Just bought in to DVC. It's possible that DH and I might want to book either Vero or HHI for several days (by ourselves with no kids) for long weekend. (Already have 2 WDW trips with the kids planned.)

I know NOTHING about these resorts (despite looking on several websites & researching.) I've seen pictures...I've read others' posts, but I still don't know what the overall "feel" of each resort is.

Which (if any) is more appropriate for a long weekend away for 2 adults? Is either geared more towards kids...or is either more "romantic?" Or would you all suggest that a WDW resort is actually more appropriate for a grown-up weekend away with no kids?

Having never seen either Vero or HH, I'm not quite sure where to book... or to just try for a VWL stay (for it's seclusion.)

Advice appreciated!

The most romantic place, I think, is Vero. I have never been to HH, though, so I am biased. DH and I went there and stayed in an inn room(a studio). Leave the balcony door open and listen to the ocean at night, take the table to the balcony, and have a candlelit dinner with wine delivered to your room. Take long walks on the beach, or share a couple of "noodles" in the pool. Go to the champagne brunch on Sunday. We had a wonderful time.

This resort is much more laid back than the resorts on-property, and perfect for romance. I would definitely go again! :goodvibes

I've been to both, and I'd vote VB as well. It's a great resort with everything you need on site for a long weekend. Get an Inn room with an ocean view on the second floor, and you'll be a short walk away from the Green Cabin room where you can relax, watch the ocean, and have a few drinks. Have fun

We have been to both. HHI twice and VB 6 or 7 times. I think both are very much the same in atmosphere. Our next trip will be to HHI (if we can get in at the 7 month mark). That seems a more difficult to do at HHI than VB. I particularly like VB because I love the beach and riding the waves. The beach at VB is right there, just a 2 minute walk from your room. So it is easy to pop up to the room to get lunch, refresh a drink, use the bathroom, etc. On the other hand the beach at HHI requires some sort of transport to get to. Walking is possible, but I think it is like 1.5 miles to the beach house. Still HHI has the marshes, which is an interesting ecosystem in itself. Both are romantic. Perhaps the time of year and average temps might sway you one way or the other. Or maybe which is more convenient to get to for you. Which ever you choose first you should visit both at some point. You won't be disappointed with either. :thumbsup2

My vote would be for an Ocean View room at the Inn. We went 2 years ago and loved it. Very relaxing and the food was really good as well.

We've been to both. We didn't like HHI at all. The distance from the beach made it undesirable for us. On the other hand, we loved VB so much, we decided to add on points there.

We've done both, and love them both...

In terms of romance, I would have to vote for VB over HHI... (But that's MHO)....

A few reasons why...

1) VB is right on the ocean.. Great for long strolls...
2) VB has two onsite restaurants, counter service, and the Green Cabin Room if you want to drink, dance, or listen to lounge music... Depending on who's there at night.. (HHI only has counterservice onsite...)

HHI on the other head has a more active surrounding area... Lots of choices of places to eat and places to go... Especially golfing...

Romance can be found anywhere so I would not limit one or the other. Unless you stay in the Inn, at Vero Beach you will not have a direct view of the ocean. So if you do stay there book an Inn room.

I have stayed at both and if proximity to the ocean is important then definitely book Vero. That said we much prefer HHI, for the endless choice of hundreds of places to eat and shopping and entertainment. We find the views at HHI very relaxing, with the marsh on side and the marina on the other.

We found Vero to be much more isolated and less to do except right at the resort. We were not that impressed with the immediate surrounding areas as compared to HHI.

VB Ocean View Inn Room!!!!!!!

We    VB. We put our kids in the discovery program one evening and it was very romantic.

At HHI, you don't have direct access to the ocean.
