The Picture... the whole story.

Such a fantastic memory you have of that day :thumbsup2

Holy cow! Or as Mickey might say: "Hot Dog!"

Does this mean we all have to start scavenging through our old photos trying to top that one? Not gonna happen :lmao:

What a fun event! I hope you have that framed on your wall somewhere!

It's so true that tourism needed a kick in the pants then. We went to Disney World for Thanksgiving week after 9/11 with our Russian exchange student. We literally decided to go on Sunday night before Thanksgiving. We were able to purchase plane tickets that night and leave the next morning, at dirt cheap prices. We landed in Orlando and could just walk up to the car rental counter and get a car with no reservation. We called Disney Reservations while driving from the Orlando airport toward Disney and were able to book a room at Caribbean Beach for 1/2 price for the entire week of Thanksgiving. We were also able to get all the dining arrangements we wanted while on the phone driving to the resort. Can you imagine?! The parks were not empty, but it certainly was much, much lighter than a typical Thanksgiving week at Disney. That was the most carefree trip we've ever taken to Disney... no preplanning or worrying about booking windows.

What a great story, and I can't believe that peeps didn't know how he was!!

It always amazes me how these old (three years old) threads pop up from time to time and we all just pick up where we left off several years ago! :hyper2:

But this really is a timeless story and will always be a great one. I already commented on the thread and it took me a minute to figure out what my supposedly witty comment meant!

If that were our photo, we'd have that blown up to poster size and framed in our Disney-themed area of the house! :thumbsup2

What an incredible picture and story, and how amazing to hear that Roy Disney was such a down to earth fellow. Thanks so much for sharing! :goodvibes

It's not just you I look at some of my old posts and wonder what I was thinking when I wrote them too :lmao: I think we all have DISboard amnesia.

That reminds me, time to bump the thread about a monster under the drivers seat!
