The open October 2015 pre-trip report

Oh man... I feel your pain. That's will do the job until you get it back and put it in the shop. I would of fill it up with marine 5200, that's stuff will out last the camper!

No shop, I'll be doing that job myself.

OK - minus 10 days and counting...

I know this is a little weird - but does anyone else have feelings of remorse as you get closer to the arrival date? Not the feeling that you don't want to go - instead, the feeling that you wish the arrival date was a little further away? Something about the anticipation...

I get a little cross waiting. My thought is, "Darn it let's DO this...."

Bama Ed

We (DH and I) are fulltimers/workampers. We are just finishing up our jobs at a campground in PA and head to Florida around Oct 8th. Saying our goodbyes to our families who are all in this area, which is always bittersweet. Our stay at Fort Wilderness is our annual vacation. Can't wait to now be a guest at a campground, especially at FW and I'm looking forward to putting my feet up and just relaxing in that wonderful atmosphere.

Less than two weeks out!!! Yesterday I was working in MA on a new job site. All I could think about is how to survive next week. Knowing that next Friday, I would have the last full week under my belt. Just keep swimming. The departure time will soon to arrive. Besides people like Bama Ed have their popcorn ready for this TR.

I am SO glad you posted this benjyt! Because this is exactly the feelings I have had for this past week, and everyone here thinks I'm insane and just a short walk from being locked in the looney bin LOL We're at 3 days away now- heading to the cities for the airport Monday- and just last night I said to my husband "Now that's it's almost time to go, it needs to wait just a little bit longer". And I got "the look"....

But it's exactly as you described- after planning and anticipating this for almost 2 years, knowing that 3 weeks from now we'll be home again tears at my heart. I want the time to come, but I don't want that time of it being just a memory to get here.... So you are not the only one- there are at least 2 of us out here

Where did time go?? We started off strong plotting and planning our first Fort stay, but time raced by way too fast. Finally, last evening we made it out and picked up Halloween decorations for RV and for our golf cart. Work is so getting in the way of all things that I want to do. I need to be more on top of getting ready for the December trip. I love Disney!

Aight,

According to my Disney countdown app on my phone today is 14 days out. This week will become cleaning week. We'll be washing the roof and the rest of the exterior then move on to the interior. I have already checked out all the appliances including the furnace, both refrigerators, water heater, stove, etc. Everything in working order.

This is usually when the packing list starts...and then gets rewritten about 15 times before we actually leave.

I did get one thing done in the last few days, and that was my Disboard sign. Here's a pic with my two assistants

Well, fixing to head to work. This weekend will have to be spent working on planting deer fields for the winter so that I have all that done before I leave just in case we actually get some rain around here. It is so dry and dusty...

More to come...

Our short trip to Pigeon Forge went well, and I updated my "list" to add a few things.

But DH was walking around truck today and noticed the sway bar part of the trailer hitch that had been welded to the trailer hitch was almost off.
It was not that way on Monday when we returned, so we don't know how or why.
Good part is he saw it before Wednesday and has a friend that will weld it together on Monday.

Yeah I feel ya! I love the planning and will miss it when I'm all done. As much as I love going on the actual trip, I'll spend the whole time dreading the end and it being all over.

Today is the day. Well, not THE DAY - we leave South Georgia for Lake Buena Vista this Friday afternoon, spending the night at a hotel and heading to the Fort on Saturday - but the day that I/we buckle down with travel lists, preliminary packing, and Fast Pass choices (if there are any left). Weather Channel forecasts look like typical late Summer/early Fall weather, warm and chances of rain. We all got a little giddy yesterday as we purchased our Halloween-themed t-shirts for MNSSHP.

Nothing like the last week before WDW.

Our last full day here in MN! Tomorrow around noon we'll be loading up the van and heading down to the cities to spend the night before our 6:50am flight to Orlando! Yesterday I buckled down and actually packed our suitcases except for last minute things...Carryons are ready.... After church today we'll pick up our last minute things, and also get the van vacuumed out... Tomorrow morning my daughter and I are going in early to have our nails done with Disney designs- just a special one time thing I wanted to do :) I will be at the fort just a little over 48 hours from now!

Have a great trip! We are not leaving until next Monday, around 7:30 PM, and putting us at our hotel in Titusville Fl. around 9:30 PM Tuesday night, picking up our camping gear early Wednesday morning and spending 2 nights at a county campground in Titusville before heading over to the fort.

Today has us taking care of all our patio furniture so we won't have to do it when we get back from vacation. Also going to be detailing the car today, and starting to get the phone chargers and tv's put into the back seat for the girls. The girls and DW are going to start packing there bags, mine was packed about 2 weeks ago. Still need to purchase tickets to 2 more attractions that we want to do. That will been done next Saturday. Online check in was done last night, now the only thing left to do is wait.:rolleyes1 6 1/2 more days of work before we are on our way. :hourglass

We did loop requests the other day when we did online check in. So who knows where we will actually wind up.

Have an awesome vacation. I hope the weather is great. We are anxious to see your reports. We arrive on Dec. 29, but you won't be there, unless you change your mind!!. Bummer. Safe travels.

Aight, we got our online checkin done today. Requested 1000 loop, just something telling me to try something different. We also purchased our Memory Maker in advance for a discount. At least...that's what they say.

A little bummed this evening. There is supposed to be a big eclipse with the moon tonight that only happens about every 30 years. I was really looking forward to showing it to my kids. As luck would have it, it has not rained here in 2 months, and tonight it decides to cloud up and rain...

In somewhat pre-trip related, I was fueling up my wife's vehicle and glanced at the diesel fuel prices at Murphy USA. Shopping the fuel prices to get prepared for filling up before leaving for the Fort. Anyway, Murphy USA is a usually pretty competitive fuel price stop normally found sharing parking lots with Wal-Mart. In fact, Wal-Mart even offers a discount if you use your Wal-Mart card. So, when I looked at the diesel price this is what I saw...the lower price is what you pay in cash or with any other credit card except your Wal Mart card, or at least, the lower price is what I paid.

So let me get this straight:
You buy a Wal-Mart card...
...So you can pay more for fuel?

Did I miss something?

You are suppose to save 3 cents with a shopping card. With a Wal-Mart Master Card you save 5 cents.

I paid the $2.22 with my debit card, which is what was strange to me. I paid less with my debit than if I had a Wal Mart card. The clerk said it messes up from time to time.

Luckily a local truckstop has diesel for $2.05 currently so hopefully it will hold in that range.
