Becky & Laura - The next time you're not satisfied with the meal, please keep me in mind. I'll pay for packaging and shipping. Leftovers will be accepted.:lmao: :lmao:

Kathy and Lori - I hope you are both feeling better today. I think we are starting with a "back to school" cold in our house. Two of the kiddos seem to be sniffing and sneezing a lot more. I hoping I will have the mother immunity this time and it will pass me by.

Laura - I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. I know as much as you are looking forward to returning to your routine, it must be very difficult to have your husband home for such a small amount of time and to have him leave again. I'm glad you have a close family to be supportive.

Aimee - I wasn't here last night, so I don't know what BBQ discussion you are referring to, but I can't wait for cooler weather and BBQ season here. There is nothing like BBQ cooked on the pit. Some of my fondest food memories are of hanging out with my Daddy while he was cooking a hog for a party or a holiday. He used to give me tastes after the meat was cooked and before it was seasoned with the sauce and it was wonderful just like that. But heaven on earth is a sauced down rib right from the pit. :cloud9:

Tonight's dinner is steak on the grill with boiled potatoes. I don't really feel like cooking today. Actually, I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I got up yesterday at 3:20, left my house at 4:00, and picked up the girls at 4:30. We arrived in Atlanta at 10:00 and shopped until 4:30. I got home around 10:30 last night. I did manage to get a lot of my Christmas shopping done and the girls had a great time! They spent most of the ride home admiring their purchases and telling me how much fun they had. All in all, it was worth it. But I'm paying the price today.

Both of the girls who went yesterday were fairly new therapists - one started in May and the other in July, so neither have been to Disney with us. They, along with another girl who couldn't make the shopping trip, are planning on going with us in November, so they spent most of the trip there asking about DD and Disney. Of the three therapists going with us, one went with us last year, one went with her family 13 years ago and doesn't remember any of it, and the other has never been. I know they are going to have a great time and we really enjoy sharing the trips with them. They spend so much time in our home they really do become like family.

Sorry for the rambling - I'm much too tired to be concise today.

DH and I actually went out ALONE last night!:scared1: We went to a new Irish Pub here in town and it was very good. We got onion soup and some pub fries. He had a Guinness and I had a "Chocolate Raspberry" beer (I loved it!) The soup was good, not as good as mine though and the pub fries were awesome! The atmosphere was excellent and the price was right!

Tonight I'm making MY French onion soup (does anyone else ever do that- have something out and then make it at home?? I know, I'm a freak). It feels VERY "fallish" here today so a soup will hit the spot (especially with a crusty piece of french bread and melty gooey cheese!!):thumbsup2

Gretchen - God Bless You for doing what you did for the girls. Take it easy today and get some rest. It's going to be so much fun for the girls at Disney and for you getting to see it through their eyes. I'm excited about Abi (Kyle's girlfriend) seeing everything for the first time. Hopefully we can meet up, I'd love to meet you and your family.:goodvibes

Dinner tonight will be a prime rib roast, shrimp stuffed potatoes and a spinach salad.

Today I am making ribeye steaks for everyone else, and a piece of chicken stuffed with basil, goat cheese, and sun dried tomatoes for me (tres 80s!), plus spinach, macaroni and cheese, and roasted beets.

Today I am making the chicken pot pie soup.

That sounds great! Has the recipe been posted? (Hint, hint) :)

I have a chicken, green beans, and new potatoes in the crockpot with sliced onions & Jenny O's Crazy Mixed Up seasoning. Smells wonderful.

Almost forgot - I'm making Glynis' blueberry muffins that everyone raves about today!!

Good Morning!

Gretchen- I am exhausted just thinking about your day! Your girls are going to love their vacation with you, it is wonderful how people who are in and out of your home become part of the family, isn't it? Rest today.

Everyone is cooking such good meals today. We are going to Red Robin, one of Kady's favorite restaurants. She is her mother's DD and loves to eat out, so how can a Nana say no? Actually, Buddy and I try to do something alone with her once in a while because living with us does not allow her to have that special feeling that kids should have about their Grandparents.

Supper tonight has to be something light becasue I am never hungry after RR and if I am not hungry I don't feel like cooking.

Afternoon all--
Hope all who have the fall colds going on feel much better soon!!

Laura--I will have you dh in my thoughts..I am glad you got to have him home for a visit, but am so sorry it was so quick, I am sure the R&R did him a world of good though.

