OMG, these were the best oven baked ribs we've ever had. I used a combination of recipes/cooking methods I've seen and it was really good:

I took a rack of baby backs and seasoned with creole seasoning (Tony Cachere's),lots of minced garlic(in the jar), liquid smoke and olive oil. Placed them on a rack in a 13 x 9 inch pan, covered with foil and baked at 325 for 1 1/2 hrs. Slathered them with Sweet Baby Ray's and baked for another 30 minutes, uncovered. YUMMO!!!!

Tonight it's leftover spaghetti and meatball stoup with bread :)

WFD at your house?

Tonight we'll have pulled pork, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. I'll put the pork in the crock pot before I leave for work and do the rest when I get home at 4:15.

Today I have to take the car in for a new windshield, then get ready for work. These mornings are going by really fast. I find I'm not getting nearly as much done as I wanted to. My son is on summer vacation now though (so is dd but she's 17 and generally doesn't make so much work for me) I spend most of the morning just trying to clean up what Jack has gotten out.:headache:

Good morning everyone!

:yay: Last day of work for me this week!

Lauren - Still waiting to hear from you about your hair!!

WFD tonight - Swiss steak, baked potatoes and broccoli.:)

Geez, can't believe I never joined this thread til now! What great recipes - I'm going to try that Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings really soon.

Welcome! I have to tell you that your little "Chicklet" is precious!.

Thanks for adding a recipe to our file, if you stop in on the first page, you will see that Lindsay keeps them all up to date (You are one amazing organized lady, Lindsay) with the page they are located on.

I always thought that summer was way busier than any other time of year, and I am still amazed when I see so many people having so much time to do so much :confused3. I am always trying to keep up with everything!

:cheer2::cheer2: Havew a great extended weekend, Kathy!

I am waiting with you....Oh Laaaaauren.....where are you??????

I don't know what I am having for dinner. This has gotten to be my swan song, lately, but I did not get up with DH thins morning. The Spirit was willing, but this old girl was like a Sleeping Drooling Beauty until almost 6 AM, so I have no idea yet what he is up to tonight. I know he is going to pick up stone for a neighbor, and I want some more mulch so I think he may be late.

liamsaunt--yummo! is that recipe posted anywhere???

vettechick--welcome! your recipe is something DH would enjoy!

Either gonna be BBQ chicken or the Spinach Bruschetta and pasta tonight

Nancy--we also are SO much busier in the summer than the school year. Most of that has to do with DD not actually being in school yet--but when summer time rolls around it's camp after camp after camp. WE're already on our second of the summer. At least we vacation int he fall and winter so we don't have to work that into our plans as well.

Lauren--How'd the hair turn out? That country club looks amazing! Can't wait to see pics! Did I miss this, but are ya'll going on a honeymoon right after the wedding?

vettechick - Welcome. Please come back and chat with us and share recipes. We have really good time over here and Lindsay does a fabulous job of keeping the recipe index updated on page one. I've printed the recipe you shared and I think DH and the kids would really like it.

Lauren - How's the hair? This is the last big thing prior to Sunday right? You don't have like an airbrush tanning session or anything like that we need to worry about do you?

Laura - I'm sure you had a long chat with Liam after that comment. DS said something similar, but his was defining "women's jobs" and "men's jobs" in the house. He found himself pushing the broom that night (at DH's insistence).

Kathy - enjoy the long weekend, I'm jealous. Feeling you with the hair. Our weather seems to always be humid too. At least yours and Laura's poofs, mine just looks frizzy. And short of an oil slick, nothing is going to hold it down in this weather.

Nancy - Honey if 6 am is sleeping in, I wouldn't make it in your house. I drag out of bed each day at 5:50, alarm blaring, stagger my fat behind into the shower and pray I wake up in there before I drown myself. I don't think I could be functional before 6.

Tonight's dinner will be Lauren's "Tom's Home Chicken".

Hope everyone has a great day.

Gretchen

Gretchen

Not to rub it in  - I have long weekends every weekend! I only work Tues - Thurs. It's tough but someon'e gotta do it!:goodvibes

Tonight we're having a variation of Alice Chicken from OUtback. I didn't marinade the chicken last night so I think I'll grill them and slather it with the sauce out there (honey mustard mix) then finish it off in the oven with the bacon, mushrooms, and cheese.

Not sure what we'll have with it...?

Sis -- Your food looks yummy...even if it is tofu. I was thinking about coming to see you today, but Dad's coming to put in the AC units, so we'll have to do it another day.

