The Poly pool area needs help.

For a resort with the size and stature of the Poly, main pool area is entirely too small and claustrophobic. With the lush vegetation and addition and expansion of the Trader Sam’s outdoor area and kids splash area, the pool itself and seating around it is way too small and limited during busy times.

They attempted to create additional space several years ago when they redid the pool and reduced the size of the volcano. The puny volcano now looks awful. The Poly is WDW’s premier resort and the pool area including the volcano should be above and beyond any other resort.

With space being the main issue, I would suggest Disney moving the Seven Seas Marina to the West side of Fiji and Tuvalu and expanding the pool area in its place. I would also like to see the Volcano quadrupled in size and include a significantly improved water slide or 2. I guess my desire for a little more social distancing is a main concern.

Not sure that I can agree with you on the "premier" part of your post. When it opened it clearly was the premier resort and even had a wave machine to generate waves in the Seven Seas lagoon.

I agree with you and would have liked some resort improvements at the Poly but Disney chose to put in those ugly bungalows on the beach blocking some of the best views from the resort. They did a good job with the re theming of the Oasis pool area for the original basic 1970's pool but the attempts at the feature pool have been somewhat lackluster.

Note: Wave machine was a complete failure and caused massive beach erosion and was relegated to the dust bin of Disney history.

Totally agree Dave, especially with concern of the bungalows...ugh...nobody ever there and it just blocks views of MK and in my opinion is an eyesore. The almighty dollar and lack of space makes Disney feel like they need to cram everything in every open space at the expense of everything else.

I second that disagreement of it being Disneys premier resort. Walk over to GF, walk into the lobby...look up. Then take the monorail two stops, get out and look up. I do like Poly though.

Haven't stayed at Poly since they built the bungalows. That ruined it for me. There was a great hill that overlooked the water that they removed to put in the bungalows. I bet there is a Disboard member who did wedding photos there. I really miss the old Poly.

Okay, maybe the Poly being the Premier Resort might have been a personal opinion, stayed there 5 times , GF twice, but that was a completely ancillary point to my post. Guess I should have used the word (a) so not to step on toes. Anyway, totally agree that the bungalows were a horrible addition. Completely short sighted on Disney's part.

I actually like the Poly pool area. I personally don’t find it too small or claustrophobic. And I really like the Oasis pool too. :)

I think I would have greatly preferred the Poly when my kids were small. I took them to BC when my younger two were 6 and 7, and the oldest 10. I had a lot of anxiety at the pool because it was so hard to keep them all in sight. They were too old for the toddler area, and they all swam well enough to want to be all over the pool, but not well enough for me not to have a heart attack all day long.

We enjoyed the Poly when we went when the kids were a bit older. I never had an issue finding a lounger, but we typically only use one for the whole family. My husband or I would be in the lounger, the other usually in the pool. Rarely did we need two. I can see if you are a sun lover finding it difficult at Poly. The BC was worse for finding a lounger near the pool, but the pool itself is phenomenal. The one that we always got a lounger and the pool are was a nice size (though really boring) was the Contemporary.
