I was talking so much I forgot to post dinner for tonight. We are having a meatloaf made with ground turkey, corn, and some kind of starch. I think mashed potatoes...you know....so I don't mess with the food ;)

Glynis, this dinner sounds great! I know you said you wanted to try the chicken recipe to see if it's good before you post it, but would you mind telling how you do your garlic green beans?

Sure. The beans are pretty much a staple in my house. My family loves them.

Garlic Butter Green Beans

1 pound fresh green beans
1 garlic clove, minced
1 Tbs. butter
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. pepper

Place beans in a steamer basket; place in a large saucepan over 1 inch of water. Bring to a boil; cover and steam for 7-9 minutes or until crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, cook garlic in butter until tender. Remove from the heat; stir in the lemon juice, sugar and pepper. Transfer the beans to a serving bowl; add garlic butter and stir to coat.

Sometimes I double the garlic butter, as my family likes it coated really well. It really depends on how large your beans are.

I told you all about the impending birth/adoption taking place in our family. Well, baby Noah was born last night at 4:49 p.m. He's 7 pounds 3 oz., 20 inches long. I've only seen pictures of him so far, but he's adorable. Andrea got to be in the delivery room with the birth mother, and the birth mother held him for a few minutes until the cord was cut, and then she handed him to Andrea, and asked her to take him away.

If all goes well, they will be bringing him home tonight! We're all so excited!

I decised to make 'Ohana scalloped potatoes, and wanted to post the recipe here. They are delicious.

1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup cheddar cheese
2 Tbs Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup sweet onion sliced thin

It is such a miracle! This couple have tried for 5 years with no luck. One round of in vitro ended in a horrible miscarriage, and a diagnosis that her uterus is not ever going to be a hospitable place for a baby. So, adoption was their only choice.

Thanks, everyone! When I heard the news, I wanted to come right to the DIS and let my "family" know!

Ladies, I have been trying to find a recipe from the Flame Tree BBQ in AK> It is the salad dressing on the garden salad with rotisserie chicken. My DH really liked it, and although we like the dressings from the SOA luau and 'Ohana, he would like me to make that one. Any ideas?

Chicken and mashed taters along with some cheezy broccoli :) My 15 yo is more excited about the mashed potaters go figure! LOL

Welcome to the world Baby Noah and congrats to the new parents!

I actually cooked today I made some shredded beef in the crockpot and then used it to make a casserole...I'll take the leftover shredded beef to Ed at the hospital tomorow with some low salt tortillas and just a dash of cheese...It's got to be better than hospital food.

We are having baked ziti tonight, garlic bread and salad...yum! I think I am going to try an re create a dressing that we had at a local restaurant...it is basically catalina with chunks of bleu cheese in it...

Tomorrow we are off to Atlantic City...have a great weekend all!
