Just came back from a NON-DVC over night trip to NY. We visited The Plaza and would love to stay there next time using points. Has anyone ever stayed there? If so, what did you think of the rooms etc.. Thanks!

They sure want a whole lotta points to stay there. I was thinking the alternative hotel looked better point wise. Of course, maybe it's worth it to stay at the Plaza at least once. I just wonder if cash would be better than all those points....

Beautiful hotel, GREAT location....... I've stayed there several times on business. The rooms are stately and have been refurbished over the years. The Plaza often has weekend deals, so I'd compare cash to DVC.

Have a great stay,

I know it's alot of points but I thought it might just be worth it for one night. It just looks so elegant! We live in central NJ and it's just a hop on the train. Maybe we'll try a weekday instead. I'll call for cash prices. Thanks!:)

Spent four evenings (W-R-F-S) at The Plaza over Thanksgiving and was very disappointed. Service was average at best. Although, I was told that since 9-11, there has been a "considerable reduction in staff". That may have had something to do with the poor service.

The Plaza is a beautiful hotel. I, however, found it dark and aging. The door to our room's bathroom literally rotted off of the hinges!

Location is great. Across the street from Central Park, F. A. O. Shwarz, and a small CBS studio where Saturday, Sunday, and NFL broadcasts take place. Many outside broadcasts during our stay. Had the opportunity to meet the CBS NFL crew and ran into Yoko Ono in Central Park.

If you have the points, it is worth at least one stay. Be prepared. . . everyone has there hand out for a tip. If I had it to do again I would stay at a different hotel.

We spent a weekend at the Plaza using vacation club points and had a great time. The city is great and the hotel is great; however, the room leaves much to be desired. We were told that we were booked into the lowest grade room in the hotel. The room was small and dark and it was very expensive in points. There are many great deals on hotel rooms in NYC right now and I'm don't think you get a very good value for your vacation club points at the Plaza. All the same, we had a great time. JMHO.

There are so many good hotels in New York City. Don't waste the points on the Plaza. Hotel occupancy rates are way down so I'm sure you could get a good deal pretty much anywhere now.

We stayed at the Millford Plaza while in NY. The rooms were very very small (two single beds and a bathroom that was like a closet to be exact!). I would really expect alot from the The Plaza. I think I'll find another place to spend our points... I don't want to be disappointed (especially using that many points!). Thank you all for your valuable advice!

I just saw an ad in one of the papers for the Plaza. They are offering rooms for 199.00 a night. I am not sure what the restrictions were, (sorry).

Just got our VM today. The Plaza is offering a special deal January 2-March 31 where DVC members get a $100 credit per room to be used at the gift shop, spa or for food & beverage at the hotel. This helps to make up the difference between a regular priced Plaza Room (using our points) and the discounts they are currently offering.

Pre-Sept. 11 you would never have seen The Plaza for $199. The downturn in the economy and NY tourism has deflated the prices.

I missed that in VM! I'll check it out. Tourism was booming last weekend in NY. It was packed with people!! I couldn't believe it. The train from NJ was standing room only.
