Last week's podcast was very special for me personally. I love every episode, but both of the shows last week really connected with me. I really think the team's handling of the monorail accident was very well done. The crew's view was better than any other media outlet's coverage. Also, Pete's words about following your passion reguardless of money really "hit home" with me. Actually, they brought a tear to the eye.

As I sit here thinking of the events of the past 12 days.....I just had to post about how wonderful the Podcast and the boards are. The podcast is indeed infotainment. The podcast brings information to people in a very fun and entertaining manner.... We all know that, but there is more to it.....In addition to bringing information to people, the podcast brings people to people!

Not only have we gotten to know the crew/team through the podcast.....we have gotten to know each other through the podcast! Sure, the internet is peppered with message boards and online communities available for any subject. Friendships are formed on every message board out there....and there are "meets" for other boards. However, what has taken place here is incredible and wonderful. People here are close friends. Friends that may have never had the chance to meet if it was not for the Podcast. Look at the number of DIS meets that take place around the country. Far from a Disney park or resort. Yes, Disney is our favorite destination, but the bonds and friendships here have grown so close that if people here cannot go visit Disney, they go visit each other. Also, it's true the every podcast has listeners and fans.....but here, we get to know each other through the podcast. Be it the Sistern Saga, a trip report, or DATW phone call....we get to know each other through the Podcast, even before we start reading the boards.

I'm sorry for rambling on. I have been thinking about Kevin's Father and Austin Wuennenberg today, and I just felt like writing.

I hope I'm not out of line for saying this, but I think that when Mr. Klose and Austin got to heaven, Bob Varley was the first to greet them and give them a tour. :-)

Skip, that actually brought tears to my eyes. What you have written here is just beautiful and I could not agree more. Pete has done a very magical thing by bringing us together and, even when time gets tough, I know it's worth it and hope he does too. His discussion last week of how it is hard to "get away" from work, had my eyebrows raised. I can agree with that and sometimes having your dream job can become overwhelming to the point of wanting to take a break or avoid it. It's important to balance your life so that you force yourself to get away from work so that you only appreciate it more in the long run. I know I have had to do this myself with teaching. Everybody needs a break...whether it's a teacher, doctor, cast member, or business owner.

Thank you again for your post here and thank you for the thousandth time, Pete, for creating such a special community. It means so much to so many people. :grouphug:

Very well said! :thumbsup2

I absolutely love being a part of this community! You folks, podcasters and dissers alike, are a fabulous group of people!

Those were some pretty amazing thoughts that you just wrote. I sure hope Bob was there for the meet & greet.

Great Job!!!:thumbsup2

Great job writing that. The people we have met here are just great and if it wasn't for the podcast we would not have known them. Now looking forward to meeting more!!

And I'm sure Bob already did everything ahead of time and has their eternity all planned out, complete with printed itinerary.

This is so true...

And not just on the podcast part of the boards...

I agree completely! Thanks for posting this! :thumbsup2

That was put beautifully :goodvibes I have to agree, I've made some very close friendships I never imagined I would.

The whole Podcast team do a great job and I can't thank them enough.

There are even meets here in the UK (not that I've been to any) and we get a fraction of Disney compared to the USA - it's so nice to find so many like minded people :thumbsup2

Skip- I could not have said it better myself.

Sometimes I feel like I am lucky to have stumbled in :)

I've known this for a while now....

And now everyone is going to know...

Skip, you are one special guy and I'm honored to be your friend.

Thanks for what you've written.

in really light, small font. :goodvibes

Skip - That was amazing. Thank you so much.

eta: I was literally just telling a co-worker what an amazing group the Dis forums is just before I read this and that I like my "imaginary computer friends" better than my local friends. This is the most caring, helpful group of people and I am so very proud to be a part of this incredible group.

That is why this site is so incredible and wonderful. All message boards have the potential to reach around the world, but very few, if any, have created the kind of close friendships that have formed here. Other sites may have a meet here, a meet there. This site has meets all the time.

I've been omline since 1993. I've made a friend here, a friend there. I've gone to an ocassional dinner meet. However, this is the first time I have ever seen a website or podcast bond people together like this one has.

That is why this site is so special. Far beyond the subject matter....people are bonded together.
