How do you get to be in the parades? Do you have to audition to be a character? For some reason, I thought characters were the main ones...mikey and crew and then the princesses and crew. Don't parades normally have more people in them? Is there a way you can not be a charecter but be in the parade?

Joanna can probably provide a more complete answer on this one, but I'll take a stab at it.

To the best of (limited) my knowledge you must be in the normal character pool in order to work in parades. Whether or not you're able to perform in parades comes down to role availability, training and a highly positive color/skill code. As such, the normal audition process applies. I think a few CPs have gone in to parades/shows, but Joanna or someone else will need to provide a more concise answer.

Parade performers are not dedicated to parades/shows exclusively. They can be assigned to perform as characters in various parks and resorts.

Yes. To be in the parades, you have to be a character performer. You have to audition for performer first, and then you may be chosen to be in parades.

Chris and Joanna have already answered your question, but I also wanted to state what I knew as well. When you pass an audition, you will be offered a role as a character performer. You will have a color code from your 1st audition, which will tell you if are you eligible to preference certain shows and/or parades.

The color code expires in one year, so if you want to get a new one, you will have to go to a 2nd audition specifically for color coding. This is a bit similar to the first audition and not necessarily any "harder."

On The Hub, there is a place in Entertainment where you can preference certain shows and/or parades based on your color code. Yes, there are very many cast members in the parades.

There are so many characters out in the parks - not limited to the main ones. :) Yes, you can just be friends with a "meet-and-greet" character and not do parades/shows - that is what I did/am doing.
