I left work early today to go see "The Princess and the Frog". Disney magic at its best! We all loved it. When we were walking out my daughter asked if we could see it again! It is a fun, bright romp through the bayou.

I should mention that the bad guy uses voo-doo magic and it could be pretty intense for really young kids. There were dark shadows chasing Tiana and her prince (frog). Our daughters are 10 and 8 and they were not scared, they just loved it.

Did anyone else get to see it yet?

Not sure when I'll get a chance to see it, but I can't wait!

After seeing Tiana's Showboat Jubilee at Disneyland today, I really need to see the show. I have been singing "going down to the bayou" all night long.

We haven't seen it yet. We were hosting a HoliDAZE party at our house last night, and today we're busy packing. I guess we'll have to settle for seeing the Princess and the Frog sometime next week on the Disney Wonder!

Excuse my ignorance as i have not seen this movie but what has this to do with Gay & Lesbian,, maybe u posted in wrong forum , Confused!

Not at all. This forum is for gay and lesbian Disney fans (and their "straight but not narrow" friends) to discuss all things Disney.

So, why not post here about a new Disney feature film. It may not be about GLBT characters or themes, but certainly there are themes of overcoming adversity that we as the GLBT community can relate to in a specific way.

::yes::

I'm extremely jealous of Kari. She got to see and got paid for it too....

Thursday night she came home, and told me the Area Manager's secretary Eva asked her what time she was working friday. (Eva has like all the secret power in the manager's trailor)
Kari: ummm... 9 till like 8 i think... am I in trouble?
Eva: no
Kari: am I getting a reprimand?
Eva: no
Kari: do I have to fill out witness statements?
Eva: no
Kari: is some one getting in trouble?
Eva: no
Kari: am I getting fired?
Eva: no

Kari told me this, and I was like, it's probably something good. Don't worry, you haven't done anything stupid, and eva said no one was getting in trouble.

Friday morning, she texts me there's a 3 hr manager's meeting on her schedule for the day. So she's all flipping out. She got called back to the manager's trailor, to tell her she won 1 of 3 best cast member's in frontierland. So they all got a nice little outing to DTD AMC theater to watch the princess and the frog. (her favorite part was getting to wear her favorite manager's jacket... the one every one knows she has a crush on).

It was the one movie we were planning on seeing together in the theater. Some one gave me two regal tickets, so I was going to use those to see this with her. And then it gets all messed up because she got to see it first. We rarely see movies in a theater, so it's like months in advance planning when we do. The last one was Harry Potter.

We saw it today. Our daughter (almost 5 - grrr - goes too fast) LOVED it. So did her two dads. It was a total throw-back to old school Disney (Aladdin, Mermaid, B&B).

Songs were great, loved the theme, and the villain wasn't that bad (Wally would probably have wanted him to be a little naughtier - hehe).

GO SEE IT!

Gays and Lesbians go to the movies too! :thumbsup2

This makes no sense,, you or whoever posting in this forum on non GLBT specific issues are intentionally segregating (discriminating) against yourselves, I don’t see why this cant be discussed in the normal forum,, being a hetro male i cant see why you would do this unless you feel you think different from me or this is some sort of dating forum,,

I don’t know, you tell me!

I hope you appreciate my thoughts, maybe im ignorant but the title of the forum is Gay & Lesbian @ Disney, which sounds to me like specific issues relating to gay days or the like, not general chit chat between G&Ls,

It just looks like you are trying to point out your differant in some way were as all i hear normally is how equal you want to be :s

This is not a place where we feel the need to discuss ONLY GLBT issues and nothing else. This is not a dating place. Presumptuous to think so. This is a place where GLBT people have the freedom to come together, talk about whatEVER they want to without any harassment from anyone. We talk about Disney, favorite movies/tv shows, about our likes and dislikes.

What we don't normally get here are people coming over here and getting onto us for the topics we're posting in our own forum. We welcome anyone here in the GLBT forum (gay, straight, questioning, friends of gays, parents of gays, etc), but they respect us and don't try to dictate what we talk about and where.

