We are having baked stuffed pork chops, mashed potato and peas. My dh had his rotator cuff done today and I figure he can eat the potato if he doesn't feel like the rest of it. It's one of his favorite meals though... I bet he'll eat it.

I hope his recovery goes well. My DH is having shoulder surgery tomorrow.:scared1:

Good luck to your DH! DH had the other rotator cuff done in 2005 and had a fabulous outcome! I hope your dh's goes as well!

He did throw my meal plans out the window though.... He wants a pizza "I'd really like a Pat's Combo with extra mushrooms" Then he said I could only get pizza for him and still make the pork.... fat chance... we're all having pizza!:thumbsup2

Kathy good luck to your husband tomorrow and you too.:hug:

Again I was keep busy at work and had no time to post. Tonight I go to meet Alex's teachers. Soon I'll have to tell them about our trip.

I better go and get dinner together so I can get to the school meet this teachers and get home I hope before 8:00.

Mermaid02 I hope your DH recovers quickly.

MA pigletfan I hope your pup feels better also. They are like babies you don't know what is bothering them if only they could talk.

Sorry to be a downer, but with the anniversary of Katrina tomorrow, all the memories come flooding back. The damage to my house was immense but nothing compared to losing my sweet Dad. He never knew when he evacuated that he would not make it back home, it was the beginning of the end of his life journey.:sad1:

Oh Kathy I was hearing about the anniversary I didn't want to mention it just in case you all were able to put it out your minds for a minute.
I wish I could do or say something that would easy your suffering. I've never been good with words. You are in my prayers.

Tonight we're going to Lonesome Dove for DH's 30th birthday. The chef, Tim Love, actually won Iron Chef America this year when he went up against Morimoto. It's been on our list but since it's $$ we had to save it for a special occasion =)

8pm reservations and I'm not sure what I'll order. Here is the menu, any thoughts on what you'd get? http://www.lonesomedovebistro.com/dinnermenu2.pdf

Janice - Thanks so much, it's hard for us down here to forget about it. The media coverage is unbelievable, some good some bad. But that's a whole other story. My personal grief just seems so fresh & recent, since I just lost Mom in January. The cycle begins for me. No need for words my friend, I know you are with me.:hug:

Glynis & Aimee - Thanks my friends.:grouphug:

Kathy, I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. The aftermath of Katrina is going to be remembered as one of our country's great failings towards its fellow citizens, in my opinion.

I can't complain about the Red Sox loss now, I suppose...

Anyway, here is dinner--I ended up making belts, which I've mentioned here before--bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, cheese sandwiches. I had to take the bacon off mine, it was yuck-o!

Note my extremely high-end side dish. Yes, those are ore-ida tater tots! Come on, even I get to cheat once in a while!

I had planned to feature various game-ready foods through the series but given that the menu did not help the game outcome, I think I will go back to my normal cooking, rather than expanding my junk food repitoire. My stomach will thank me, definitely!

Dinner was fantastic. We split this incredible appetizer that I wish I could recreate: Applewood Bacon Wrapped Texas Figs Stuffed with Blue Cheese and Smoked Almond

It was SO good. I had a garlic stuffed tenderloin and he had a salmon filet for our entrees. Both were excellent and we ate every last bite.

I think he had a good birthday. I threw a kicking murder mystery dinner party for him Sat and tonight was lowkey with just us. Plus we're watching Blades of Glory right now which he has been dying to see.

Hopefully turning 30 isn't too painful for him =)

You fixed tater tots!!!!!! :goodvibes ;) You are now my hero!!!!! :banana: Yes it is okay if you cheat every once in a while! Sorry the return to junk food didn't help the Sox with the game! I hope fixing fancier foods is the key! Cause I'll go in to deep shock if we start seeing pics of hot dog after hot dog!!!:lmao:

Well, all my babies are now officially in school! I just got all 4 out the door to catch the bus. The twins were so excited to get up, get dressed in their new outfits, and be with the "big kids". I have to admit that I got a bit teary, but I expected that!

Bittersweet, isn't it? The first day of school is so exciting for them, new clothes and shoes, never been used pencils and markers, new backpack (you will notice I did not say book bag, I can be trained :thumbsup2), hard to let them grow up....

Hey All!

I feel like I am feeding Buddy, just made some tuna sandwiches for when Tom gets done tinkering!!!...he is adding a "Johnny bucket" to his tractor...this is like a front end loader. He goes on the tractor message boards and he wants to post a pic of me in the bucket since it holds more weight than me (I will not tell you guys my weight but I am 5'11" and could really lose 30+ #S)...

:lmao::lmao: Lauren, I was going to tease you, but everyone beat me to it! Hope you had fun at the concert!

To this day, I associate the two smells and cannot and will not eat a peach. Nor can I use any soap with a peach odor. My sister doesn't seem to have this problem, but she laughs whenever we are together and peach cobbler is on the menu.
:scared: I am never going to look at a peach the same way again :rotfl2:

Sheryl and Kathy..thank you for my :dog: well wishes ( his name is Chief :)
I know that dogs get lumpy and bumpy in their old age, but still, better be safe than sorry right ! :thumbsup2

Can I tell you that this old gal is lumpy and bumpy as well so I am a firm believer in safe rather than sorry ;). Hope the Chief is okay.

Kenny immediately told me that if I lost weight, my BP would come down. Almost as soon as the words were out, he realized what he had said. I let him stew for a couple of seconds and burst out laughing. That's just the way he is.

:rotfl:He sounds like my DH. After all these years he is still suffering from foot in mouth problems :rotfl:

Wow! What a good dinner that was. I never think of creative dinner parties, I am lucky if I can plan a meal, never mind entertainment like your dinner party.

ITA!

Dinner last night was really good. I have to say that I was surprised that some people arrived late and that a few did not come but had not told my sister that they could not make it. She had worked hard to make sure that her home was ready and I know that she made sure there was more than enough food.

My BIL was able to get the chairs in the house and by setting the tables up in the garage there was plenty of room for both. The WC van he rented had a lift so all he had to do for dinner was give the guys a ride around and lower the ramp :thumbsup2. By next summer I foresee a walkway to the back yard and a portable ramp for access to the deck though. We did not use her back yard last night but they entertain a lot in the summer.

My family is impressed by my WFD friends. I have gotten teased a lot because they don't do the "message board thing", but after last night and my stories about all of your recipes and cooking help....they are fans as well!

Kathy- let us know how your DH is doing. I know we all teased about men and pain, but it really is going to hurt. Good luck!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:Today is my birthday!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

My husband took the day off so we could spend it together. We are going to lunch at The Olive Garden, maybe a movie or something after. So no cooking for me!! Woo hoo!

WFD at your house?

ETA: I am 29 today. My MIL thought I was 32 :sad1::sad1::sad1:

pixiedust::bday:

Happy Birthday, Lindsay!

As to MIL.....I will share that I don't know my DIL's age :ssst:, ( the girls tell me these things, but I never remember) I can guarantee that I would never add years to her :sad2:

After putting my foot in my mouth too many times, I have learned to always go with a very low number when guessing someone's age. I would never put someone in their 20s in the 30s, 30s in their 40s, and so on.