Gretchen--Take it easy today, what a day you had. I am sure your "girls" appreciated it, and they must be over the top excited to go with you all to disney. It is such a great help when you get to have true relationships with those that help in you day to day lives. We have been very lucky that my grandmothers daily nurse aide has been with us for 12 years now. We had for for 4 years with my grandfather, then when he passed away we were able to keep her for my grandmothers care.

Nancy--I am sure you will all have a blast at RR. The one we have near us is awful, which is to bad as Ross and Kris loved burgers. I am sure that Kady feels special every day, how can she not with you and Buddy as her grandparents. I have a feeling that she has a pretty tight grip around Buddy's pinky finger ;)

Yesterday we were at Ross tournament, and it was 95 outside and humid...so you can only imagine what it was like inside a packed gym and kids fighting (remember in Maine there is no A/C in the schools)...Ross did great he placed 3rd in fighting, and did weapons for the first time and did NOT drop his bo staff and came in 5th.
After, we went to one of our good friends house (our boys do karate together) and Kris put up their garage door openers, and fixed their siding for them,(john helped with what he could do....not very handy lol) and Jen and I supervised in a chair drinking Margarita's lol. I think we had a very important role....oh and we also ordered the Pizza's. It was a fun night. Pizza, drinks, good friends, and lots of laughs---doesn't get much better does it?!!?

Tonight we are having burgers on the grill and a salad.
Kris and Ross are washing and waxing Kris' truck in the carport, as it is pouring out, and I am going to do some housework....since we were gone all day yesterday, the elves came out to play and made a mess..............doesn't it always seem that way....you can be gone for a week and come home and the house is a total mess....it has to be elves I swear!!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday!!

Wendie - Congrats to Ross!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

And yes, my dear, the supervisor role in the chair with margarita in hand IS a very important one!;) Someone's gotta do it.:goodvibes

Glynis - The blueberry muffins are incredible!!! Johnny said to tell you he's in love.

Well, here are some photos from the dinner tonight. We had some rare grilled tuna, which I have already shown you a bunch of times so I did not bother to photo, but we also tried a new fish tonight, marlin:

both fishes were served with mango-black bean salsa:

coconut lime sticky rice:

and zucchini fritters:

plus some green beans that I did not get a picture of.

I don't know...maybe I was not in the mood for fish, but overall I found this meal to be pretty unsatisfying. The flavors just did not work for me. I did not eat much. I'm kind of moody and picky right now though. Other people seemed to like everything, though I know Laura agrees with me on the rice and marlin...right Laura? ;)

So, off topic story for today. I've already told you about my death-defying escape from the escalator from heck earlier this week....the newest installment of chaos is that last night, at 4 AM, the entire interior of our shared closet fell down! All the bracketing broke off and everything tumbled to the floor! We both woke up screaming thinking someone had broken into the house (the fact that we had watched two episodes of Twin Peaks earlier in the evening did not help matters!). So now, we have to figure out how to rebuild the inside of our closet. Boo. :headache:

Can you share recipes of the salsa, rice, and fritters? I'd love to try them!

We are having a staff retreat tonight/tomorrow so I'm supposed to meet everyone out at the camp in about an hour and then we're heading into town for pizza/pasta at a local dive we sometimes stop at. I'm not sure what I'll have!

Sometimes we cook out there but it's so much of a hassle to haul it all that it's easier to just support a local business, LOL ;) Not really camping, is it?

Congrats to Ross!!

Wasn't it crazy hot here yesterday?? Today was welcomed by me.... I just couldn't take another day like that!!

Yes I do that to, I'm still trying to duplicate a fish recipe. I'm convinced it is the wine they used in the sauce. I will figure it without calling them, That would be to easy if they tell me. :rotfl:

How do you make your chicken. I want to make it. Do you serve it with a sauce too?

Congrats to Ross :cheer2: House elves are supposed to cook and clean.

We are having Meatball sandwiches and corn. I to tired from working today to really cook. I need to dig out my recipe for Eggplant pudding for you all
that have a bumper crop of eggplant. It's really good and super easy.

Glynis - How was the French meal?

Sorry I haven't been on this weekend. Alan has been using the computer for freelance work.

Anyway, the french food was really good. Our hostess made 3 items from Mastering the Art of French Cooking. We had a potato/leek soup, Blue Cheese tarts, and Orange Bavarian. So yummy!!!