I cant believe what I’m reading here,, the whole point of online forums is no one knows what sexuality you are & to be honest, what difference does it make,, you are affectively creating or asking folk to discriminate at you for segregating yourself from the rest of the forum by stating you have the freedom to come together,, are you some sort of other species,, I don’t get it,, its like the "black police officers association", blatantly saying your different from the "Norm",, its not a "were different & proud" but more like "don’t look at me that way",, cant you see that,, your argument is not defensive but more offensive,,

There are plenty of forums within these boards for TV, movie & believe it or not Disney,,

You have just totally contradicted yourself about the "harassment from anyone" argument as you say G&Ls can come together,, tell me,, what can you discuss here that has no relevance to straights (as you put it),, if you cant see that you are small minded,,

I don’t know were your from but since most of these boards are peeps from the US i can tell you that here in the UK G&Ls or from what I have seen don’t feel the need to be so secluded from society,,

To end my whole point was I clicked on new posts,, seen the princess & the frog in the G&L forum & was intrigued what G&L type of topic the film was expressing,,
I mean I’m sure in your community you develop friends with who you enjoy speaking with but is this whole message boards not good enough to discuss this topic with other than saying “we don’t mind if straights come in here”,, eee HELLO,, that’s how discrimination started, with people pre empting what others may think or say,,

On a similar story I was on a flight were behind me 4 coloured ladies were sat,, now I have no problem with anyone, race, creed or religion we are all human but when the flight landed & most of us were standing waiting to depart one of the younger (28ish) ladies spoke at the top of her voice to another passenger (male, white 50s) DO NOT LOOK DOWN ON MY MOTHER, DO YOU THINK SHE IS BENEATH YOU,, well, I felt so embarrassed for all those people because yes,, the older lady was sat down & the fellow sat standing, so if he looked at her he would be looking down on here but not in the way the young lady was getting at & this type of behaviour is were racism has stemmed from,, so like your we community here, from an outsiders view you are indeed asking to be judged by your own behaviour,,

Or am I not seeing the whole picture here,, you say "our or your forum" maybe because im british i dont get it,, is there an ethnic minority forum too,, i dont think this page was designed for how your describing it or using it for that matter,,

Answer this then: What makes you different from me?

Looking at your profile it does not scream gay to me, not even the pictures, is that your twin brother,, looks quite alike so why do you feel you have to point out your different,, although your not different, your a Disney fan (whole point of site) like me,,

This for me is deeply sad,, you think people will have a problem with you so you go immediately on the defensive,, cant you see that?

Wow! Really????

I've NEVER considered that online forums were about hiding my sexuality. If I wanted to do that, I could do it everywhere, not just online.

If anything, I would argue that for many an online forum is a SAFE place to test the waters and see how people will react to their sexuality before they branch out and talk to the people they see everyday.

:scared1: Well, I can't speak for Mr. Z., but, combating attacks like this one are the reason I think it's important that we have a safe place and that we point out our differences. How often to opposite-sex couples get told their spouse looks like their twin? Can you imagine how invisible that would make you feel?

Honestly, I think that two sets of GLBT parents discussing the joy they felt in taking their children to a Disney show is a perfect use of a forum intended for GLBT folks and their friends and families to discuss all things Disney related. It's a Disney show and they are GLBT families. How could it possibly not fit?

(P.S. I'm not in the US either and I was in the UK this summer where it was not my experience that things were as open and comfortable as you are claiming.)

I"m honestly at a loss for words. I am who I am, and I don't have to explain my reasons to anyone, nor to I have to make excuses for myself.

I don't get my panties in a bunch over what other people are doing unless they are causing harm to someone. Clearly you don't share that philosophy.

Alrighty then.... lets move back to the topic....

"going down the bayou, taking you all the way..."

Just came back from seeing this movie and it was great!!! I was worried 'cause I am not a Randy Newman fan but he did a great job on the music. Loved the Mama Odie song!!! Tiana is now my second fav princess right behind Ariel :)
