy to help.

That's actually really awesome - not that Lily cried all night, but the context of it when you apply it to Adriana.

Suddenly, not only could Lily be crying because her friend is dead, but because she's writing this to Marlene's ex-fiance, ex only because she's dead, and the (adoptive) mother of their child, Adriana, who, at best, has the future of growing up with only a father.

OOC: That only makes it about, oh, ten times more depressing. Possibly 100.

Actually, it gets more awesome, but I'll tell you that later.

Amelia: After she finished reading, she headed off to the library, completely intent on finding those names for Adriana.

OOC: Is it generally known by the students that Snape was/is a death eater?

Hermione: She left the great hall, her nose still stuck in a book.

Fred and George: They headed out, each ruffling Adriana's hair before leaving.

Adriana: She watched them go.

Mikhailya and Hamilton: They walked with the Scamanders.

Brendan and Zara: They met briefly with the other prefects before leaving. It looked like they had after hours patrol duty.

Kathleen: She headed back to the tower.

Rose: As it grew dark she headed back in and went up to her dorm.

Amelia: She went to the Ravenclaw common room.

Esmire and Pierson: They walked with Hamilton and Mikhayla.

Quote of the day:
"Harry nodded. He somehow could not find the words to tell them what it meant to him, to see them all ranged there, on his side. Instead he smiled, raised a hand in farewell, turned around, as led the way out of the station toward the sunlit street, with Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley hurrying along in his wake (OP870)."

For some reason I've always loved this.
