Quick question - What does Meatloaf taste like? I had it 12 years ago and it was so bad the dog wouldn't eat it and I've been afraid to try it since. Is it good?

Trust me, there are some BBBAAAADDDD meatloaves out there. I will post my recipe when I come back. Going to go work out :)

Linday, hope you feel better, I'll say some prayers...

Icebrat...I love meatloaf. I am sure Lindsay will give you a great recipe.

No cooking here tonight...we are going to my Mom's to see her fort Xmas...we are leaving Sat for WDW. We are taking Mom to our favorite Italian restaurant.

If I am not on before I leave...

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday!!!

Regular meatloaf tastes kind of like meatballs (the kind in brown gravy, not tomato sauce) but sometimes if people add bacon, ketchup, taco sauce or barbecue sauce, it takes on that flavor. Also, in my house, we like the "crust" or the browned top of the meatloaf, so that part tastes a little different than the center.

I love meatloaf.

I have some egg nog here...Glynis' recipe...what do I "Spike" it with? I have Jim Beam...would that work?

I think you're supposed to use rum.

Lindsay - I hope you feel better soon. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Well, the creamy chicken stew last night was so yummy! I'll post the recipe for you all. I just wish there had been leftovers.

Tonight DH has to work late, so the kids and I are having tacos. Nothing fancy, but the kids will eat them!

Creamy Chicken Stew

3/4 pounds small red potatoes, quartered
2 Tbs. water
1 Tbs. oil
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/4 C. Kraft Zesty Italian salad dressing
2 C. frozen peas and carrots
1/2 C. sour cream

Place potatoes and water in microwaveable dish; cover with lid. Microwave on high 7 minutes or until fork-tender. Meanwhile, heat oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 7 minutes or until browned, stirring occasionally. Add potatoes, soup, dressing and vegetables to the saucepan. Bring to a boil; cover. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 3 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and vegetables are heated through. Stir in sour cream; cook 1 minute or until heated through, stirring occationally.

this was really yummy! I served it over some hot biscuits and it was so good even my picky eater DS ate it without complaint!

I'm making glazed salmon, rice, broccoli and maybe a salad with homemade French dressing.

Then we're going to make cocoa in DS's new cocoa maker and watch the Dr. Seuss specials on TV.

Lauren - I hope you all have a magical holiday in Disney!!

Glynis - that creamy chicken stew looks great, can't wait to try it!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is on tonight so DH and I are making BELTS and eating them in front of the TV. I used to have the DVD, but Liam "stole" it a couple of years ago. Gotta have my Rudolph!

What station is Rudolph on? We have it on DVD, but I still like to watch it anytime it's on.

I love meatloaf.

Is brown gravy meatballs like swedish meatballs? Lol, I've only had tomato sauce meatballs.

Tonight we are having leftover meatloaf. This time I used Paula Deen's recipe. I will come back and post the recipe in a little while. I'm behind this morning.

WFD at your house?

I am getting off work early to shop and clean house so hoepfully something easy tonight and then I can bake!

Does anyone know how to easily get to a particular page on threads as large as this one without having to scroll through?

Thanks!

Yes, you go up to the address bar and you will see "p=160" in there. That stands for the page you are currently on. Just delete the number 160 and insert the page # that you want to go to and then press enter.

Not cooking tonight, DH is sick. Taking some veg soup out of the freezer.

What are we going to do with no DIS boards this weekend???????

Glynis, sorry I did not see your message in time. Hope you caught good old Rudolph!

I think tonight we are going out to eat again. Both of our offices are closing early and we are meeting up for a final push to finish gifts and then heading into the North End for some food shopping--olives, salumni, cheeses, etc. We'll probably eat dinner while there.

I think tonight we will have BLTs on refrigerated biscuits. Someone I work with gave me a plate of Christmas cookies/candy that his wife made. They are very very yummy and I look forward to them every year so that will be our dessert.

With no DIS this weekend I am hoping to get a few projects done around the house that I never seem to be able to get to.

I'm making soft tacos. I've never made salsa before so I thought I'd give that a try tonight with some tortilla chips.

Anyone have a recipe for (not hot) salsa?

I'll probably just make the kids some crunchy dogs and have peanut butter chocolate haystax. OMG I can't stop eating them! ;)

Welcome back to the DISboards, what a long 48 hours.

Tonight we're having prime rib, roasted potatoes and carrot cake. It's traditional eve meal for DH & I since we don't have family to celebrate with us.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
