The Pirates and the Frog (7/17 Welcome to the Next Adventure!)

I'm so glad to hear you all enjoyed Tangled! :goodvibes We really want to see it but couldn't get a time this weekend when we could all go. Hopefully we'll make it next weekend.

Definitely get out there - you guys will love it.

Sorry to hear your dinner wasn't enjoyable. I never seem to hear good things about the TS restaurants at the moderates.

Unfortunately, it happens.
There are so many great Disney eateries, there's bound to be a bad one here and there.
Now we know which one to avoid!
But we're looking forward to all the new ones next trip!!

Basically, the service was slow and the adult meals were borderline unedible.
This was by far the worst meal we’ve ever had at Walt Disney World.
I’d rate it along with Capt’n Jack’s as the worst two restaurants we’ve been at on property.
I didn’t even finish mine and we stormed away with our bellies still empty.

From a culinary standpoint, then, it sounds like Tramp made the right call casting off in search of a different galley to plunder. And just as well, as he can be a scurvy cur when the grub ain't up to snuff. pirate:

Yes, I think it was good fortune that he did not hang around for that one.
We definitely would've heard about it for years to come...

Hey everyone.
So between Stacey's broken ankle, our computer monitor dying, and then the CPU frying, I've been very behind.
Yes, it's been a fun winter thus far.
I promise as soon as the new CPU comes in and I get the hard drive with all the pics hooked back up, I will continue.
For now, Please stand by as we are experiencing technical difficulties.
I will post later today with our Disney Movie of the Week though.
So stay tuned for that! :goodvibes

Hmm... I've got a suggestion for relieving the tension of the beginning of winter.

Take a trip to Disney! :cool1:

:hyper: :mickeyjum Only 47 Days :hourglass to go 'til we get there. Yay! :woohoo:

party:

I like that suggestion !!!!

Yeah, it's been a rough couple of weeks with broken bones and broken computers.
Hopefully the new PC will arrive soon and I can move on to Day 3 of our trip.
Although it's gonna be tough to get it all done before we head back to the world in January.

So while I wait for my new computer to arrive in order to transfer my pics sitting on the fried computer's hard drive...

Let's talk Disney Movie Countdown.
Last week, we celebrated Chanukah in the Capell household and Disney DVD's were among the presents - big surprise.

So our weekend flick was a selection of those.
We decided to revisit a recent selection in preparation of meeting them in the park.
And we are definitely looking forward to the new "magic" photo opportunity that we have seen images of.
Of course, we are speaking none other than the royalty and her amphibian:

We really enjoyed the music from this movie and it was a nice foray back into the world of 2D Animation.
DD6 immediately vaulted Tiana into her "Top 3" princesses along with Ariel and Belle (although Rapunzel may have upset that mix a bit as well).
The movie was fun and light-hearted and we enjoyed it again this second time on DVD.
It was made even better by the experiences we had on our "Pirate Trip" that I was hoping to recount shortly.
So before I give too much away, let's revisit this topic a bit later in our story.
For now, sit tight and I promise I shall be back soon.
In fact, I will try to upload Day 3 pics from my backups so I don't have to put you into suspense all weekend.

So the new computer is in and I've even saved all our data from the depth of the ether.
I hope to get back to the trip report tonight or tomorrow.
In the meantime, since I'm overdue on my Disney Weekend Movie Countdown, let's talk movies!!

The second weekend in December was another chance to watch some of the movies that Chanukah Harry gave out.
This time we went with something from X's stash...

Toy Story 3

We love this movie.
It's a great send off for the old gang.
And Lotso is probably the most villanious Disney character ever created.
I mean, we know Magnificient is evil and Chernabog is downright scary.
But when Lotso doesn't push that button and walks away? That's downright evil.

