I received a DVC survey today asking what additional benefits would impact my decision to purchase DVC. Two of the options posted concerned me as current owner.
1 - early booking for a fee. Which would allow booking 12 months in advance
2 - booking based on number of points owned
I am noy happy with either potential option as both take away the even playing field for all owners.
Did anyone else receive this survey?

Not a fan. It says “up to”, wouldn’t be shocked to see tiers.
At $X you can book non home resort at 8 months, at $XX you can book non home at 9 months, etc
Don’t think they can get ahead of home owner priority, and everyone is supposed to be on a even playing field with first come first serve

I hope I get that survey - I’d definitely say NO to paid early booking and to booking based on number of points owned.

That last-minute deals offer sounds good, though, even though I doubt I’d be able to take advantage of it. Sounds like instead of renting out breakage for cash they’d let members use points.

I did not get this. I would like there to be a place for notes so I could give them a piece of my mind.
If they implement #1 most members will lose their minds.
I could get on board with #3.
As for #2 if I owned Hilton Head Id not be happy they are even floating this as a potential, pay massive dues and then non owners can book at 11 months, crazy.

What was the title of the email so I can be on the lookout for it?

I don't like #1 at all. An early booking fee sounds like it would be one of those items that would be available with the Magic Membership Beyond (or whatever it's called). If so, that would only be available for direct owners. I don't know if that is where they would go with that service, but yikes, that sounds awful for resale members.

What was the specific question on booking based on number of points owned? If they did that, it would pave the way for rewarding those with mega points that do commercial rentals.

I love 3. Enjoy reduced point costs for bookings less than 3 months from date of check in. ❤️ !

2. Makes you wonder the intent of this question. Like who was the exec to float this? They must know it would be un exceptable for owners across DVC. “If they do it to HHI, whats to keep them from doing it to Vero, Aulani, or Grand Floridian??

I do NOT like early booking for a fee. That pisses me off royally. I have always espoused the buy-where-you-want-to-stay priority since we always have to travel peak weeks for school vacations/federal long weekends for work. I'm anal about planning our vacations way in advance with flights and work coverage and school testing, etc.

If I was shut out of my home resort (Riviera) and had to pay for preferred room views or do a split stay AT MY HOME RESORT booking at exactly 11 months out, GRRRR.

Every large point broker would happily pay the fee to horde tower studios, regular studios, and grand villas for every holiday/RunDisney event.

Every club level at Animal Kingdom would be gone.

Forget Boardwalk and Beach Club, even owning there isn't getting you in there peak weeks! Aghhh.

Have not received survey.........everyday brains are trying to figure out a way to get more $$ from our membership. How far can they/will they go. How much are members willing to pay.

It’s not clear to me if #1 is still limited to resorts where you already own but if so is this any different than the concept a Favorite Week? This would be ad-hoc and not limited to 7-day reservation but you’d be paying a premium to book ahead of others for a specific type of room…?

Can they even implement the early booking for a fee option? Isn't that in contravention with the POS?

Before everyone loses their marbles…. please pay attention to the “at select resorts”…. i.e resorts where Disney probably has a lot of points….
Like others have said I don't know how they could implement this at existing resorts. It is possible that they could do this at new resorts where Disney "owns" plenty of rooms that have not yet been declared. Essentially, they will take your point plus some cash (early booking fee) for you to be able to use your non-home resort points at a new resort where Disney has plenty of cash rooms available. For example, if I could use my non-Poly points plus a fee at 12 months to book a sought after room that otherwise is not declared and available to DVC members yet, I am essentially booking a cash room by trading my points to Disney.
