Actually, this thread is going to riotously funny to read after we finally find out. Half will be declaring it to be the worst decision ever, the other half loving it. Half will declare that they will never add points and others will be chomping at the bit to hand over their money. Then it will open and everyone will probably end up loving it.
Then a new thread will start because Disney announces yet another new DVC (Reflections???) and we will argue about how it will be priced. 😂
But it gives us all something to chat about over morning coffee. :thumbsup2

Do the teens report a difference between the “real” bed and the Murphy when sleeping? I know there’s a world of difference between real bed and foldout couch, of course, but haven’t heard complaints about the Murphy beds.
Murphy's I've slept in at WDW are DIVINE! No difference in comfort from beds. And...So much easier & more comfortable than the fold out sofa mattresses. PVB & SSR.

Never had an issue w/ the Murphy Beds. They're pretty comfy. And waaaaay better than a sofabed that's for sure. I personally would love a King bed though as a room type one of these days!

The girls and I don't mind the Murphy bed; absolutely an upgrade over the pull-outs. But my taller teen boys and husband are a no go on them - which is why I'd love to see them expand the "resort" studio two beds in the new tower.

Out of curiosity, what don't they like about them? They are the exact same size mattresses as the other queen beds.

Frame? Thinner mattress? Lack of foot support? If you're taller or larger, I could see the issue. They're still a major step up from the sofa beds.

Better enjoy the two actual queen beds at GFV's Big Pine Key and OKW because we probably won't get anymore due to room sizes. I believe the rooms at BPK are around 440 sq feet, among the largest on the property.

What's the average DVC studio? Around ~360?

Edit: Yep, removing BPK and PVB—it's an average of 360 sq feet at World anyway.

On the other hand, many of us find the fact that you can't move the bed out of the way at BPK or OKW a detriment to staying in those accommodations. We really like having at least a little bit of living space...

Good thing you have the other 82%+ of DVC studios at World that are in the configuration you prefer.

It's nice to have choices.

I do agree the option would be nice! Especially if we need two beds anyway.

You're still losing me on the "taller" aspect. It's the same size mattress. No narrower, and no shorter. Hotel beds use a spring mattress over a solid frame. The Murphy beds use a memory foam mattress over a solid frame. I can definitely see the difference between a memory foam and a spring mattress, support-wise, but that's the only difference. Foot support?

It's not the only difference. Look at the frame. The regular bed has a solid platform that runs at least 1/2 of the length of the bed and four solid feet. It has a more supportive feel than the Murphy bed and a much thicker mattress.

One can understand why some people may find it more comfortable than a Murphy bed––especially if you're tall or larger.

Some people will care. Some people won't. It's a step up from the sofa bed, but I wouldn't consider them equal.

The Murphy bed is a huge step up from the sofa beds.
But there are still very noticeable differences for "Taller" people when compared to the regular queen beds.

I would not consider myself very tall or large (6'1"- 190 lbs.), but I do have a very different experience when using the murphy beds.

First is the thickness of the mattress.
The murphy mattress is a good bit thinner, and at my weight, I do feel a lack of support when compared to the normal queen mattress.
I understand the mattress thickness is limited by the folding mechanism, so nothing can be done about that.

Second is the bed movement.
Once again, the mechanics of the folding system dictates the limits of available support when folded down.
While these murphy beds are well made and strong, there will always be some extra movement every time you sit or move on the bed, as opposed to a fixed bed frame/platform.
These movements become much more noticeable as your weight increases. (just physics)

Third is the height of the top of the mattress from the floor.
This is where being taller really plays a part.
If you compare the heights in the pictures above, you will see that the murphy bed is substantially lower to the floor than the fixed bed.
This makes for a huge difference in comfort when sitting on the bed, or getting in or out of bed, for those of us with longer legs.
Have you ever tried to sit in an adjustable height chair (at work, maybe) when the previous person had lowered it way too low?
That's how it can feel.
Especially in the morning when you swing your feet out and they hit the floor with a thud, way sooner than you expected.
Not the best way to start the day.

I know that these are small differences, but they add up and can become very noticeable.
And once again, these murphy beds are WAY BETTER than the sofa beds.

I, for one, prefer the murphy bed room layout for its options and flexibility.
I look forward to their continued use, and hopefully improvements, over the coming years.