The movie has laughs (Buzz is Spanish is brilliant), adult humor (who doesn't remember those Ken and Barbie outfits?), and a whole escape sequence.
And, yes, even after we knew what was coming, both Mom and DS8 cried at the end.
That ending just tugs at those heart strings.
All in all, a great movie and a great way to count down the days to meeting Buzz and Woody in the parks.
Will we meet Lotso? I'm not sure - it depends on whether or not I am armed with a baseball bat or not... :rolleyes1
And then there's Toy Story Mania and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
So we're definitely looking forward to January!!

So we move to this past weekend.
This one came from the present stash of our little princess.
However, it was not a princess movie - we've already done all those.
This time, it was a relatively new Meet and Greet character who we plan to see once again in January.
DD6 met her last time around but the boys didn't get it.
"Hey Dad - why is there a giant cat in France?"
So we sat them down for their history lesson and popped in...

The Aristocats

Another charming movie from the days of old.
DD8 was convinced he didn't want to see it but joined us after he heard laughter throughout the house.
I think the thing that stands out most is the amount of familiar voices.
Eva Gabor (for the adults) is unmistakable as Dutchess and then there's Baloo doing the voice of Tom O'Malley.
Even the lesser characters are famous in our house.
Scatman Cruthers voices the Transformer Jazz in one of DS8's favorite shows,
and one his bandmates is the bouncy, bouncy Tigger to X's delight!
For park afficianados there's Thurl Ravenscroft - WDW Railroad narrator, lead singer of Grim, Grinning Ghosts, and Fritz from the Enchanted Tiki Room.

The movie itself is delightful and we spent the whole time comparing ourselves to the characters.
Of course little X was quick to point out that Mom was Dutchess and Dad was Tom O'Malley.
Our princess fits the bill of Marie to a tee.
And then the mischievous X compares to Berlioz while the older, "more mature," DD8 is an easy Toulouse.
Watching the movie thinking of your family as the cats gives it an extra giggle and we had a blast throughout.
And this January, everyone will know who that big, giant cat is in France... ;)

But now it's back to our story. pirate:
If I recall, and I know it's been awhile, the Pirates were getting ready to storm the Kingdom.
The Magic Kingdom that is...

Love the movie update! TS3 was my favorite of the TS movies and I'm looking forward to seeing it again this weekend as I have a feeling Santa might be bringing it for Dale :)

As for the Aristocats...it was one of my favorites as a kid and I remember getting a stuffed Marie on my very first visit :goodvibes Sounds like comparing your family to the cats was a lot of fun! I bet you're all getting really excited for your fast approaching trip!

Looking forward to more :)

Thanks Dawn.
I didn't remember alot of Aristocats actually - I think I've only seen it once before.
And Toy Story 3 is definitely a classic - could even be the 1st animated movie to win Best Film.

As for the TR, I'm afraid I lost everyone with my long hiatus.
So I promise to get a bunch of updates done before the New Year!

I know I am way far behind on your TR but can I just say that I bought TS3 today at Costco and I am watching it tonight. I can't wait. I haven't been this excited about a movie in ...well in....forever!

Bring a box of tissues!! :goodvibes

Ahoy there mateys.
It be some time but I finally fixed that darn antiquated machine on me desk and now it be back to telling tales.
If I recall, we be up to Day Three of our quest to pillage and plunder the Mouse.
We rose before dawn to catch the Mouse unaware and boarded the iron horses to the Kingdom of Magic.
Disney2009Pirates474-002.jpg

Our mission this morning was simple – scout out the Kingdom for weaknesses.
We needed to be ready for the attack was scheduled for tonite at dusk.
Out front, they were advertising the evening festivities – festivities which would make it easy for us to sneak in undetected.
Disney2009Pirates474-003.jpg

Then we arrived at the gates themselves.
Rays of sun began to shine but there were still not many souls stirring this morn.
Disney2009Pirates474-004.jpg

We had arrived over an hour earlier than park opening for we had a date with the galley beyond.
In an attempt to explore the park without patrons, we scheduled our grub at 8:05 while the park would not open until nine.
The Pirate Princess was raring to go dressed to fit in with our breakfast breathren.
Disney2009Pirates474-005a.jpg

