The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

I want to hear from all of you VDH owners.

What are your top 3 (or more) favorite things about owning at VDH?
What are your 3 least favorite things about owning at VDH?
Favorites:
1. The grounds, vegetation, pathways.
2. Less hectic main lobby.
3. Convenient self parking (no street crossing)
4. The dining options.
5. Steps from Downtown Disney.
6. Closest resort to a monorail station.

Least Favorite:
1. TOT. Treated like a transient & not an owner.
2. The tower being too close to the public perimeter.
3 Studios without a balcony.

It does impact VGC too. I feel it at VDH a little bit more. Since becoming DVC I have been able to stay at VGC only 2 times (4 nights) and VDH 3 times (8 nights). I feel like I have stayed at VDH much more but turns out just twice as many nights but not separate vacations.
No way! The PP entrance was like a VIP entrance from the VGC wing that made it ridiculously easy to get into and out of the park without much of a walk.

Now we have to walk all the way over to one of the other crowded security lines and are in the rooms furthest away from any of the security entrances in the hotel.

With VDH, the PP entrance was a bit “out of the magic” because you have to cross a street, avoid cars, etc. Then… you have to walk by the VGC wing and be like “man, it would be nice to just roll out of bed and already be here”. I enjoy the walk through downtown Disney…. the music puts me in a good vibe and gets the blood flowing.

Favorite:
1. Overall vibe is better than VGC, wayyyyyy less hustle and bustle. I do not care for the circus that is VGC's lobby lol
2. Easy access to food options.
3. The Coffee Shop
Lease Favorite:
1. TOT, it is always a bit of a buzz kill to see that bill.
2. So few one bedrooms. I do worry about availability as they sell more points. I have not had an issue at 11 months yet but it does not take long for the rooms to disappear.
3. The "preferred" view of the palette pool is a joke.
There really aren’t any great views, IMO. There are some really nice views from the other towers.

The building can also cast a shadow over the water slides, which can make that whole area chilly if you are standing in line for a water slide in the shade. Could be a plus in August….

1. Much better availability than VGC.
2. New fresh bright rooms.
3. ? hmmm I will have to reiterate #1, because I cant dislike something if I dont even get much of chance to stay there ( 👀 at you VGC)

1. The walk. The walk to DLH isnt horrible but once you get there you still have to walk ALLL the way around if the pool is closed. I will say the walk isnt as much of a con as it used to be to me, I got used to it. The closing of Pixar entrance will be a huge bummer for VDH though.
2. Feels very disconnected from the OG DLH that I love.
3. The views from most rooms.

The brightness and newness of the rooms was so noticeable coming over from VGC!

Yeah, when we walked back from VDH, we went through DTD instead of going the PP entrance for that exact reason. Well, we wanted to stop at Starbucks too. But also just for the atmosphere of DTD vs. the street.

What's wrong with the view of the palette pool? I looked at the room view thread and thought it looked fine.

I didn't know about the coffee shop. I'll have to look into that. (Unless it's just Joffrey's coffee...then...meh.)
It's just not a magical view for the extra points in my opinion lol Monorail Views are soooo much better but so few rooms face that direction.

So when we walked back from visiting VDH, we took this path...

I didn't pay attention....can you exit DTD from that same place (circled) or is it only an entrance into DTD?

To me, that seems like the best route to get back to the DVC tower. But maybe it's not?

Also, we hadn't visited this end of DTD in so many years. It's way different and I liked the stage and grassy area. Very nice!

Yes you can go that way, it puts you at the other security line, we find that line to take longer. But that may not always be the case.

Stayed for the first time on Saturday in a preferred view duo (snagged the room at the 31 day mark). Loved it enough that I took a serious look at the current incentives 🤣 Seems like my opinions track with most of yours. I enjoyed how much less crowded DLH as a whole was (VGC is my home and the Grand was NUTS when I walked through with friends who were staying there), loved the decor, and always find self-parking easier as @Wedgeout says. Also, I love that the rooms have robes. I don't love the walk, but when I'm parking at Mickey & Friends I walk in and out through DTD 90% of the time so it really isn't that big of a deal. My one minor irritant was not having a Keurig Duo to brew my own coffee (seems like you can request one - not a big deal for a 1 night solo stay). The real dishes are a huge plus. Had I been staying more than a night, I would have asked Mousekeeping for the sponge and dish soap to give them a little rinse in the bathroom sink.

There were two weddings going on Saturday night when I was walking "home" in the Rose Court Garden and Frontier Tower ballroom. Not going to lie, the grounds were noisy, but once inside on the 11th floor I only briefly noticed because I was purposely listening for noise. No problems falling asleep.

I would happily stay again!
