Tonight we are going to my grandmother's for dinner. She is making my fave (the only SHE makes)- her beef stew. I have bragged on it before :)

WFD at your house?

ETA: Glynis, I am drooling over that spinach gratin recipe!!

Thanks, but I think you mean liamsaunt. Although I'm drooling over it as well. I was so happy you asked her to post the recipe, because I wanted it, too!!!

Glynis,

Yesterday I made your pot roast for my mom and she LOVED it! :cool1:

Isn't it amazing?!? Who would have thought those flavors would combine so well???

Hmmm, maybe I'll make that for our Sunday dinner. We haven't had it for a while!

Dinner for us tonight will be Greek Pork sandwiches in Pita bread. I don't know if my kids will like it, but DH and I will. Not sure about sides, yet. Anyone want to suggest something??? Maybe, if I can find some good looking cucumbers, I'll make a simple cucumber and tomato salad.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days, but we have been really busy. Friday night, my FIL was admitted to the hospital. At first they thought he had acute leukemia and his children were preparing to be tested for a bone marrow match, but they now tell us he has lymphoma, but they are still testing. We hope to know more sometime today.

Since everything was such a blur, I don't remember what we ate this weekend, but my wonderful, considerate sister brought over some barbeque, so we had BBQ sandwiches with cole slaw for dinner last night.

Tonight, I think I will have time to cook, so I have planned a quick mexican chicken. We'll see how it goes.

I hope everyone is feeling better.

Gretchen

Gretchen, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL.

Has anybody here ever done a pasta dish in the crockpot?

Prayers for your family!

Gretchen--Sending prayers your way!

Tonight will be roast chicken if it kills me! It's the only thing we have left in the house to cook--guess a trip to the store is in order!

I've never tried one. What are you thinking about?

I was going to do another whole wheat penne thing, probably like the lapegna from last week, but I was considering throwing it in the crock pot while I teach my piano lessons this afternoon. I just didn't know whether I would need to cook the noodles first or not.

I also might try it without the noodles, because we've been going a little heavy on the carbs around here lately, and a good lowcarb dinner would be nice. Just a cheesey Italian meat casserole in the crockpot kind of dish. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Gretchen - thoughts & prayers for your family!:grouphug:

wendie - I feel just like you, blah.:( but I have to get dinner on the table anyway.

I am making a lowfat tasty mediterranean chicken with rice pilaf and baby carrots.

Gretchen- I'm so sorry to hear this. Prayers for your family are offered. Please let us know how your FIL is and how you and your family are faring when you have a chance.

I bet you could do it, just don't add the noodles until later, like an hour before serving. Maybe that would work.

Glynis - just had a thought about a combo for the cake recipe - chocolate raspberry, do they make raspberry jello mix?:confused3

That would be good, but I don't think I've ever seen a raspberry pudding mix. I did see a chocolate cherry one a couple of years ago. Hmmm, might be worth investigating!

Tonight I am using up some of the leftovers from the tacos the other night--there's the marinated flank steak and chicken, plus peppers and onions, tortillas, sour cream, chunky salsa...I am making a fresh batch of guacamole though. Guacamole does not keep.

I'm sorry about your FIL, Gretchen.

Lindsay, I posted the spinach recipe, not Glynis. :)

And I'm so glad that you did! I'm planning on making it for our Easter dinner! It sounds so fabulous!!!

whil'st i do not LOVE to cook, I need to cook, so here I am to try out something new. I go in waves with the cooking-6 months of yummy things different from our regular fare, then back to the fast, plain yooky stuff that we get tired of after a few months of. Got your thread from the NOLA board-thanks!

Welcome!!! I have tried so many of the recipes posted here, and there hasn't been a bad one in the bunch. Many of them get the :thumbsup2 from even my really picky DS.