We approached Town Square and began to explore.
However, The Mouse is always watching.
He appears in various shapes and sizes throughout the park including some pumpkins themed for All Hallow’s Eve (which, as a reminder, was the night before).
Disney2009Pirates475.jpg

It was November 1st and we had the park to ourselves.
Disney2009Pirates476-001.jpg

So we slowed down to check out the inhabitants.
Pumpkin-headed creatures stood watch throughout the Town Square.
These two were the leaders of a Pumpkinhead Band of sorts:
Disney2009Pirates476-002.jpg

Trying to blend in, of course, our Pirate Princess began to hob nob with the royalty.
Here she is after discussing the state of affairs with the Mayor and the First Lady.
Disney2009Pirates477.jpg

Off to one side were two more of the Pumpkinhead creatures.
Disney2009Pirates478-001.jpg

Here is the Captain of the Baseball Team (who needs a lesson on what body part ye is supposed to catch the ball with).
Disney2009Pirates478-002.jpg

Alongside the poor sport is a maiden of sorts.
Disney2009Pirates478-003.jpg

Next our Princess took her place alongside the “other halves” of the founders of this land.
The Mouse’s maiden is immortalized here with the founder’s brother.
Disney2009Pirates479-001.jpg

Then it was on to the shops.
Resisting the urge to plunder (this was a scouting mission after all), the Princess cozied up to the establishment for some recon.
Disney2009Pirates480.jpg

And then we discovered the marks.
The Mouse was placing clues inside these pumpkins it seems and then hiding them high above the storefronts.
Aye, but me hearties had kept their eyes out and we found ‘em all.
First, a strip of film above the Main Street Cinema.
Disney2009Pirates482.jpg

Disney2009Pirates481.jpg

Next was a clown snowman of sorts.
And the creepy bloke was surrounded by screams of terror.
Disney2009Pirates484.jpg

Disney2009Pirates483.jpg

Then the American pastime of baseball was encoded in pumpkins above Casey’s Corner galley.
Disney2009Pirates485.jpg

Disney2009Pirates486.jpg

And of course where there be baseball, there be hot dogs.
Disney2009Pirates487.jpg

…and French fries
Disney2009Pirates488.jpg

Across the way was the dessert parlor.
Disney2009Pirates489.jpg

Disney2009Pirates490.jpg

Finally there loomed the Castle itself.
The beacon of hope to all those who enter.
The bastion of this land and the center of our attack this evening.
Disney2009Pirates492.jpg

It was here that we needed to focus our efforts.
Stay tuned...

We needed a better vantage point so we headed port to grab a position across the moat.
Disney2009Pirates493.jpg

From here, me crew studied the structure trying to find a weakness in the architecture.
We needed a way in!
Disney2009Pirates496.jpg

And here be proof that the Mouse has spies.
As we were scouting the facades, is seems I had a spyglass following me!
Disney2009Pirates497.jpg

Disney2009Pirates498.jpg

Alas, it was time to fill our bellies.
We approached the galley with a view of the Castle and X was too excited to contain himself.
Here is a video where you can see him run and dance and bop to the soundtrack of the park.

We found a passerby and implored them to document our position with some portraits of me entire crew.
Disney2009Pirates503.jpg

Disney2009Pirates504a.jpg

And then I scoured the area for any other details that would help with our forthcoming invasion.
The only other sights I located were these interesting globes orbiting near the horizon.
Disney2009Pirates505.jpg

And with that, we gathered ourselves for an assault on the local galley.
Grab a plate, a jug of grog, and find yerself a spot at our table over yonder.
If someone’s already there, stab ‘em in the eye and take their spot.
We be pirates after all!

Fun update! Aren't the themed jack-o-lanterns down Main St fun?! I love how they are all perfectly placed. So cute!

Great family picture in front of the castle! I can't wait to hear about your crew's breakfast! :)

Yeah, it was nice of someone to take that shot - too bad they cut off the top of the castle. :confused3

As for the pumpkins, they are a blast - we loved finding them all over.
I believe we took some more shots of them on the way out later in the afternoon.
