BTW, Here is a pic Alexis took of me talking with the contractor. Because the kitchen is a small job & he does the tile himself, he'll be doing all of the kitchen work himself. So as y'all can see, I don't think I'll be too miserable with this guy working in my house! :rolleyes1

I'll have the car licensed by the first of the month. Need help supervising? I'll bring cocktails......:rotfl2:

Thanks Gretchen! :goodvibes And Lauren, Nancy, Kathy, and Everyone for the compliments on my kitchen and for listening to me whine & complain about it.

Gretchen, I really appreciate hearing that you like the kitchen! It helps to not feeled bummed about not doing more.

In fact, Everyone's comments has really helped DH & myself realize that with other remodeling expenses looming, we only need to be fixing what's broken not what ain't!!!:grouphug:

And if I can figure out how to copy a whole bunch of pictures at one time & link them, I'll show y'all what a four year old does to occupy herself for two hours (with the electricity out) while I'm discussing house stuff with the contractor. It's too funny!

You don't need to thank us, we know a pretty kitchen when we see one. That does not change that you want to make changes. If my contractor looked like that I would be still agreeing with DH that we need to keep fixing things, but our carpenter looked like a skrawny old rooster with bad teeth.

I am almost afraid to ask what a four yo can do to keep amused :upsidedow

Sheryl - I'm available to "sit" with the contractor while you run errands.

Lauren - Please let us know how you look when you get home. We have to keep tabs on you for the rest of the week!

Gretchen - What a great hubby you have!

I hate when I have to go to work and actually work. I can't seem to get caught up with y'all until I get home!!

Sheryl I can drop Alex off at his dad's and be there too. Hope this isn't an example of too many cooks in the kitchen pirate:

You guys are too funny!

Lauren, make sure and give us a "hair report." Hopefully your hairdresser will do a better job than mine did before my vacation!!

Look out sis, because WFD tonight is...tofu! Stir fried tofu in a red curry-coconut sauce with ginger, peas, and cilantro, and crispy sesame-jasmine rice cakes. I'll try to remember to take a picture.

How did I know YOU would appreciate this?!:lmao:
:cutie: You know you posted that pic JUST for me!:rotfl2:

Definitely remember to take a picture! Got a recipe to go with that too? Sounds delish!

You guys are all too funny!!!!:rotfl2: I don't think this guy is going to need to be sat with or supervised much, but you are all more than welcome to come WATCH him work!!!

His name is Mario sounds spanish right. Well I knew I wasn't going to get a Mario Lopez working on my house, so I was expecting a short old bald guy with a mustache (oops that kinda sounds like my DH!) & the typical pants workmen's pants showing his bum! Instead in walks this tall blonde, clean cut, well dressed, well spoken young guy! AND then when discussing the bathroom he mentioned travertine tiles & a "old world" style! WELL, I just about swooned & fainted right there!!!:upsidedow Then he also had great pictures & good references to boot!
So if I keep finding "projects" for him to do, you will all know why!:rotfl:

Can he at least dance like Mario Lopez?:cool2:

He has that marine officer look to him

maybe that's why I'm attracted. Ex was a Marine

Sheryl -- I am glad you were able to figure out your renovation project. It looks like your kitchen will be looking good even when it is a bit torn up ;)

I am glad everyone enjoyed the story about Liam. And Gretchen, believe me, after that comment we had a LONG conversation about how wives aren't housekeepers and cooks. Liam then decided that he needs to make enough money so he can hire someone to do the cleaning for him. He has an answer for everything, that kid.

Lauren -- Take care of yourself!! I hope your hair looks nice. Oh, and the country club is beautiful! You are just going to have a wonderful day.

As for WFD...I have no idea. And I better figure it out quick because Caili has a birthday party this evening and I need to feed her before she goes because otherwise, her dinner will be cake.

Lauren - I'm just catching up - the country club looks incredibly beautiful! I'm sure your day will be wonderful!:thumbsup2

For dinner I ended up making the bread from the market into bruschetta and had it with a fresh tomato and basil salad. I also made these zucchini fritters, but they weren't exactly what I envisioned. They were pleasant enough, but I wanted them to be crispy and light. Try again next time!

Oh I should add...I know everyone was talking about their summer hair a while back. It is so humid today that my hair looks like a French poodle's poof. No matter how I try to mat it down, it keeps getting bigger.

You can send him up here when you're done. We have plenty of work left and if I can have Mario working on them, I'll stop trying to derail all of DH plans :thumbsup2

And you all know that I have a soft spot for Marines :rolleyes1

Liam then decided that he needs to make enough money so he can hire someone to do the cleaning for him. He has an answer for everything, that kid.

 He sounds like my nephew Chris. When he was about Liam's age he was in the car with me and we were driving by these massive new homes that were being built on the golf course down the way. He told me that he wanted to buy a big house like the ones we saw but that he was going to hire his Auntie Nancy to clean it. ( I cleaned homes for a long time) I told him he was going to need a good job if he was going to afford me. :rotfl:

Lauren- You're "hall" looks beautiful! What a lovely setting for a wedding. How did your hair come out?

DSIL is out grilling burgers, turkey and beef. I cleaned all day and :laundy: since 5 AM so I did not want to worry about a big meal. Tomorrow I want to get back out into the yard and rip out another bed and replace it with some cutting flowers. I can't toss anything so as I divided all of the daylillies I have acquired over the years I kept adding them in this bed and it looks like a jungle. DH threatened to harrow it all under because it looks like a jungle!

Geez, can't believe I never joined this thread til now! What great recipes - I'm going to try that Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings really soon.

We had a great recipe tonight that I'd like to add. Its a spin on chili, if you want to make it a little different sometime.

______________________________________________________________

Cornbread Chili
1 lb ground meat (I like turkey)
1 can kidney beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 packet chili seasoning
1 box corn muffin mix, reserve 2 TBS
2 eggs

Brown your meat and make the chili according to the directions on the packet.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Make muffin mix with 1/4 cup water and 2 eggs. Mix well.

Place chili in a casserole dish. Stir in the 2 TBS of muffin mix. I also added a little shredded cheese at this time, but that's up to you!

Spread muffin mix on top of chili. It likely won't reach the edges.

Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Cool 5 minutes.

We really enjoyed this and it was super easy to make.

Come down here and you'll live like I do -always poofed!

Good evening! I made enough chicken and pastina last night to have it again tonight =) I work on Wed nights so the last thing I want to do is cook when I get in. It was yummy, even the second time around.
