Some don’t believe they should have made the categories at SSR…but, since there was no designation from the start, I think it made it easier to do so…I’ll see what I can find in terms of the POS regarding views and if they can amend and add a third one.

This is another reason why making it new could help them…they can simply do what they want in how to set the points without having to tie in directly to PVB.
Very interested to hear what you find!

Actually, this thread is going to riotously funny to read after we finally find out. Half will be declaring it to be the worst decision ever, the other half loving it. Half will declare that they will never add points and others will be chomping at the bit to hand over their money. Then it will open and everyone will probably end up loving it.
Then a new thread will start because Disney announces yet another new DVC (Reflections???) and we will argue about how it will be priced. 😂

And then there’s me where there’s pros for both.. same association = I get to buy resale and save money, new association = I buy direct and get to have a large pool of direct points to stay whereever I want and have resale PVB owners locked out so..

I do not think they are updating the preview center as it seems that they run tours at all the resorts now anyway and I have seen them bring people right to both RIV and VGF to see the models set up at those locations.

It would be hilarious if they updated the preview center with the layout of the upcoming Cabins at Fort Wilderness.
Or maybe they will just "park" one right outside of the preview center.

Humor aside, I agree that they will not go to the expense of updating the preview center.
The only way they might would be if they are going to have a new room type, and want to show it off.
Even then, it would have to be something that they plan on promoting heavily, possibly at future resorts as well.
Otherwise they would not waste their time and money on it.

I still love the idea of all the studios (other than duo) being a "resort" type studio like VGF with two beds. It would make all the lock-offs similar to a true two bedroom.

Many people who stay in studios like having a couch facing the TV when no one is actually sleeping in that second bed. IMHO the couch/Murphy bed combination fills that desire better than two regular beds, while still providing two beds when needed for sleeping.

I would have thought the same thing but I've seen different groups of people say they love the two beds - small families with one child, groups of young adults sharing a studio. I think it's more popular than would seem for DVC.

Also, we're two bedroom people with a family of 6 - so from a lock-off perspective it's defiantly more desirable to us to have real beds for the teenagers than a pull down. We try to book dedicated two bedrooms but some resorts there's no option (BWV, Vero.)

Do the teens report a difference between the “real” bed and the Murphy when sleeping? I know there’s a world of difference between real bed and foldout couch, of course, but haven’t heard complaints about the Murphy beds.

My question is if Poly2 is the same association does it put downward pressure on BLT resale points?

We would hate this. We usually just travel with two of us and for us, the ability to have the bed and couch is what makes the Studio "livable" for the week. We consider the hotel rooms that they added to the VGF association a big downgrade over the Deluxe Studios with the split bath and kitchenette setup.

What we'd really like in a studio is to put in a King bed...

I think so. Demand on BLT will soften. And buyers comparing options might feel BLT needs to be a great deal to give up home resort to get into the new Poly tower.

Its not so much a complaint as a hassle for them. The boys are tall and just fit better on a real bed - and the girls usually don't bother and crash on the couch as is. When at Vero, the fold out couch is out the whole time which is annoying.

Since they have an abundance of the traditional couch/living space options in Poly1 - it'd be a way to offer something else in the new tower and completely new as a lock-off.

I can tell you from an adult perspective, the Murphy beds are not as comfortable as a regular bed. However, they are a step up from the sofa bed.

I wouldn't mind seeing DVC bring that room option to more resorts in the future.

This is very interesting. When Pop installed the Murphy beds starting in 2018, multiple people posted measurements etc. confirming that it was the same mattress on the Murphy as on the regular bed. Is that not the same for the DVC Murphy beds in the studios? And I think that in resorts that have been refurbished, like SSR, the regular beds are now on a platform as opposed to a box spring, which is basically what the Murphy beds are (platform beds), so I thought they’d feel the same.

Need someone who’s in a refurbished studio at Poly, SSR, or VGF or a RIV studio to compare the stats on those mattresses!

It may be the same brand, but the Murphy beds are not the same as the queen beds. They are much thinner and softer/flexible so they can fold up.

Kids probably won’t care, but adults and some older teens may. My mother (57, 5’10” and a healthy weight) hated them, but she had never slept on the previous sofa bed.

Amy Krieger explains around the 7:45 mark.

Wow, that’s sad. I can see it’s thinner, probably due to the depth of the cabinet it folds into. Very disappointing!