Gretchen -- I shudder to think what Liam's perception of a "woman's job" is. If he goes by what happens in our house, he is seriously misguided! Although Liam is aware that not every family is like ours, and to be fair to DH, he does try to pitch in and help when he is home, but I tend to take it easy on him.

Nancy -- It takes an awful lot to drag me out of bed by 6...in fact, it's a pretty short list: medical emergencies, trips to Disney World and skating competitions.

WFD is grilled sausages with peppers and onions, red bliss potatoes from the farmer's market, and probably another tomato salad.

I've been on the phone all morning with my mother.. she's back in the hospital and not too happy. Boy is she having a bad time.
I just made the best french toast ever... I used Challah, which you can actually get at most any bakery deli and for the coating I used vanilla caramel coffee mat and egg... If you like french toast try substituting flavored creamer for regular milk. If you use a lowfat one you get less calories too. awesome

Welcome vettechick! Your recipe sounds yummy.

Cue twilight zone music...for dinner I decided to make....grilled sausages, peppers, and onions! Great minds think alike!! :)

A couple of you mentioned that you wanted to see some pictures from my trip to the Caribbean. Here is a link to some of my fish and beach pictures:

Airbrush tanning  I don't want to think what can happen there! Lauren cancel cancel cancel.......

I love DH's answer to mens work and womens work! My DH is still all in a tizzy because DD will not cook and her idea of womens work is to head out and bring home the bacon so that her DH can do something with it :rotfl2:! She has turned his Beaver Cleaver dream into his own personal nightmare :lmao:

Now I never said functional, I said "up" but Buddy has to lure me with coffee.

Sounds like a good list to me :thumbsup2

I

Aw Jenny, it has rough for her, hasn't it? I know that you also help her but remember that your family has been down a tough road so don't overdo. I keep your Mom in my prayers. Let us know how she is doing, please.

Hi All,

My hair turned out great...just had the regular color done and a trim. I haven't washed it yet...hopefully it will not turn green.

I have been a little insane lately...did I tell you guys that they found that I have some thyroid nodules? I have an appt with an endocrnologist when I get back. Then I got the poison ivy which is OK but I have a small patch on my stomach...it really itches. Then yesterday when I was taking A to get a hair cut, the mammogram place called and said that they wanted me to come it that something did not look right!!! :scared1:  :scared1: . I went for an ultra sound last night and they like the one **** is just more dense than the other (this was my first mammogram). So needless to say, I have been an emotional wreck!!! I think I am better now...

Stephanie, we are going to Mystic CT for a few days. Andrew will go by Tom's sister "down the shore".

Tonight will be cheeseburgers and corn on the cob...easy easy easy...

Thank you so much for listening to me through all of this!!!

Love your friend,
Bridezilla! :)

PS: I can't keep up with everthing now...I hope all is well with you guys!!!

Does anyone have any recipes for Knockwurst? I have some knockwurst and some sourkraut, if that helps

This was not fair! I stopped in while Kady was eating her dinosaur nuggets and now, after viewing all of that serenity, I have to march back outdoors to keep clearing out my jungle :headache:

Honestly, it looks as though the two of you were there all by yourselves. It must have been wonderful!

PS: I can't keep up with everthing now...I hope all is well with you guys!!!

Oh, you are having a stressful week, aren't you?

Don't worry about us, I know I will keep talking to you, but don't think you need to answer, i just like to talk. Just try to relax, let all of the worries go until you are back from your Honeymoon, and we'll be here if you need us.

That has got to be the prettiest tofu I've ever seen!!!

You can send him up here when you're done. We have plenty of work left and if I can have Mario working on them, I'll stop trying to derail all of DH plans :thumbsup2

And you all know that I have a soft spot for Marines :rolleyes1

Nancy, I think I'm going to keep him busy for a long time!

Jenny, Definitely has that Marine look!

:lmao:

Sheryl -- I am glad you were able to figure out your renovation project. It looks like your kitchen will be looking good even when it is a bit torn up ;)
.

Well, the view will help console me, since I won't be able to cook!

Geez, can't believe I never joined this thread til now! What great recipes - I'm going to try that Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings really soon.

We had a great recipe tonight that I'd like to add. Its a spin on chili, if you want to make it a little different sometime.

We really enjoyed this and it was super easy to make.

Welcome Vettechick!!!:goodvibes First of all, I love your log-on name! (former vette owner here!) We chatted a bit on the remodeling thread a while back. For a bit of interesting remodeling fun, go back a few pages here & check out my contractor! I love this recipe, what a good idea to combine the cornbread with the chile!!!:thumbsup2
