Day 3........The One Where it Was Cloudy..........(for the first hour)

Monday 17 August
We were woken at 6.15 by Goofy on the phone and we were down to breakfast at 7.00am. The Parkside Diner and Manhattan Restaurant were both closed for refurbs so breakfast was in the Convention Centre each morning. The food was delicious and we all filled ourselves up.

We left to go the Park and were pleased to find the temperature was not so crazy today – it was pleasantly warm and the sun had yet to break through. We got to the Park just as they opened so were able once again to start off with 3 goes on Buzz. Husband and Dtr then rode SM twice before we went on Peter Pan.

We decided to go to the Studios for rope drop and queue for Crush. As we queued the sun came out ....and then stayed out all day. I collected FPs for Flying Carpets, so after they rode Crush we were able to go straight on the Carpets. It was just after 11 now – we went to get FPs for RocknRoller Coaster and take a look in the refurbished Backlot Express. Half of it is done out like the HSM school cafeteria

and the other half is supposed to be the Black Pearl.

We went to watch the HSM show next. Stitch was going to be in English just before midday so we waited for that and found him as funny as ever. It was time for our FPs after this.
We left the Studios then – Husband decided he was too full up to even think about lunch (I told you the breakfast was great) so he went off to the garage at Santa Fe to buy some milk whilst Dtr and I got lunch at the New York Sandwich bar (eating that outside) and then went to the Disney Store where Dtr bought her plush – choosing Sully this time.
Back at the hotel I went for a sleep while the other 2 went for a swim.
We all freshened up and headed back to the Parks.

More sunshine, more high temperatures. :cloud9:

As we were a little early for dinner we had time to sit in Fantasia Gardens and people watch until 6.30 when we were booked into California Grill.

We had a magnificent meal – Husband’s first time in here and he was impressed.

After eating we went in the Park, skirted around Central Plaza as Mickey’s Magical Party Time was taking place, and entered Fantasyland. Snow White was already closed so we went on IASW. Pirates and Indiana followed this before we went to Frontierland to see the wait at BTM – it was 55 minutes so we decided to go on Phantom Manor instead. From here we could see that BTM had broken down. One train was stuck on the incline with lots of people on board and they were still there when we came out of PM.

It was obvious BTM was not going to reopen that night and most other rides were closed as Fantillusion was due to begin. We decided to skip the parade and fireworks and go for cocktails in Cafe Fantasia. Husband had a Mojito while Dtr and I had Virgin Ladas. We walked back to the HNY and collapsed exhausted into bed.

Another lovely day. :goodvibes

What do you think of the changes to the Backlot Express?

In summer we only went in for a nosy - didn't try and eat there. It looks very nice and very well themed.
Last week, we attempted to have lunch there, but we gave up and went elsewhere. It wasn't so much that the queue was long, but that it is cafeteria-style service. You have to pick up your food and then queue to pay and the hot food is the first thing you come to! So by the time you have paid, your food could have been cooling on your tray for 10 minutes.

It did look nice though - pastrami and mozarella baguettes, croques monsieur, chicken and pesto rolls - stuff like that. They were all about 6 Euros so not too dear. If it were quiet I would probably go there to try again.
